I am editing my review based on an email conversation that I just had with one of the previous people involved with the cafe. The brother of the current owner lined out what was going on and I realize now that I was half mistaken. The place is not worth your time or money food quality wise, cleanliness wise, and price wise. I waited almost 2 hours for my last delivery while I was in town and my food was soggy and cold when I got it. I still think the fish is not what they say it is but he skirted that issue. As far as the owner issue it appears that the previous owner was attempting to take over ownership with the step-dad training them. The step-dad was the man I had talked to over the breakfast buffet and he flat out told me he was the owner. When I went back later that evening for dinner the younger man (son) told me he was the owner. This is why I was confused and thought something was going on. This same scenario played out this year when I visited. I greeted the older man over the breakfast buffet and he presented himself as owner again. Then later that day I met a woman who was the owner. I only ate at this place because of closeness to the hotel and the delivery. I will not be staying at the hotel the next time I go down on business so I will not have to deal with this place again. I do want to say that I appreciate the previous owner for taking the time to talk with me via email and letting me know that I was wrong. Evidently he is the brother of the current owner and he has nothing but good to say about them but at the same time he seemed real and legitimately concerned. I think I might have stepped into family drama without realizing it when in reality I thought there was some kind of scam going on. I am upping my review to 2 stars and admitting that I did error in my original review to a certain degree. I wish them the best but I will not be returning.

Bait and switch... Resturant leases from the poor exuse for a hotel nextdoor. Went for their breakfast buffet only to find your drink will cost you as much as the buffet. They charge an extra 99 cents for an omelet and 59 cents for a fried egg. Nickle and dime is the name of the game here. All food is subpar cafeteria heat and eat. Eggs were disgusting, gravy salty, biscuits bad, hash browns soggy. Its all dirty water heat tray warmed. When we requested our money back we got the oh woes me treatment from either the manager or the owner. Being condescending and derogatory. Even letting us know we suck as we left to go eat our free continental breakfast at our hotel. I advised the hotel of their tennants behavior and poor service and food. It is sad that I cannot give a negative star rating as the single star is an insult to resturants that earned atleast one. This hole in the wall and owner should find another buisness. One where yelling at people is appropriate. Update 7-22 @ 11:24pm: Let me also point out since the owner took the time to respond. I was not the one who spoke to you. That was the other guest. His opinion is his own. Mine was money back and leave. I told you nothing. Great to see how you behave in front of children. Cheap is the operable word here. This place is cheap and was cheapened even further with how you decided to react. And yes the free breakfast was better than your Sysco warmed up food. Dont over sell your " generous offer" and tell me it was a solution to give cheap breakfast to hotel guests. You earned a negative response with your negative response. I may not have gone to every travel site and placed a negative review had it not been for your outburst. Not very Christian of you.

OK, so I love hotdogs, and burgers. Lets just get that out of the way. Now, from the outside this place looks dead and boring on a Sunday afternoon. The place looks dull and touristy next to the Schlitterbahn hotel thats right outside the water park. The inside does not look much better. Drawings of African wildlife and African tribe masks lined against a dull blue wall does not really give justice to the name Bryants "JUNGLE" Cafe. But what this place lacks in style it COMPLETELY makes up in food diversity and taste. There is so many options Im not going to bother listing them all out, you can just have a look at the menu. This place has the best hotdog I have ever had outside my own home. What really sells the dogs here is the fact that they serve Nathans famous dogs. Not only that, they also dress them up with fresh tasty toppings that just perfectly compliments the dog. Fresh crispy bacon with grilled onions is the way to go here, folks! I personally added cheddar cheese myself, but feel free to have it anyway you want. Now, I didnt personally order the burger, but my wife did. The burger itself is actually not bad. I have a lot of experience with burgers, so believe me when I say my "not bad" is a "very good" to normal standards. (Im not trying to be full of myself here). Also the fries are awesome. Real potatoey and tasty. Anyways I like this restaurant. The staff at nice the food I ordered rocked. (except the Mac and cheese, dont get that) they even have a pool out back. The prices are fair and the food is good, if you need anything else take a dip in the pool and relax. I would definitely recommend!

We are weekend islanders and have eaten at many Galveston restaurants. We had seen the reviews for this café and finally decided to try it with some friends. We had a party of 10 and arrived right before closing time and they were kind enough to let us order if we didnt mind waiting for 20 minutes while they caught up on some to-go orders before they could take our order. We said no problem and had a seat. Our party ordered the Jungle burger, Dr Pepper BBQ Chicken Melt, Chili Cheese Fries, Rueben Gone Wild, Cajun Catfish, and a few other things. I normally dont write reviews for places that I am disappointed in by considering we came here because the reviews were so good I feel compelled to speak my mind. The best thing anyone had was the Dr Pepper BBQ Chicken Melt and it was just okay, nothing great. The chili cheese fries were not hot, the cheese not melted, and the chili appeared to be just finely chopped up brisket with a hint of a smokey flavor. The Rueben was cold as well and the catfish were alright. The burger was okay as well but we have had better burgers on the island. Not sure what all the good reviews are about; take your appetite and money elsewhere.

We came here wednesday night. About 8, its nothing amazing. The burgers were not that good. Whataburger is better in my opinion, only reason im giving then a 2 star is because they were still open at that time and one lady out of the whole crew was nice. 4 of us ate, 2 children n 2 adults, cost 45 dollars! The burgers dont come with the fries u got to buy they separately. The kids mac n cheese looks liked greasy clumbs of cheese with noodles, i mean it was bad! I order a burger with all the vegetables and cheese, got the burger and it just had cheese. Every bit was a bit of seasoning balls. Its was nasty. I took my girls to the bathroom afterwards to wash their hands and everything, theres only one stall no lock on the bathroom door. As soon as we got into the stall nats were flying around so much that i was having to kill them or we would have swallowed some... it is not a place we will be returning too ever!
