Im in the area for business and have been trying to find good Bar-B-Q, so I gave Pappas a try. Its setup cafeteria style, and when I was there I tried the weekend all-you-can-eat special to try a bit of everything. I immediately ran into some communication challenges as I do not speak Spanish and none of the staff I interacted with spoke very good English, and had a hard time communicating that I wished to get the all-you-can-eat special. Eventually I was able to get some food, and found the sausage, ribs, corn, and baked beans to all be very good. I went back up for more ribs and to try the sliced beef, and while I was back in line I found that the self-serve fountain pop machine had run out of diet coke syrup. I (with some difficulty) finally managed to communicate this to the staff but they were unable/unwilling to figure it out. I went back to my table with no drink. The beef was basically brisket and was pretty good, but not as good as the ribs or sausage. I got up to get some water as there was still no diet soda available, and when I came back, someone was clearing off my table. I tried to explain to the staff member, who clearly spoke no English, that I wasnt done eating, and he just shrugged and kept bussing the table. I wasnt really hungry anymore and was only going to finish what Id ordered, so I just walked out in annoyance. Based on the communication issues and my food being taken from me, I would not return.

Given how much I enjoy Pappadeaux Seafood Kitchen I was excited to visit Pappas Bar-B-Q. Suffice it to say I was not as impressed with their barbeque as I am with their seafood. The atmosphere of the establishment emulates traditional barbeque joints where you have to stand in line and order similar to a cafeteria. I was there on a slow night so there was no wait. It was a clean spot and the staff were happy and helpful. I ordered the 4 Rib Platter with mac and cheese, green beans and fries. The ribs were over smoked and depending on your tastes that is either a good or bad thing. They were not tough but not tender either. The bbq sauce was very average. The mac and cheese and greens were poorly seasoned. The fresh cut fries were great. It was one of the best things there. I also enjoyed the chocolate chip cookie. I have had much better barbeque in other places including mom and pop and chain establishments. I probably will not be back.

Ordered the 1/2 bbq chicken, the chicken baked potato, and the chopped beef baked potato... The sides were mac and cheese, and fresh cut french fries. The 1/2 chicken was cooked perfectly, not dry, but couldve used a bit more seasoning on the meat. Didnt like the bbq sauce, it was lumpy, very oily, and too runny. The mac and cheese was made with large shell pasta, but is delicious. The fries are cut fresh daily, and are quite good. The baked potato with chicken was EXTREMELY GOOD, made with chicken breast, it was flavorful, tender, and not at all dry. Very good!! The chopped beef potato was equally delicious, so tender, and juicy and full of yummy smoky flavor. ;-) We are one happily fed family of four... We will definitely be eating here many more times. ;-)

Not impressed. Im traveling and Ive never been to this restaurant before. Not one person in there at the time and lady states, the line starts down there...Ordered chicken sandwich. When I got to register, lady runs my card and says took your card a long time?... Uh, that seems rude... When I got seated and I couldnt eat my sandwich.. it was very dry. Went back to ask if I could pay for some sauce. The gentleman gives me approximately 2-3 tablespoons of sauce. Mind you, its very thin sauce. I tried to pour it on my food... I am upset I spent $13 on something I really didnt enjoy. I gave 2 stars, because the $3 side of macaroni and cheese was actually really good. The sweet tea was ok, the $7 dry chicken sandwich was not appealing

Stop whining stop complaining if you think the barbecue is not good here then dont come back in fact maybe you should open up your own barbecue restaurant and make it the way that you like so that other people come to your restaurant and complain and whine moan and groan. Did any of you ask for a refund? If so..you should have included that in your comments. Otherwise, it means the food was better than you admit. The negative comments about the bbq sauce appear to be the usual attempt of complaining without good reason. Me personally, if I must complain, I will be asking for a refund or some other form of compensation and not just posting comments with broken foundations.

With lots of great BBQ places in the area I had never tried Pappas. Of course had heard about it and finally got the chance with some office buddies. Cafeteria style ordering, but the line wasnt that long at noon time and the service was quick. They provide a daily special and the normal options: sandwiches, sausage, beef, chicken and ribs. The side options were typical as well from what I could tell. I had chopped beef sandwhich with a green salad. The other orders at my table were chicken and one guy had ribs. They were big! Everyone gave it a big thumbs up.

Food: inconsistent. Sometimes its moist and juicy. Most of the time its dry and chewy. As if its leftovers from yesterday. Service: consistent. Consistent in that its terrible. Ive given this place a chance. Ive been here at least once every month for the past two years and never have I had passable service. The staff just chit chat behind the counter until you say something first. Decor: typical BBQ. Very clean. Price: not cheap. Then again its BBQ so youre paying at least $10+ for a meal. Conclusion: if there was another BBQ joint closer Id go there.

An old establishment with a lot of character and nostalgic feel to it however, the expectation of "A Down home" cooking reminiscent of high quality savory food at a reasonable if not exceptional cost in favor of the customer are quickly obliterated as "SHOCK" of the meal takes over at the register and "AWE" (as in, I cant believe how saddened I feel; the experience Im having is a STARK disappointment to my expectation of a place that has such great potential of being that hidden treasure or "Best Kept Secret" for the old city being renovated !)

My meal at both the seafood and barbecue restaurants was good. My friends meals were awful. The salad had onions though she requested no onions. Then, the waiter brought it back with onions again and stated that onions were in the mix. Interesting since my salad didnt have any onions by request. Then the barbecue place fixed buffalo wings with barbecue sauce rather than regular barbecue wings. By they were received them, her sides were all gone. So sad!!! Good news - the barbecue restaurant manager was apologetic and refunded her money.

Poor poor poor customer service..... been eating here for about 6 years but their customer service is getting worse and worse in the past year. Just left and the guy taking my order could hear and understand my entire order except for the word chicken. Had to pull up and he acted annoyed because he couldnt hear and understand 1 word from an entire order. Im seriously looking for another BBQ spot that has good to great customer service. This one is currently piss poor in my opinion. Sad since they used to be great.
