Had friends from Fort Worth visiting, so my wife and I our two year old son and our friends and there three year old son decided to try this place today. I personally worked in the restaurant industry for 13 years. Started out at 16 and stayed with the same company the whole time. I spent 9 of these years in management and 5 of those years as a General Store manager. This place is ran by management that is poorly trained and does not care. My wife had to take my son to the restroom to change him. The changing station is directly in front of the door as you walk in. While changing him another customer had become violently sick and as she rushed into the restroom she vomited all over my wife who had her back to the door. She called me mortified to come and collect my son. Our friend and my wife spent 30 minutes in the restroom trying to clean her up. She finally came out crying in her under shirt. I had notified management to the situation they had gone into the restroom and were not much help not offering any suggestions on how to help. So I asked to speak to the General manager after only getting a Im sorry but its not our fault from the assistant GM. Got the same from him. First off the food was maybe to the same quality as a Applebees but twice the price. In the business you are trained or should be trained a few key important rules to operate by. 1 Guests coming into your establishment should feel like they are being welcomed into your own home. 2 If a guest has a good experience they may tell one or two people, if they have a bad experience they may tell 20, 30, 50 or more people. Now if you can take that bad experience and turn it into a exceptional one they will still tell the same amount of people as if it was bad... why is this? Its because we have normal good experiences all the time. My wife will never forget the time someone got sick all over her at the Rain forest cafe. Will not forget that the management didnt care. You would think they would have taken a different approach. Im sorry this happend to you, can I get you a towel and a new shirt. You know what, I know this was not our fault but I want you to know that next time your visit is on us. Instead all I got was its not our fault. Im sorry but what do you want me to do about it. I said my wife is crying and mortified because she is so embarrassed. At least you could have offered her a shirt to cover up with. Then he said well ill give you a shirt. These people dont care at all! Dont go there with your hard earned money.

Ive been there more than 10 times in the last 3 years and only had one bad experience. It was a busy Saturday and I had a large party. It was 2 hours and 45 minutes before we were seated. Long waits are to be expected weekends and in large parties, but to keep a large party waiting and additional 45 minutes past the promised time isnt right. I believe the manager on duty should have advised us that we wouldnt be accommodated within the estimated time window and given us the option to find food elsewhere instead of insisting that our tables were being cleared and we would be seated next. But we waited, payed the bill and even spend additional money on the River Ride which was a lot of fun for the kids. All this happened in the middle of July and I told manager what I am writing here. She promised that the general manager would call me back and took my number, but to my knowledge I never received a call back. Its just as well. Im not sure what they could have said. I told the manager I didnt plan on ever coming back but realistically... I have young children so Ill inevitably find myself in a situation where Im forced to return. After all the food is good and the environment is what my kids like so Ill probably have to grin and bear it. Ill try to keep the party size lower than 6 and hope to get the same good service that I got in previous visits.

Ive been here several times. This specific Rainforest Cafe is known for being inside a big volcano. On the outside of the restaurant around dinner time they usually set up a bunch of people in the plaza with games and music and airbrush tattoos. The wait to get seated is usually pretty long because its located right in between the San Luis hotel and the Hilton Galveston Resort with lots of hungry families. The river adventure ride is $6 a person and its a fun thing to do while waiting to be seated. Its just a lazy River with animatronics, however it could be scary for little kids as there is a lightning storm and some dark scenes towards the end of the ride. Id say its worth $6 a person (but nothing more) as it has some cool features but its nothing crazy. Dont expect any drops or to get wet. The service itself in the restaurant is typical of any Landrys, pleasant overall. Prices for food are also typical of any Landry restaurant: $15-$20 a meal. The gift shop outside has a build a bear inside of it with rainforest creatures that kids can build. Overall this rainforest cafe is nicer than most when it comes to atmosphere, but besides the extra tourist activities during the summer its the same as any other Landrys.

The absolute WORST experience I have ever ever ever had at a restaurant. I had a HAIR in my shrimp scampi that looked to be a PUBIC hair. The sampler app was half cold, my steak ordered med rare came out well done and hard as a rock and my shrimp were more rubbery than a rubber bouncy ball. Second one was cooked right but still like chewing beef jerky. My kids received uncooked pizza with cold centers, my friends steak was a hard to chew undercooked mess, we had to ask for two glasses of tea at a time since we rarely saw our waitress, and get this.... AFTER I SAW THE FRIGGIN PUBIC HAIR they didnt offer to comp my horrible meal, but offered us a free friggin desert. I had to DEMAND a refund of my meal and that was all they refunded us. My kids didnt even touch their food but they charged us anyways. To top all that off... the woman manager actually argued with me about comping my UN-EATTEN meal saying she offered me a desert which we declined. STAY AWAY FROM THIS PLACE!!!! LANDRYS SHOULD BE ASHAMED TO CALL THIS PLACE PART IF THEIR CHAIN! To top that all off... we walked out of there owing over $75.00 AFTER they comped (by force) my meal.

This place is a little pricey for what we considered to be okay food. It is up there with the seafood prices you might find around town, only it tastes more like it should be $5-$10 cheaper. Now what youre really paying for I suppose is the atmosphere. It has animals and jungle-like decor all around where you will be dining. Now with the name comes the coolest part, a simulated rainfall will occur every 15-20 minutes. You will not actually get wet though! The animals go berserk and you will see all the kids get excited. So for that, it may be worth it to you paying extra money. I should also mention the service is quite consistently terrible. This last time, we were greeted by a host that must have had plastic surgery because she couldnt smile. We then waited 15 minutes (yes, we timed it) to even be greeted by a waiter. She told us she would find our waiter and be right back. We waited on her come back and informed us SHE will be our waiter instead. From there, the experience got better but not by much. Service was still quite slow. We had a $15 volcano which was delicious but probably better to eat with 3-4 people. It was a lot.
