I went to this restaurant for a wine dinner and did not have any expectations. Upon leaving, I was thoroughly impressed! The ambience was quaint and lovely, the service staff was completely competent (which is a rarity in Denver right now), and the food was perfectly prepared. What I respected was that the dishes had such nice balance, with sometimes surprising ingredient combinations, without being "trendy" in their choices and forcing flavors/textures that just dont work together. Whats more, the sauces were impeccable. A good sauce seems to be more illusive in our dining experiences than I care for but this was not the case here. I was really so pleased by my experience and would recommend it to anyone who likes classic & classy dining.

My boyfriend and I dined here on Valentines Day when they had a prix fixe menu. Everything about the experience was absolutely wonderful. The food was sensational. It was so good that we have not been able to stop thinking or talking about it since we left. Our two favorite parts of the meal were the lobster tortellini and the chocolate-hazelnut cupcake. OMG. Seriously amazing. We also elected to partake in the pre-selected wine pairings that accompanied 5 of the meal courses. Each wine was delicious and perfectly paired. It is a small restaurant, which we liked because you a have full view of the staff and its fun to watch them interact and execute the meal. I cant say enough about this place, we will be back for sure.

A limited but ultimately sufficient menu in terms of options. The food and service were exceptional. As so many restaurants in Denver have gone more and more casual, Bistro Barbes stands out for still using white tablecloths. The space is small and minimally decorated. And that is perfectly fine because they actually have sound baffling! This means the ambience is less intrusive, conversation is easy even for hushed romantic conversation or older people. So few places in Denver (looking at you especially every industrial modern decorated brewery) do anything about sound at all even though it is such a simple, easy, cheap fix. Addressing the sound does 100x more for me as a customer than fancy paintings or lighting or whatever.

The restaurant was cozy and the atmosphere was nice. The service was very mixed. Our original waiter forgot about us when we asked him for a minute to decide on drinks. After 15 minutes, we stopped another waitress who took our order; she was great. The first one later helped us, but was a bit passive aggressive going forward. My girlfriend had the octopus, which was a very good dish. I ordered the quail, but was pretty disappointed when they brought me what looked like a small frog and was far from filling. For the price ($130 for 3 people), this place wasnt the best value.

This place has a way to resonate with comfort and charm like no other place with the city. The food is phenomenal. The wine list inspires the thoughts of home. And the service above what I have experienced at Michelin star restaurants. I look forward to visiting every chance I come to Denver.

Super secluded, intimate, high end but not pretentious. Immaculate service and a staff that clearly takes pride in providing guests with a superb dining experience. Menu rotates. They improvised a Brandy Alexander for my wife and it was pretty incredible.

Payed too much to dine here with the amount of substitutes that had to be made to our dishes after ordering off their menu
