We went on a Saturday, and as expected it was busy. However brunch took almost 2 hours, the food was slow, and the staff ignored us and took forever to get our check! We got 2 menus for 3 people and we didnt even get the full menu, as we later had to get the vegan menu, like it was some sort of secret menu. I had hoped to get a vegan brunch but was informed nothing at the brunch was vegan, so I looked at the vegan menu. I asked the waiter if the cheese on the vegan pasta from the menu was vegan "fresh mozzarella", to which he responded yes, so I ordered it, since fresh mozzarella imitations are really hard to find. When the pasta came, it was daiya mozzarella - far from a fresh mozzarella imitation. Firstly anything other than fresh mozzarella does not belong on pasta, it should be Parmesan if they were going to cheap out or at the very least be typical American-Italian. Secondly daiya is a mediocre vegan cheese, there are far better vegan cheeses they could have used. Of all the vegan cheeses, daiya mozzarella (nor cheddar) belong on pasta. To add to my disappointment the pasta was very over cooked, now I admit Im used to pretty firm and more authentic pastas, but this was borderline slimy-mush. If you like Olive garden or its contemporaries, then it was just a vegan version of that. Other people at my table ordered non-vegan options and were quite impressed (the only reason Im giving this more than a one star). The mimosas were decent, then again I dont think you can really mess those up. However the table next to us did complain about them and demand a new one, so Im probably not an expert on bar drinks.

Came here for the Sunday brunch buffet to celebrate my birthday with my family and we were a party of 4 adults 2 kids and 2 babies with a couple who had a separate check. My husband ordered off the menu and the rest of us enjoyed the buffet. When the bill came the waiter charged me for the menu items, 3 adult buffets, 2 kids buffet at 10 and under and 2 kids buffet at 3 and under. So, you are going to charge me for two infants who dont eat solid foods to sit with us at the table at your restaurant?!? Naturally, I questioned the waiter about this and he argued with me that there was a third kid. My sister has one child and I have three, two of which (twins) are only 8 months old! He continued to argue with me even after he removed the charges for my twins who didnt even step foot in the buffet area. I give five stars for the food which is excellent, but deducted two stars because of the service. It left us with a bad taste in our mouths. Very disappointing since this was the first time my sister and her family ate here and I hyped it up so much.

Just wow. A very bad wow. Went on a Sunday evening bc this place had great reviews. I dont know how. We waited a good 10 minutes before anyone ever came to our table. We overlooked that bc we were in a good mood. We ordered an appetizer. Then the sesame encrusted tuna salad, and the flat bread Cesar salad combo. We NEVER got the appetizer. After about 25 minutes we got our salads and flat bread. The flatbread was ice cold, the mozzarella cheese was hard again probably from sitting in the kitchen too long. Both salad were swimming in dressing. And the cesar salad dressing tasted like bland mayonnaise. Ew. We told the waiter we never received our appetizer, he went to check on it but after several minutes did not come back. We tried to get the attention of another waitress, she looked at us and kept walking. After eating one bite of our salads we decided to leave. We looked for the hostess, a manager, someone but no one around. So we left. Absolutely do not recommended. Houstons best kept secret? Lets hope it stays that way.

Baba Yega is a great place to have Sunday brunch if you plan ahead and arrive early. They are consistently packed with the whole gamut of folks - some trying to recover from Saturday night. My favorite items on the buffet might surprise you but the mangoes and papayas are usually at peak ripeness. They have a cheese-free pesto penne that I usually doctor up with the adjacent smoked salmon that could easily be a light lunch by itself. While there is a whole station for omlettes, pancakes, waffles, and ham, I usually load up on the lunch items - a combination of breakfast sausage, herbed chicken, dill rice, and steamed veggies. Although there are more than fifteen different desserts my favorites are the chocolate covered bananas and strawberries and the bread pudding. Their bloody mary used to be one of my favorites in town with its spicy picked green bean and cajun spice rim, but it was too watered down the last time I had it. At $4 a glass, they might be better off to raise drink prices, than reduce the alcohol.

Sooo...I have heard so many great things about BRUNCH at this place and I promise to go for brunch but this review is about LUNCH. It was a cold a rainy day and Baba Yega was so WARM it was great! The Food: You have the option of ordering of the menu or the buffet. The Buffet is $15.00 across the board. I didnt go this route because I just waste food and money but it did look good.. it was Asian themed on the day I went and I am not sure how often that changes.. I ordered the Shrimp and Avocado Salad. The Salad was Amazing the dressing not so much. The sun dried tomato chipotle dressing the salad was paired with was tasteless and fell flat. Luckily I dipped tasted before pouring it on my salad. I opted for lemon juice and a little salt instead. It was good but I am certain that had it been paired with a different dressing (like a chipotle peach) it would have been fantastic! Parking was easy, the service was great and the place was WARM. A very important note when it gets gold in Houston..

My family and I ate a late lunch at Baba Yega yesterday. It was awful. We waited over an hour for our food and when it arrived, my daughters meal had the wrong side and my vegetarian California had a chicken breast. The runner who brought out our food did not apologize and kept trying to tell me the chicken dish was the California. I explained that I ordered the vegetarian option multiple times. Finally, he retreated back to the kitchen. Though the waiter came to the table and apologized, I waited an additional 30 minutes for my correct meal. By then, my entire family was done eating. And, unfortunately, it was not worth the wait. No one offered to take my meal off our bill and when the bill came, we were charged for the chicken California. The other food was not very good and though we enjoyed a meal at Baba Yega a few years ago, we will not return. Too expensive for bland food and bad service. Go some place else.

Man, Baba Yega. Ive been coming here for 17 years, and even through new management and other changes, its still a staple. I do miss the little witch shop that used to be attached but thats been gone years and years now, so whatever. Out-of-town guests are still brought here (sometimes twice in one weekend visit!). Saturday Brunch is only slightly less variety than the Sunday Brunch, but it is a better value and generally less waiting. I rarely drink anymore, but they still do carafes of different mimosas for around $20. For non-brunch suggestions, Ive never eaten a bad meal here. The turkey and brie sandwich, the rainbow trout, and the spinach salad are favorites. Burgers and fries are excellent. The iced herbal tea (Celestial Seasonings) is a nice option. They do have a full bar here, and if the weather is nice the patio seating cant be beat.
