Bland food, rude inhospitable service for overpriced sushi. As a first time patron of Steel I was surprised to see such a dead restaurant on a Thursday night. Great atmosphere, but very unwelcoming service from the moment we walked in, even with a party of ten people. Every question was met with a snide remark. The sushi was nothing special... bland and easily fell apart when trying to pick it up with chopsticks. The rude service reached a boil when the solo check arrived. We were not informed of the cake cutting fee and when we politely questioned the assistant general manager about the surprise charge; he was unswervingly impolite. He told we should have asked. I dont believe it is customary for patrons to have to ask, "Will you be charging me any hidden fees for any services or products I am unaware of tonight?" I do believe it is the restaurants job to inform me of a service before I am billed for it. We did not even ask for the charge to be removed; we simply inquiring as to why it was never mentioned over the phone or in person. He response was, "We deal with this ALL the time and we NEVER take off the charge. What did you expect?" It was never about the $25 charge; it was about the principle of the business matter. Patrons should be treated with respect and courtesy. I should not have to ask to see your policy and service practices to anticipate management deception before I dine at your restaurant. The management also declined to split the bill, leaving ten people to try to divide out individual costs for dinner and cocktail charges. Steel really knew how to ruin two peoples birthdays (one of the birthday girls left in tears) and lose ten patrons. Nearly $400 bill and the management could not be polite enough to calmly discuss store policy and try to listen to customer dissatisfaction. I really hope that $25 charge was worth ruining ten peoples birthday dinner experience. I know none of us will ever return to Steel nor refer any future customers to Steel.

Well let me start off by saying that I and 10, yes 10, other women under the age of 30 went to Steel to celebrate 2 of the girls birthdays. We were really looking forward to it because of all of the wonderful raves on google reviews. WRONG!!! They called to confirm our reservation and asked if we were celebrating anything special. Yes, as a matter of fact we were. There was never a mention of any cake fee by this point. A girl brought in a cake, handed it to the waiter, the waiter took it to the back kitchen, cut it and brought it out when it was dessert time. That is what a typical restaurant does - or so we thought. So then on our bill was a $25.00 cake cutting fee. Excuse me, what? When we asked to speak to the manager, the rudest human on earth came to greet our table with a chip on his shoulder. He was eager to be uncooperative and said that he deals with this all the time but that we should have asked if there was a fee. How about maybe they should have told US? RUDE, RUDE, RUDE! The sushi rolls were disheveled and you could hardly pick them up with chopsticks. Overall, I would never spend a special occasion or even ask a homeless man to eat there. It was a terrible ending to what should have been a momentous occasion with great friends:( To the ASSistant General Manager at Steel, you suck and I will be spreading the news to everyone I know - and I know lots.

Best dinner we have had in months! Everything tasted amazing and was so fresh and flavorful. If you havent been there, GO!!! We started out with two cocktails which were awesome. We had never eaten here before, so the manager and server told us to let them bring us their personal favorites and design a course meal for us. I dont know if everything on the menu is amazing but everything they brought us was! We started out with a sashimi appetizer, I think it was Yellowtail, with a fresh jalapeño and dab of Siracha sauce on each piece over bed of tangy sauce (My favorite dish!) Then they brought us shrimp dumpling with a side sauce that was absolutely delicious, and Im not a big shrimp fan. Next, they brought two rolls, both very tasty. My finances favorite part was what came next, a Chilean Sea Bass they marinate with soy sauce, sake, and sugar overnight and it tastes like lobster and butter! Would have never ordered it but we will be next time! To finish off the meal, they brought us a chocolate "roll", a perfect way to end the meal, not too much but just enough sweetness. I rarely write reviews but this was the best food and service weve had in a long time, and we go out to eat 3-4 times a week. This is somewhere you should go for your next dinner. It was worth every penny and then some!!!

Great sushi and maki; amazing dishes like sea bass and crispy fried soft shell crab. This restaurant is not trying to be "authentic Japanese" on either style or food; this is Americanized, Dallasized, uptown sushi. The rice is basmati!!! It is a very pleasant dining and going out experience but not if your heart was set on good sushi in a Japanese-ish environment. Why even bother having asian sushi chefs? The service definitely aims to please. Great place for a date.

Enjoyed lunch here last week. Ordered (with a friend) the Tuna Tower, Dragon Roll and a Zebra Roll. All of them were amazing both in presentation and flavor. Atmosphere was excellent, with early lunch arrivals seated sparsely throughout the area. Service was excellent and prompt. Very friendly staff. Highly recommend if you want a higher end sushi experience in the Oak Lawn area.

I ordered the butterfly kiss and California roll. Both were actually good sized portions although the roll was kind of soggy. The food itself tasted Ok, however, our server got our order wrong and it took quite a while to get it switched to the right one. Overall, my experience was the food was not food, but they could improve on the service. Otherwise, clean place.

I have to admit, the price is a little high than usual for sushi. But honestly, it is totally worth it! Their sushi is always fresh & I love the way they put it. If youre ever in the Dallas-Downtown area, this is a must to try out if you ever crave for sushi. I love the decor, very elegant & classy. & the service is always a welcoming.

So excited to have a sushi place nearby thats good AND affordable! Ordered the Cheshire bowl which was filling and pretty decent sushi. Metered parking is relatively easy to find during the day but be prepared to search for a WHILE at night. Definitely a lot of potential. I plan on coming back to try out the rest of the menu.

Great Sushi in Dallas! My wife and I love sushi, so I decided to take her here for her birthday. Although it is a bit pricy, it was worth it for a rare night out without kids! We definitely wouldn’t eat here much because of the price, but I highly recommend it for a special occasion if you love sushi!

I love their bento boxes for lunch, so I was really looking forward to dinner. Unfortunately, dinner was overpriced and far from tasty. There are much better sushi places in Dallas, and Steele served some of the worst Korean Beef I have ever had. Too bad.
