The only reason that I am giving this place 4 stars is because I have being going to this place for AT LEAST 3 years and no matter where I travel to , when I hear anyone say "Dallas" I tell them "Zennas". Its sad to say this last visit changed it all. My husband planned a romantic day for my last birthday, he had never been, but always heard me refer to Zennas as my favorite place in America. Upon Arriving there was two other tables and us . One of the tables (young punks) being loud, swearing , that kind of crowd . The other one was a single woman who clearly had way to much , sleeping all over the place. I was simply excited About being there so I did not mind . The lunch was a great kickoff to my birthday . Out waitress explained how poor management has been and how she is the only server, so if we could be patient with her. We was more than patient, I use to serve so I complete could understand the stress on her face dealing with the jerks at the other table. Once my husband had the whole day on a time frame of how it was suppose to work. So he kindly asked for our bill. We waited so long that we had to ask the host for it again. Our waitress finally came back with it and my husband handed her a bill before sitting it down , she told us that she would be right back. Almost 15 minutes later she came back and asked if she could have a smaller bill because no one could break down something that big. We had 500 hundred dollars in cash that day, I know because we said before leave home thats all we would be spending that day, witch was all in hundreds. My husband explained the situation to her , we had our credit cards with us but they had been left back in the trunk of the car where I left my purse. We seriously had parked almost 4 miles out of the way (closer to our next destination) . Our waitress told us that she would be right back. At this time one of the young jerks decided this was the time to make advances to me, my husband was ready to go , I could tell that he was not enjoying this at all but trying to keep his temper under control seeing how we started the day off perfect. Our waitress apologized for the other tables gestures and told us that she would pay our bill so we could leave and go to get smaller bills, as long as we promised to return with the money. We had no problem with this, even asked if she was sure it was ok. She agreed, and so we proceed to leave. On our wAy out , we noticed how behind on time we had become, my husband is a very honest man and felt horrible, he decided to stop at the hostess desk and asked if there is anyway she could break a hundred, explaining the situation to her she then says @well you guys cant leave". Now I am normally an outgoing woman myself but at this point I did not like this experience at all! I then explained the situation one more time explaining that we had to leave in order to get them change seeing how they are unable to accept our pay. There is no signs nor warnings so we did not come prepared for this situation before eating. She asked could at least one of us stay. My husband explained how he would be uncomfortable with me staying behind with the other tables advances and how he would feel extremely uncomfortable sending me on a four mile walk in Dallas wearing heels and a dress to get our cards alone . She then told us that she thinks we are trying to skip out on our bill and she would be calling the cops, sending the other host to find our waitress. Now I was ticked! A few hours into my birthday and Im having to deal with this! I told her that ether they could call the cops or I was but we are leaving now. Our waitress finally shows up (who knows where she was) explaining to the host what the problem was . I guess in this time someone else at the bar had paid out and they was then able to accept our bill and we left. I now refer no one to this place , I am embarrassed how they handled us like thiefs when it was their own inconvenience that caused the problem.

I placed an online delivery order today at 4:30 for a bowl of soup and two appetizers and a dessert . I was contacted 1.5 hours later by the delivery guy who was trying to fill my order as the kitchen staff had left it undone . When he brought my order I immediately called the restaurant to let them know I had received a 1/2 empty container of broth only in place of my tom ka soup .. I asked to speak to the manager and the hostess told me he was too busy so I asked if they would please send me the soup I had ordered and paid for and she then hung up on me. I tried several times to call back and she just kept hanging up the phone without ever answering it . I then called back the delivery guy who had contacted me about my order .. his name is Joshua and he stated that he had even questioned the cooks about the small container of broth they had made for me and they blew him off and told him they didnt have time and to just deliver it to me .. he went back and spoke to the manager on my behalf who was still too busy to call me. Josh then called me back and said hed gotten permission to bring me something else .. he went and personally filled my order and then delivered it at almost 8:30 pm.. I was shocked by the treatment I had received by both the hostess and the manager and wanted to make you all aware that it was the delivery guy who went way out of his way to make things right for me , as Im home sick and just wanted some soup .. this guy is the one who should be managing that store !! I wanted it known the treatment I received and who had made things right . Thanks

I understand dinner rushes but when your server is chopping it up with the table next to you and another table full of guys but barely talks to you and your female companion WHILE the restaurant is busy, theres a problem. Our server was not as attentive as she was to the table next to us. It took roughly 10 minutes after the host sat us before she came by and took our drink order, then another 20 before we received them in to-go cups because she forgot and the restaurant was out of regular glasses. Once the food arrived, my companions was fresh but one of the rolls I had ordered did not have the baked scallops at the correct temperature. I waited for the server to show back up to ask if the roll was supposed to be cooked to which she said no, I then told her it was cold and I did not like the roll. She did not offer to replace the roll or talk to the manager or anything. She left it at that and went back to her other tables. We paid the check and I stopped by the hostess stand to ask for their manager where they informed me there was not one on the floor... so I asked her about the situation with the roll to which she informed me that yes the scallops should have been cooked. I told her to please let them know that the dish I received was cold so that it would not happen to someone else. This was the first time I had ever been to the Mesquite location and will not be going back. They are in definite need of menu training for their staff as well as having an assistant manager or manger on the floor. Very disappointed.
