Well I have eaten here twice before even reading the first review. I read a really long bad and a really long good one. So being in the area I wanted to give them another shot and see if I can spot some of the things in the two reviews. Im a truck driver and I tend to get around. And I may not have the most discerning palate but this is what I think. The service was okay, but the woman behind the counter seemed a little short. The food was okay, if I had to choose between McDonalds and this, they win hands-down. But the food did seem to be missing something from the first two times I went. I had noticed the first two times that they really dont have a selection of drinks that are nonalcoholic. They had Pepsi diet Pepsi and Canada dry. Considering it was out of a can and sitting in a refrigerator you would think they would have other choices. But they had plenty of beer, unfortunately I dont drink and Im not that fond of Pepsi. I saw what one of the reviews meant about the sides didnt really taste homemade. But I did think the beans were doctored up quite well. The potato salad was really missing something though. I had the chopped brisket. It wasnt dry it was moist enough and heavy on the barbecue sauce. The links were tasty although a little salty. The customers there were really nice and quick to start up conversations. But the one reviewer was right they could do with a bit less chairs due to the space being a bit tight. Other than that I think this is a small business with heart and it looks like the kind of place where the service can go up and down the scale on a daily basis. It really does seem like a small family run operation. I say if youre in the area you should go. It is definitely a one time experience that could grow into a lifelong favorite place. But for now I can just say that its good.

Pulled pork and brisket were very mediocre, dry, not much smoke flavor, and doused with a stong sauce to cover it. The moppin sauce technique is used to here to try to restore the moisture the brisket has lost, and it doesnt work. The potato salad tasted like it was right out of a large tub from Sysco food supply or Albertsons. I dont recall if they say it is "homemade" or not, but it sure doent taste like it. The beans tasted like they were also canned, or made "off-site", then "doctored", or "kicked up" on-site, but they were doctored well and tasted good. In fact, I enjoyed the beans more than either meat! Service was slow and not very friendly.I didnt feel like they were glad to see me, but instead got the feeling I was a bother. I usually could care less about the decor of a BBQ place, since its supposed to be about the meat. But here, the decor seems "inconsistent" with a BBQ experience. Its an old service station (small building with cramped seating spaces) given a "50s diner" sort of make-over. Their website shows an open and airy looking space with not to many tables and chairs. Thats not how it was when I was there. Instead, there were way TOO many chairs and tables, TWICE what you see in their website pic.

Tried to go here during the recent Lamar St Festival, it was small and popular but we found a table outside. Placed our order at the counter, ordered 2 entrees and 3 sides to share for the 2 of us. Behind the register and in the kitchen it was obvious that they had no idea what they were doing. Fairly quickly someone came out with 2 of the sides (fries and fried corn, they were ok). Half hour later, after everyone around us was served, including people who came after us, I checked on our order. They assured me it was coming up next, although the employees had no idea what I was talking about. After all, we got our fries and corn. 15 minutes after that, and after checking on the order again, and after getting another blank stare, I demanded a refund and we left. The refund was the easiest part, no problems at all with that. Maybe they were overwhelmed by the crowd, if you go at a less popular time maybe they know what theyre doing. The food might be good but I wouldnt know, I never got mine. Wont be going back.

We stayed at the new Omni hotel this past weekend taking our daughter to the volleyball competition. When we walked out the front door we asked one of the employees (fabian I remember to be his name) about a good place to get some great real texas barbecue. He immediately told me he knew the perfect place. He told us to take a short taxi ride down Lamar street and we would see it on the left. When we walked in the employees looked a little questionable but after a few words they had us laughing with great jokes. Then when they brought our food to the table we were blown away. The ribs were so tender and we could taste the smoke flavor throughout every bight. Also, the chiro beans with meat in them put the icing on the cake. Perfect amount of seasoning with a lot of texas spice. We were very impressed. We told them that anytime we come to Dallas we would be visiting them. We made it back to the hotel and thanked the man that suggested this barbecue restaurant to us! Off the bone was off the chains.

I was looking for a great barbecue spot doing the 4th of July. But this was not the place to spend it at. The barbecue ribs and chicken was very cold and the sides, which were seven dollars for two, were overprice and did not taste homemade at all. The potato salad had egg shells in it and the bake beans were not tasty. To top it all off, the workers were not friendly at all and seem to act like they did not know what they were doing. There is little space to even move around in there and if a fire broke out, it will be chaotic. The drink selection is slim to none, and like the other comments, there were only can sodas of Pepsi, Ginger Ale, and Diet Pepsi. I was truly disappointed in spending $50 there for 3 people to eat and will not go back due to the poor quality of everything. If I had a choice of eating there or eating my own barbecue, I would choose my own.

The food was not good like the reviews and people were saying, and the service was HORRIBLE. and because of that I will not recommend this place to anyone not even my worst enemy. They were rude and unprofessional how they treat paying customers. And they give small portions of food. They will never get my services again..... No it was the one on Lamar. I asked one of your employees to change the sweet tea at least 3 times. When I did not get any service I walked to the counter and ask could they refill the bucket of tea. the employee ask one of the managers and he STATED that they do not need anymore tea. And I told him that who are you to say what I need Im a paying customer. After that me and my wife walked out.... So you need to check your employees and tell them to treat PAYING CUSTOMERS with respect.
