I am sorry to say that I cant rate the food in this restaurant being that last Sunday we were not allowed to go in. I was hesitant to go in the first place but my boyfriend insisted. Being that it was Sunday and we were going to brunch we were dressed very casual. We were greeted by a teenager dressed in a suit and the first thing that came out of his mouth was that no caps or flip flops were allowed in the main eating area, in other words that our dress code was not up to their standards or at least that is what it sounded like to me. He then said they could sit us in the bar. I was so upset and offended that we decided to leave. I do want to thank the gentleman (a server or bartender) who came out to ask us to come back in but I didnt feel comfortable anymore. It is a shame that such a nice side of town has such poor customer service. In my line of work customer service is the most important thing to take in consideration and I am sorry to say that the employees at this restaurant were not aware of this. I understand if there is a dress code, but they could have directed us the the proper area without making it obvious we were not welcomed. My boyfriend seeing how upset and offended I was decided to call the manager to let him know what happened. He apologized and I thank him for that but I assure you that I will never step foot there again. Maybe I am just one more customer that this restaurant does not need but I can guarantee that many will read this review and think twice before going to visit Americas River Oaks

I came here for Houston Restaurant Weeks - it was a nice outing. They even had some drink specials to match the dinner. A mojito is always a nice pairing with latin food. My first course was the lobster duo - an excellent lobster bisque with a couple of lobster corn dog pops. The lobster in the corn dogs were sort of mixed with a sort of filling, not unlike a croquette. Not quite what I was hoping for, but still very delicious. My main course was their famous churrasco, an excellent cut of beef. Again, delicious, and super tender, though a bit on the small side. The sides mostly come on a separate plate, in the middle of the table to share. They were a little skimpy on those. I finished with a very rich chocolate cake paired with a nice port wine. The service was honestly only average, especially considering the sort of restaurant. And the normal menu prices are very high, so Im not sure Id make a quick trip back here.

Had our annual ladies christmas lunch last Friday, when we got there, no hostess to seat us, we even had reservations. The restaurant was not packed for lunch whatsoever, maybe 5-6 tables used, we sat ourselves as one of the ladies had made it there. The food was delicious, the waiter was good, but after an hour he kept coming by asking if we needed anythign, almost rushing us off, but we advised him we were in no rush to leave. Continued with our lunch and gift exchanges, then the waiter brings the check. We told him we werent ready, but since he brought it, we asked why he didnt ask if the ticket was together or separate? Rudely he responded, thats because we dont offer. We were shocked at the response! Regardless, we told him to separate the checks and we would not be dining at Americas after that day. This is Houston, everyone splits theirs checks, even Fogo de Chao! Rude Service.

With the in-laws in town we decided that we had to go out to a nice dinner one night. So...where else but Americas can deliver delicious dinners for picky eaters? I have said about all I can say in accolades of this restaurant. So this review is no different. The empanadas were delectable as always. The ceviche mixto was as delicious, light, and perfect as ever. The fried plantain chips and accompanying sauces were delightful. But the churrasco was the star of the show. Perfectly cooked medium rare, tender, and wonderful. And I have to admit, I ate most of the candied plantains and yucca that came as accompanying sides...Bad Matt...but happy Matt. Pairing all of this with a caipirinha and glass of red...Once again...well done Americas!!!

Came here for a business lunch and the look and feel of the place was great. Just dont look up at the light fixtures cause they are covered in dust. Food was completely bland, everybody had something from the lunch menu and was not impressed at all. No flavor whatsoever. Our waiter claimed the tres leeches was the "best in the world." You can get better at fiesta market. This was surprising as the chain is owned by the same company as churrascos which had way better food. I would only come back for the plantains and dipping sauces as that was the only thing that had any flavor.

The decor is very interesting and quite the conversation starter. The wait service was excellent and helped each other when one seamed to get swamped. As soon as we ran out of plantain chips, a new batch was on the way without ever having to ask. The waiter, Gustov, was very polite, and knowledgeable about the food as well as wine. I highly recommend the dessert as well. The resturaunt is well suited for a date night or for a large group.

The service is great, the manager even introduces his self to every table. The 3 stars comes from the food being bland. I ordered the 8 ounce Churrasco. And let me tell you it wasnt marinated. If youre wanting flavor one of the ladies had the lamb and it was apparently flavorful. From my table the biggest thing was the salad, corn, plantains, and lamb. The end. Steer clear of the fried fingerlings.

The Corduas strike again! Americas is great for everything from happy hour to a fancy not super fancy meal in River Oaks. The steak is cooked well. The drinks are decently priced. The appetizers are amazing. Although odd sounding, the potato chip crusted calamari blows regularly battered calamari out of the water. And shout out to Froy at the bar! He’s great!

I have had two private events this year at Americas River Oaks and they definitely will not be my last. From the help Madison gave me with organizing the events to the service staff who took care of my guests on the day of it was all incredible. The food was amazing and the drinks were fabulous. I cant praise them enough! Looking forward to my next visit!

Great happy hour menu with a lot of choices, and a fabulous location. Ive been three or four times now and only ever sat out on the balcony; its a great view of the surrounding area. Attentive service and excellent food. Love the plantain chips and chimichurri, in particular, and the ceviche is delicious. Highly recommended.

We came here for my birthday dinner and it happened to also be Houston Resturant Week(s). It was a great place to eat! The staff was very attentive and friendly and the food was amazing. I would come here again. It has a pretty swanky, modern vibe and I would suggest dressing up a bit if you are going for dinner.
