I usually dont write reviews and I really should start… But I had to review this... I cannot comment on the atmosphere (or things alike in the dine-in experience) because my dad ordered for dinner tonight (take-out). And Boy, was it so disappointing. My dad spent over $40 on Chinese food! Like Wow? Pepper Steak $10.95 Chicken Kabob $10.95 Crispy Duck $15.95 Plus Tax Totaling $40.97 The price isn’t totally outrages…but for the quality of food it sorta is. I honestly would prefer microwave easy food. I will say that in terms of food, I usually have far a bad perception (I will admit). And I will give them a few lenient considering it was take-out and I CANNOT expect amazing from a Chinese fast-food style but I would like to comment on the food itself. The Pepper steak was avg in terms of quality. (maybe less) The chicken Kabob, after 25 mins (15 min drive time + 10 mins ) the chicken was completely dry. Don’t get me wrong, it probably would have been better if I had eaten as soon as the food got home, but it was just worse than the plain chicken breast I cook (without condiments when I go on a diet). The food came with good amount of vegetables (such as broccoli) I will comment that it probably doesn’t have too much condiments because it sort of bland (which can be a slightly healthier option) because maybe it was just steamed… anyways I will consider that a positive (but to the average person… they would hate that…) I would like to say my dad was really disappointed and even called the food trash (lol)… and to be honest he ordered for the whole entire family of four… however (him and my mom) ended up eating over 75% of the food before I even arrived at the table (they aren’t close to being overweight) and in the process of writing this review my mom even commented on how bad the food was… $40 could have been spent elsewhere. As a person who loves chinese food and likes panda express This restraunt makes panda express look like a 5 star restaurant.

When we lived in Grapevine, we tried several different local places (Lewisville included) to see which Chinese food restaurant was the best in the area. We always ended up liking these restaurants, but none really stood out above the rest to us. Then my boss took me to Empress of China one day for lunch, and I honestly cant think of the last Chinese food restaurant that impressed me as much. Their sauces actually have full, different flavors, not just the same basic watered down brown sauce with a little sweet here or a little heat there. When I realized they are only 5 minutes away from where my husband and I currently live, I knew we wouldnt be trying any other Chinese restaurants anymore. They are a little pricey, but the amount of food you get should stretch out for at least 2 more meals, and I feel it is completely worth it. My husband ended up loving them too. When you go, try the Spicy Sichuan Steamed Wontons: they are the best dumplings Ive ever had. Also try any of their Szechuan cuisines (delicious). Maybe steer clear of the curry cuisines... of everything I have tried, the Canton Curry was the only thing that made me say, "Meh." (Ive also read some other reviews on here, and can honestly say I have not once had any poor experience with the staff or management. Every delivery has been under the quoted time, and every dine-in experience has been good... sometimes great. Also, if you like Panda Express, you actually may not like this place. I think Panda Express is disgusting... to me it is the Little Caesars of Chinese places. So if youre a fan of crappy flash-cooked Chinese, you most likely will not appreciate Empress of China. And I have friends that prefer crappy pizza to authentic New York style pizzas, so to each his own! I hope this was helpful.)

Empress Of China is one of those restaurants that is definitely a go to move from time to time. I wanted to come on here and give a review because last night I came to the location to get some Chinese takeout. The gentleman who was giving my order remarked that there was some confusion as to whether not we ordered lo mein or chow mein. They made us chow mein which was wrong. They apologized profusely and corrected the order. While this was happening there was what I can only describe as an altercation between some people who were eating in the dining room and one of the waiters. The customers actually came across as quite rude while asking the wait staff why they were getiing so loud. When the wait staff tried to explain how short staffed they were , one of the customers said "I dont want to hear your problems". After this they were bragging about how they were going to get a free meal out of this and what not. I was really embarrassed by their behavior that it made me ashamed to be white in America. I have to say that the wait staff handled the situation about as well as could be handled. Empress Of China like I said is a go to restaurant for us. And it will continue to be.

Very unsure how I could be living near this place practically since birth and not know about it. I know that PF Changs is a very different animal (Fusion vs. Traditional) but for the longest time thats the only place we knew served decent crispy duck. That said- Holy goodness- Forget PF Changs. Besides the fact they took duck off the menu ages ago and they charged the same price for 8 measly slices of breast meat- this was a million years better, practically served half a duck and pretty much NEXT DOOR. We totally over ordered- not because we got too many dishes- but because we had no idea about portions given. They were generous to the extreme. We ate until we were miserable, still have leftovers that were currently eyeing for lunch, and we still keep talking about how GOOD the food was. Delivery was quick, accurate and very friendly. The employee that took our phone order was helpful and kind. The food was amazing. Did I mention we thought the food was amazing? If budget allowed wed be eating here twice a week... as it is, I can already tell well be back and soon.

Just tried to have dinner at the Empress. We dine there pretty regularly, and the service has been prompt, food good and were in and out without a lot of waiting. Tonight was the worst dining experience Ive had at the Empress. This was an 1.5 hour of waiting on food that never came. Our pan-fired dumplings, which are normally excellent, were burned on the bottom and cold. The waitress asked me 3 times what my order was, finally brought my wife her food after an hour and her food was cold. My food arrived 30 minutes later, and the order was wrong. I asked for the check, paid and left. This is really unfortunate as Empress was one of the better Chinese restaurants in Flower Mound. After this experience, I wont be returning for a while. I hope the management fixes the service problem and improves the staff. It was really a bad experience and I wouldnt recommend Empress to anyone until service improves.

Who are these people whove had all these outlandish experiences here? Our family has been coming here for 10 yrs for lunch and never had anything but great food and great servers. We have stopped in for dinner a few times & had take out several times in the evening with same food quality and service as our lunch experiences. Its the only Chinese food I like anywhere. I try other places that are cheaper, but always come back here because I can count on getting a yummy meal, thus Ill pay a bit more. They have cut back on the shrimp in the Won Ton soup, but food costs have gone through the roof since the commie freaks in the EPA, FDA & all the other government agencies have been given free reign to terrorize our food suppliers with insane "regulations" under the Obama administration. I find these negative reviews super curious. Youd think in 10 yrs. Id seen what they complain about at least once.
