ABSOLUTELY HORRENDOUS! If there were a zero star option, I wouldve selected it. My 7+ months pregnant wife and I were able to find a sitter this morning for our 2-year old, and hence we decided to go to brunch. My wife is basically on bed rest, with the doctor suggesting only four upright hours per day. For this reason, we have to be pretty efficient with our upright time. I called Ritual this morning, 15 min. prior to arriving, and asked the hostess if they were on a wait, knowing that most places were busy and that we didnt have a reservation, and we couldnt go to a place that had a wait. At that time, the hostess informed me that there were many open tables and that they were not on a wait. I then got my 7+ month pregnant wife in the car and headed over. Upon arrival, my wife and I walked into the restaurant to be told by the same hostess that it would be a 45 min. wait. We were the only people waiting, and there were MANY open tables inside the restaurant, and at least two larger, picnic style tables outside. I mentioned to the hostess that I had just called and talked with them. She acknowledged the conversation. My wife also asked her why they had a 45 min. wait, based on all the empty tables. Her reply was that ALL of the empty tables were recently reserved. Im referring to MANY tables throughout the restaurant, not conglomerated together, but sprinkled throughout the restaurant. My hungry, pregnant wife and I then left in disgust (myself giving an animated gesture about my disapproval...something I dont usually do, but I could not believe the seemingly satisfied nature in which these hostesses responded), to the smiling faces of the two, young hostesses that will drive this new restaurant straight into the ground. Places like this, especially new places, should well understand that once the new shine wears off, that the food, ambiance, and staff will carry the success or failure going forward. I cant speak to the two former, but the two hostesses acting unilaterally on behalf of the management, empowered (or perhaps not) to make these types of decisions is absolutely terrible. My wife and I will take our business somewhere else, and will not be returning. As for the extra half hour to find a new place, thats just quality time taken away from my wifes limited upright time. The staff at this place should be taught that eating at the restaurant is not a privilege.

Came here for a surprise wedding shower, so wont be a typical experience at SaltAir. First things first, the place is pretty easy to find, located at the corner of a very busy intersection. Its attached to a strip mall, but you cant miss the huge sign and grand doors. Once you walk in, the atmosphere and decorations fit the place well. Plenty of open light and a antique nautical feel. Service was very quick and efficient, especially because our event started before they officially opened. We had a variety of appetizers and wine and champagne. The wine was good, although everyone really enjoyed the champagne. For appetizers... Shrimp cocktail was fairly standard (but good). Had tempura battered green beans with a whipped sauce, that was delicious as well. Beef skewers were decent, found them a bit on the salty side. Scallop ceviche was great, especially on the asian shrimp-type chip they came on. Crab cakes were great (more like a tiny ball shaped crab cake bite, but similar principle). Lastly, we had tortilla chips with ahi tuna on top, some nori, and other sauce. That was also very delicious. We also checked out the happy hour menu which had $1 gulf coast and $2 east coast oysters. We got the east coast oysters, they were delicious, plump and amazing. Would definitely come here sometime for the oysters and maybe a drink or two.

Was really looking forward to dining here, finally came for my birthday dinner a few weeks ago on a Friday night. First impressions were good, its a lovely interior and was lively atmosphere. My boyfriend and I were sat at a banquette seat where the table was so long and the area was so loud we couldnt hear each other, had to ask to rotate the table so we could sit next to each other, the server was fine with it and accommodating. The food was the real disappointment. Started off with the stuffed Avocado small plate and the server talked us into adding crab, the filling was disproportionately small, the avocado was unripe, and the crab had shell bits in it. We also had the french onion dip, which was delicious, but not enough caviar. Next we had sardine fish and chips, where I had to remove scales from several bites and the few fries that were on the plate were OK. The best part of the meal were the oysters, nothing to complain about there. The bill was steep, unfortunately the food just wasnt worth paying that much. I typically love the Clark Cooper concepts, so I might give it another chance, its just hard to waste time on that when there are so many other great places to try in Houston.

This epitomizes what is wrong with food in Houston. The food was incredibly overpriced, coming in at an eye-watering $115 for two apps, two cocktails, and two entrees. Even if you get a good waiter, the food is uninspired and overpriced. We didnt even have the pleasure of getting a waiter willing to do anything above the bare minimum. Our waiter was cold and clearly running through the motions. He asked how the food was, but ran off before letting us say that the chef somehow managed to cram some shell into the tiny crab cakes. He was clearly put off by us asking him what the market price was for certain dishes. Well, sorry but what is "MP" for scallops, and I could have done without the dismissive "uh, 28 dollars, I think." Ive havent had a waiter look at me and my wife and dismiss us as too cheap to bother with. Our experience was so bad that we left and washed out the bad experience with a drink and pig ears over at Hay Merchant.

Had dinner here with business associates and we all liked the dinners. The portions were good sized, especially of the shrimp. Also like the deviled eggs as appetizer. Skip dessert. The desserts are all very ordinary and boring. They did have good drinks in terms of mixed drinks. I would definitely go back. This is very solid restaurant for dinner out.

Second visit. As good as the first! Great food great service. Alaskan King Crab, one of my all tome favorites, and not served in many restaurants anymore! They take all the work out of it and NONE of the flavor !! Paired with a lemon drop martini... Deliciouso!! Omar, the manager, only added to the overall experience ! Definitely coming back
