I was a frequent patron at Blue Water Grill when I used to visit Jamaica Beach a few years ago, and Ive been back a handful of times since. The food was always reliabily good. Burgers were generally juicy, and the pizza was tasty and not too thin as others have suggested. I really liked the colorful vibe of the interior, with unique quotes and artwork scattered around the place. This was a down-to-earth, "island time" establishment that I could rely on during trips to Galveston for solid food. However, the behavior of the owner here on Google and over at Yelp is frankly reprehensible and has convinced me not to visit this restaurant again when I return to Galveston. His ugly habit of calling critical reviewers "predators" (often combined with other odd sexual language, such as the word "molest"), accusing them of peddling "lies and hate," and, in the case of one review, revealing the real name of the person behind the username (!) and calling them a "criminal mind (...) involved in Jamaica Beach smuggling ring" (what does that even mean?) is disgusting, unprofessional, and downright disturbing. The same behavior can be witnessed on Yelp (albiet less often), where the owner called a negative reviewer a "hillbilly and a simpleton" and accused him of "smiling sadistically" at him. This level of egocentrism should not be supported or tolerated. I will not be bringing my money or friends here again. I really did enjoy this place, but the ugly behavior of the owner has dissuaded me from ever setting foot in here again. He may respond to this review calling me a liar, a predator, hateful, a "paradox," make up a mean nickname for me, concoct some overwrought word salad to attempt to psychoanalyze why Im so "cruel," or tell me I should seek help from a therapist. These are all things he has done in past responses. Im anticipating such a response. However, at the end of the day, Im simply a former patron of this restaurant who is appalled by the callous and mean-spirited behavior of this owner, who seems unable to handle a ubiquitous thing in professional life: criticism. We all saw what happened with Amys Baking Company; waging wars against your customers on the Internet does not end well. Customers may be wrong or leave nasty reviews, but the owner is not always right either, and it is certainly not okay to engage in such petty, spiteful behavior. The negative reviewers all had legitimate points about the level of service provided at Blue Water and the quality/price of their food. The owner, sadly, chose to respond to those valid criticisms with petty name-calling, slanderous accusations, and even a mean-spirited revealing of personal information. That sort of behavior is unprofessional and surely does not fit the culture of hospitality that Galveston is well-known for.

Horrible. Owner a complete idiot. I am a local. Tried to order food tonight. He answered the phone : Blue Water Grill open every day till 9; I jokingly sai except yesterday when you closed at 6:45/ He hung up the phone. I thought maybe phone problems so I called back 5 times only to get the answering machine. Finally thinking some stupid idiot employee didnt want to answer the phone I blocked my number and someone answered. They asked if it was Walters Gladden (which was backward) and I said yes. They they hung up the phone. Well I thought then some raelly idiot just wanted to get off early and hung up on me. I then went up there to find that the real idiot was the owner. He started out to say that he has neurological problems and his toes were to be taken off in the morning. I thought Jesus this gut had problems and I understand. He then proceeded to tell me he was tired of people making fun of his business closing early and he didnt need my business of any of my friends business. People from Bucks Bar always complained and he had a "robust" business and didnt need ours. Well I do go to Bucks and like to but I never told him that. Happy to be in the same category but this guy doesnt have a clue. I felt sorry for him at first but has proved to be an absolute complete idiot. Dont know how he has stayed in business this long. I guess even a blind hog can find an acorn every now and then. There are a lot of businesses on the west end I love to support but not an idiot like him. I give him 6 months.

This was the most unpleasant dining experience I have ever had. The food was okay, except my 80 year old mothers chicken was overcooked - so much so that she couldnt chew it. I took the sandwich back and asked them to replace it. They agreed to make a club sandwich. It took 20 more minutes to get the sandwich and the bacon on it was burnt black. Mom ate as much as she could. As we were leaving she went up to the owner and said something about the food. He went off on her. He said, "That chicken was fine. I ate it when you sent it back to the kitchen." Then he started telling her she was the beast and she was evil. I stepped in and told him not to talk to my mother that way. He started yelling "Beast" at me and then went out to the parking lot and told our entire party of 7 that we were "the beast" and that we were evil. Then he started spewing bible verses to ward off the evil from us. The man has serious problems. Even if the food werent lousy I think it is a dangerous place to eat.

I took my friend there, what a crazy experience!! Sign @ door said Narcotics dealers use side door... odd so I asked the owner about that sign, he started rambling about the mayor is a drug lord and the cops are delivering them! The cops came in and arrested him for no reason, and Nate is part of this ring!! He had been picketing a plywood sign he painted, around city hall, it had been standing under counter where we ordered. Sounded weird and scary, (I own a beach house in Jamaica) Then we were handed a menu and was informed that after 4pm you can only order pizza and salad... ?? Pizza was bad and the salad was horrible.... how can you mess up a salad??? With the gross dressing and junk lettuce. I went to the owner to asked for a different dressing, he slammed the kitchen door in my face!! HORRIBLE CUSTOMER SERVICE!! I so agree this is a DANGEROUS PLACE.

Let me start by saying theres a big BUT coming. The place is shabby - something youd expect in a beachside establishement where swimsuit clad patrons would saunter in and pop a squat in the ac for a bit, but its nowhere near the water, so it seems rundown instead. The place is BYOB if that interests you- the manger (owner?) says you should buy your drink next door because they dont offer much in the way of anything to drink. The bathroom door is propped open with a fan blowing air out into the "resteraunt." On top of all this, the prices are extremly high. So why the 4 stars? The food. It is out-freakn- standing! I had the double buger, my wife had the BLT, and the kids split a pizza. Everything was amazing! Do yourself a favor-call ahead, pick up your order, and take it back to your place to enjoy. You wont be dissapointed.
