Ive been here multiple times and its always fantastic. Be sure to go in the morning because they always sell out near closing time - their baked goods are that good. They have a couple of pastries that are fantastic. I forget what theyre called but talk to chefs behind the counter they are always really helpful. I am actually writing this review more to recognize the extraordinary service that we experienced more than anything else. I walked in and asked for recommendations - to which they happily responded with a wealth of options. Given then variety, we naturally flip-flopped our order at least a half-a-dozen times. They were still very polite and accommodated our clearly annoying order with a smile. Finally, when they returned change on our order, someone in my party decided on of the bills was ripped. Without hesitation one of the vendors whipped out his personal wallet and offered her change. We were clearly not the best customers but each of the employees maintained their demeanor and treated us with professionalism and a smile. Not only is does this bakery have fantastic products but they demonstrated a clear commitment to customer service as well. Thank you and be sure Ill be back many times.

Ive been looking for a nice bakery where I can get freshly prepared pastry. This is it, the best ive found in Dallas! Village Baking Co is in the old Whole Foods Bakehouse, and really does have the feel of a startup operation. There is a good selection of breads and sweet breads I chose the almond paste filled one. There smell is amazing when you first walk in and the room is filled with all sorts of treats. Free coffee rounds out the experience. There is no space to sit and enjoy your treats, or any storefront where you can do anything other then grab and go. What I would like to see is some sort of storefront where I can sit down, and talk to friends while enjoying the treats from the oven. I totally recommend this for anyone looking for a great local bakery.

Im shocked there are less than 4 star ratings. Maybe a bad day for the bakery (or the reviewer?). Only two bakeries in Dallas I have found that equal European breads. this one and Empire Baking. Empire has more choices for sure, but its way over in Inwood village. Baguettes here are authentic. Whole Foods had a nice Baguette at one time but they went downhill when they started to ship their bake goods up from Austin. I told the regional manager at Whole Foods they should bring back their local baked products (of course, they dont have a bakery anymore; that is where Village Baking Co is now). Ill have to admit, i havent tried the croissants here yet; just the main breads and baguettes.

The almond croissants were nice and flaky on the outside, had a almond paste on the inside, but were lacking the melt in your mouth layers that would make it a 5. Dont get me wrong. These are a near-perfect croissants. Best Ive had in Dallas. We also got the little flat almond cookies - impulse buy at the register :) They were crumbly and light and I pretended they had no calories. Next time I plan on trying out their breads then heading over to Jimmys for some meat and cheese.

Well. Its not the worst ive ever had, but by far isnt a 5 star bakery. Im not sure if the bread was under kneaded or just under cooked, but was extremely heavy. The sourdough could of been cooked longer. The croissants were really heavy also. For dallas that lacks real bakeries this place is ok. The Canelle was a little bland and didnt have the nice crust, but it could be that its a humid day.

This is an accessible bakery of both mainstay and inventive croissants and cookies. I had a ham & cheese croissant, along with sampling their chocolate and bacon-cheese siblings. I found the fillings to be scant and the pastry a little less flakey than I prefer. Still, its a great place to find that something to accompany your morning coffee or English breakfast tea in my case.

Honestly love this bakery! Some complain that their goods are not fresh and are horrible but if you go in the morning when they are still warm you will definitely reconsider! Definitely try the croissants and cinnamon &a sugar pastries. so yummy!!

I dont have a lot of experience with authentic French baking but this place seems like the real deal. The best things Ive had are the kouign amann (extremely flaky and buttery) and the canelé (vanilla one is better). Highly recommended.

The quality of pastries and mini cakes is second to none: it is like going to a bakery in Europe while in Dallas. It is a real temptation: what an amazing experience!!! We cant wait to buy there again.....

Very good. It seems a little on the expensive side but everything I have had has been good. I would highly recommend stopping by early in the morning while the pastries are still warm!

Had a spinach and feta croissant. Great crust, very flaky. Interior was a bit too moist from the water in the spinach, but the ingredients tasted very fresh.

When it comes to croissants...this place can not be beat. The ham & cheese are the best in the city and the chocolate filled croissant is perfection. Enjoy :)
