This was my husband and my first experience here, and we came here on a Saturday night 7:00 pm. Heres how we see it: Their prices are not outrageous but they ARE on the higher end of the norm. With that you should expect something special for what you are paying. While the restaurant is very pretty, cozy, and warm, the room is far too crowded with too many tables crammed in there! So much so that people are almost touching one another, and the staff cannot even get by as they brush by your table to deliver food to others. Absolutely NO feeling of privacy if one wants to enjoy a Saturday evening with a special someone. Also the noise level was unbearable! Thats a result of far too many tables and people. There were waitstaff running all around and weaving between tables - chaotic! Still for that price range, this is not acceptable. The service was quite slow, and we had 4 different people attend to us. A good place will have one waiter attending to you, personally. Instead you felt like no one really cared because they are just too busy, and whoever could deliver your food did it (someone from the kitchen, our first waiter, then another young guy, oh and lets not forget the water re-filler). No personal service and no one to check up on you. The food quality was ok. The pommes frites were overcooked almost to being bitter. My husbands tuna was good - cant really mess that one up. My onion soup was too salty, and it did not consist of gruyere cheese (the traditional cheese for topping); it was more like the less-tasty emmentaler. My pasta was just ok; it lacked depth of flavor. The tart sampler plate was very disappointing. The apricot/almond tart had a soft crust (not crispy, buttery). Filling was just ok. The apple tart was practically raw and very uninspired, and the chocolate tart was just awful - stale and not a good flavor at all. Oh, and for getting wine by the glass, they give you a small glass and not a very generous serving of wine when you buy by the glass, which isnt cheap. Ive had a more generous serving in other restaurants for the same price. Overall, I was looking forward to this place, but I would recommend its competitor, Cadot, down the street much more. Better food, service, ambience, etc.... Unfortunately, Lavendou feels more like its trying to profit by cramming tables but lacks the sophistication and service of a fine, dining place that makes you feel special and attended to. I dont believe well be going back.

This place is noisy, crowded, has terrible food and horrible service. Easily the worst meal I have had in Dallas. I went based off my fathers recommendation with my girlfriend. She is a fairly picky eater since she has had gastric sleave surgery so it took a bit before we ordered. Our waited was a tubby bald headed older guy, he was the worst waiter I have encountered in DFW. When we were ready to order it took over ten minutes to find him, I eventually had to ask another waiter to go get him. We ordered from the Prix Fixe menu. The escargot arrived and was tough and very chewy not very tasty, my gfs dish was not edible which was replaced with an okay caesar salad. Our mains came out, I had order Salmon which had been cooked well done as in like a brick it was so dry. I called the waiter over and immediately told him this was unacceptable, and requested this dish be properly prepared. He said "oh you wanted it rare (I clarified medium rare which is how any professional kitchen cooks Salmon), our patrons like it cooked that way." I was shocked, who wants their fish cooked so well done that theres no moisture left in it?? My girlfriend had ordered Coq au Vin, the chicken was dry and chewy...how is that even possible; coq au vin is braised in liquid if prepared correctly which should be virtually impossible to cause dry chicken. I believe they baked the hell out of the chicken just like the salmon and then sauced it thinking no one would notice that they dont know how to cook food. The desserts were decent, by this point we were ready to get out of here as quickly as possible and my date was not feeling well. The waiter took over 20 minutes to bring the bill after I had requested it. After finally getting the check he made a rude comment about how little my girlfriend ate, before standing over me as I gave him a very small tip, I should have left him nothing. And had my gf been feeling better I would have sent her outside, asked for a manager and verbally burned that prick from stem to stern for his horrendous service and offensive commentary of my girlfriend. This is a place that should be avoided at all costs unless you like bland, overcooked food from rude and incompetent waiters.

Let me begin by saying I was 15min late. So maybe that set the mood for the whole event on a sour note...also forgot to mention the 3 babies included with the 2 adults. I guess bc I know theyre there and coming along that its given and I dont always remember to mention it. We are seated right away. Its not too busy and the waiter had a pretentious attitude. He said something to the effect of the food we had ready 15min is already ready so well bring it out now. Like alright I obviously know I was late, I have 2 small kids get over it. For $18 i guess I truly expected more. Plus other peoples photos of their high tea seemed full. No. Those ppl ordered 2 orders. I ordered 1 which contained: 1 of each-cucumber sandwich, ham salad sandwich& chicken salad samdwich. The flavors werent obvious except the cucumber so Im just guessing. 2nd tier has 2 small scones & 1 triangle of banana? Bread w/cream cheese filling, top tier had 1 quarter size fruit tart, 1 small eclair & 1 cream puff. Putting all the sandwiches together wasnt even a complete sandwich just so you can imagine the quantity. My 2 year old son was hungry also so the food I was supposed split with my friend went to my son and she ordered a $16 chicken salad (she ended up not liking the chicken saying it was hard and chewy). The absolute ONLY nice thing was the tea which was made in house and so perfectly delicious. Plus I asked the waiter for a to go cup for my tea bc we were ready to go and I wanted to take my tea. He said they dont have those. OK. Apparently they must not do take out orders like normal places. I mean they are in a strip mall with a condom store and smoke shop. Its not like we went to a super fancy, stand alone, dress code necessary place. If we had I wouldnt have asked for a go cup. Thanks for being rude, unwelcoming, & for overall making us feel uncomfortable. Would not return and its sad bc the tea was amazing.

Went here for Valentines day dinner with my girlfriend. It was way over priced. $70 per person. The food was good, but not good enough to warrant the price gouging they had for Valentines day. When we arrived we were seated, then had to wait for about 15 minutes before having our drink order taken. During dinner we had 4 different waiters, and everything was very rushed. I felt as if the courses came out within minutes after finishing one course. I made a mistake on the tip and did not notice it. The waiter did not wait until we left to collect the check. He noticed the tip was not the 20% tip and came to me right as I was leaving and asked me if his service was not good because the tip was small.I have never had a waiter ask for a larger tip in my life. I would have noticed the mistake and returned with cash to correct the mistake the next day. Now, I will never return to this restaurant again.
