I had the worst experience that I have ever received from a restaurant. I can’t understand how a company can stay in business and turn people away. Definitely customer service skills need to be worked on. I called into the Lupe Tortillas restaurant in West Houston location on Saturday evening (4-25-09) and told them we had a party of 12 people (6 adults and 6 children) and wanted to see if we could get call ahead seating but the women who answered the phone said very rudely “no”. We went to the West Houston location at around 7pm. They were unwilling to accommodate us all at one table and said the best they could do was try to get two table close by but that it would be whatever came up first so half of our party could be at one end of the restaurant and the other half on the other. My husband tried to talk with the manager (Brad Hournbug- an Anglo bald man) to see if there was any way to accommodate our large party but he said only that 8 people could be accommodated at one table and they were “too busy” for our large party to try and get us together. Not a good start. My husband went into the bar area and saw two tables pushed together with a high chair that had just been emptied. My husband witnessed these customers leaving and he saw that they had three children in their party so keep in mind there were already children seated in the bar area. There was a third empty table nearby so we put them all together. We all sat down and the waiter came and greeted us very nicely and started cleaning off our table. The same manager(Brad) came by and told us we could not push the tables together in the bar area even though we had already found them together. He went on to tell us that our children could not sit at the table in the bar. We explained that we had found the tables already pushed together and that children had already been sitting at the bar. We told him that we planned to buy beverages and dinner and that our children would most likely be in the sand area anyway. He still refused us service and turned us away and then he walked away. As we were standing to leave, the waiter came back with chips and salsa for our three tables and I explained what the manager had told us and his reply was “what? How can that be? Let me go talk with him?” So obviously it was not a common practice if they waiter didn’t know about it. Could it have been that we were treated this way because we were Hispanic??? Sounds strange for a Mexican restaurant to refuse service to a group of Mexicans? Shame on you for allowing this to happen. Not only have you lost our business but rest assured that we will spread the word and make sure everyone we know knows of this practice.

I came here on a Saturday evening for dinner. There was a small group of people waiting and we were told 15 minutes. Walking to the bathroom, I noticed that only half the tables were in use. There were more tables available than twice the number of parties waiting. We ended up waiting nearly 40 minutes before being given a table. The same table that we had been standing next to the entire time. Everything proceeds smoothly from here until the delivery of food where my order was lost/forgotten. Once the waiter realizes that were trying to get his attention and that my food is missing, he runs off to find it. After another 5-10 minutes, I finally get my Stuffed Poblano Chicken. I usually dont complain about food unless it warrants it. This chile relleno was one of the blandest things I have ever eaten. The chicken was tasteless and dry. The "jack cheese" was just a white mass that competed with the chicken for blandness. The only way to save this travesty was gratuitous application of the house salsa (actually good). And now for the kicker: One of my fellow diners went to the womens bathroom and returned with a horrifying tale. There was standing water covering the bathroom floor that appeared to be coming from one of the toilets. Upon mentioning it to an employee, she was told that it was "just a leak and that they cannot get it fixed during the weekend." What? Thats stupid. There are 24/7 plumbers for EXACTLY THIS SCENARIO. You are running a food establishment. You shouldnt have any water, more or less toilet water, covering the floor of the bathroom. And you absolutely shouldnt tell your guests that its not a priority to fix it. Disgusting.

On a slow Sunday late night service, the host was super friendly and had spoke of how the fajitas were really good. We were seated immediately however we waited for 15 minutes just for a waitress to wait on us. She took our drinks. Another 5-10 minutes. Took an order of guacamole and entrees. ..... 20 minutes later she walks by and we caught her to cancel the guacamole (wanted as an appetizer, not with the entree). Fajitas finally came to the table. The meat was too limey for me to enjoy a second serving. I was disappointed because they pride themselves with good fajitas. My boyfriend ordered the ribs, they were very good and stacked high with lots of ribs it. It was too pricey just for the two of us, however. I prefer gringos or los cucos.

I dont like to bicker and complain, but my last visit here was a major disappointment. (Sadly, this location is close to my workplace and was one of my recommended restaurants to refer customers to.) The reasons are as follows: 1. Most of the staff seems very prejudicial. They were very nice to the patrons who spoke Spanish, but became rude to anyone else including our waiter who didnt. (Our waiter, Dadrian, was FANTASTIC! I would highly recommend him.) 2. The clean plates were dirty. (The first picture, which was a he cleanest of them all.) 3. The fajitas we ordered were terrible, (the second picture) they had a soupy broth underneath the pieces of meat that tasted strongly of vinegar.

Be warned! Ate here yesterday and found that my rental vehicle had been broken into at lunch time and briefcase was stolen RIGHT UNDER THE NOSE OF A SECURITY GUARD! When I approached the guard about my discovery, he simply wondered how that might have happened when he was sitting there under a shade tree the entire time! Perhaps it might not have happened had the guard actually been doing his job and patrolling the parking lot. The deputy sheriff who investigated told me that that sort of thing happens frequently in that particular area of town. Park at your own risk. Do not assume that the presence of a security guard means your vehicle will be protected.

The food was really good we had the. 1/2 lb fajitas and man they are great the waitress (Christina) was on top of everything. I give her props because it was 15 of us. When we had to gave a our drinks refiled she was already coming with one even before we asked for one. I have been to this place a few times and I love their food. Excellent Carne Asada plate. BUT this past Saturday made me change my mind a little. We literally saw not 1 but 4 big roaches while eating, on the wall and floor. So disgusting! We informed to the waitress and she said they are tree roaches that come in from outside through the door from the patio. Then we talked to the manager not to get money back or anything but just to let her know whats going on, she said the same thing which kind of made sense. Again I love their food by I will reconsider going to eat there again.
