I was unfaithful, I have been cheating. I was caught last weekend. Part of the healing process, so I am told, is to admit it and make it real. As I wannabe writer I decided to put my story on paper for all to read and judge for themselves. It started innocently at first. A simple late night stop, only 15 minutes because I was working late. Then twice a week, and then on the weekends. I didnt even think I was doing anything wrong. In fact it didnt even register to me at all, it just seemed so natural. I think the real reason for my transgression was convince, and right now Whole Foods is more convenient for me then Central Market. Central Market has been nothing but good to me. Inspiring me with their week long celebrations to the Hatch Chili, the grill, citrus or just a Romanesque celebration for summer. I was family to the people who worked there. I knew then stock boy who diligently placed each endive on a block of crushed ice handling each with the same care that you would expect someone who holds a baby chick. The two sausagemisters who would grind sausages and make recommendations to me of what was freshest, or how they eat them with their family. The wine buyers eyes would light up when I arrived and would share the best gossip around the store with me. He would suggest I wait a week before buying a wine because next week there would be a sale to take advantage of. Even the baker, and gentleman at the check out counter recognized me. Now I pass these isles and they look at me like I am a stranger. Their trust is broken, all because I started shopping at Whole Foods to save a few minutes drive. Dont get me wrong, its not Whole Foods fault, its totally mine. There is nothing wrong with Whole Foods. In a different life perhaps... What makes Central Market so unique is the way each of the staff treat me when I walk in. They know they are one of a kind in Dallas and are proud of their goods and their store. For those of you looking for the anti-Whole Foods, this is your spot.

We just recently moved here from Seattle, where I heard awesome things about Central Market. I was very excited for my first shopping experience yesterday. Imagine my surprise when I received the worst customer service I have encountered in a very long time. Merchant # 301649730. Audit # 49521. Central Market # 552. 5:20pm. Cashier DANA Y - 783955 was extremely rude to me. As I mentioned, this was my first shopping experience. At check out, there was no greeting, no indication that I was even there until the first thing she did was hold up my brown paper bag and in a very rude tone, say "what is this?" I said, "peaches". She said; "well, what KIND of peaches?" I said, "I dont know". She said; "well you are SUPPOSE to weigh them and mark them. Its what everyone else does, and it makes it go much faster." (this was said while she rolled her eyes and scowled at me). Each consecutive item of produce was met with an exasperated sign and shed whip out the produce book and make a big deal of the fact that I was holding her up. I was so embarrassed and humiliated. She was so obviously about the fact that she was fed up with me, that the last two items she didnt even bother to look up- she just threw them in my bag and said; "here, these are free- just dont EVER do that again!" I told her that for what I spent, I did not expect to receive such poor customer service and I left with my tail between my legs - after having been throughly beaten down by this clerk repeatedly. I loved the selection at the store, but I will have to seriously consider if I want to risk coming back... even though I now "know the rules".

Be careful at the checkout ! I was overcharged by several dollars today. I returned to the store and after waiting quite some timeI did get my money back. I asked the customer service rep. if they would be correcting the problem so that other customers would not continue to be overcharged and he said not until the following day. I have to wonder if they would wait if customers were being undercharged. I have also found quite a few items on the shelves past their sell-by dates. Another problem is that the reheating instructions on their chef-made meals are almost always wrong and if they are followed you risk eating food that has not been heated to a safe temperature. These are very basic things that customers who believe that they are shopping at a better grocery store should not have to be concerned about.

Central Market is the Disney World of grocery stores. They truly go above and beyond on selection, and there are so many specialty products carried here that cannot be found anywhere else in DFW. Pro tip: Central Market also carries a good selection of HEB private-label essentials, so if you moved from another part of the state and miss your HEB products, they might just have what you are looking for (and at HEBs typical pricing, to boot). Service is always phenomenal too, and the store is adequately staffed even on weekends and during the weekday after-work rush. Definitely a must shop in DFW, particularly if you are coming from out of town! Now if we could just get some full-line HEBs up here.

Farm fresh vegetables, choice meats from the butcher and a wide selection of seafood from the fish monger make this a great place to shop. They also sport a wide selection of wines and beers, along with some hard-to-find imported food items. The deli has a great selection of in-house and name brand meats and cheeses and the prepared food area is great for a quick meal on the go or to grab something for a no-hassle, quality dinner. They typically have food stations out with samples for you to find new flavors. Central Market offers a fun shopping experience and has some of the best selection of quality products around.

Central market is always a 5 star stop, although I am rating this 3 stars...it has nothing to do with the selection and services. When you cant select your food with thought and patience which everyone should do, there is a problem. The location makes this a super trafficked hwy of grocery grabbers and the people absolutely have no manners. One should enjoy their decision process when picking quality products, not feel rushed and always in somebodys way. This is just my opinion, if your like me and you dont like large crowds of people always bumping into you... this location is not for you.

Love this store. They have the most amazing produce ever. I love that they carry some Canadian produce and local Texas organic produce. They have a decent grass fed beef selection and lamb. The seafood dept is super snotty. I only get when I dont have time to run to Kroger @ Mockingbird ( which has the same seafood for less price and they are nicer). They also carry local grass fed milk non homogenized and the most amazing goat yogurts ever. Good cheese and deli. I love the H-E-B brand organic products and wish they carried more. The feature of the store is their produce.
