We showed up right at opening at 3pm. We were only 5 minutes early, so we decided to wait, our first mistake. The bartender unlocks the door while rolling his eyes and sighing, he says; "Not even open..." Then stands in the doorway and informs us that they are only serving appetizers for lunch today. We say, thats ok. Bartender guy doesnt respond, just walks inside. We grab our menus and silverware ourselves. I ask Bartender his opinion on Stoli blueberry with Club Soda or 7up? Second mistake. His response, "I dont like blueberry or mixed drinks." Then He tells us we better "Order now because our cook is going out on an errand." that couldnt have been done before opening? We order the stuffed Portabello cap and the Hummus plate. The stuffed cap was the best appetizer Ive ever had and the Hummus plate was very impressive. I decided a glass of red wine would compliment it all but Bartender is rolling silverware. So I wait, the appearance of food has cheered me up. He gets up to serve his regular a fresh beer and then takes my order. A few minutes later (Bartender hasnt even picked up a glass) two waitresses come in carrying V Day decorations and start putting them up, bumping into our table and me (it took them about 25-30 minutes). Couldnt this have been done while the bar was closed? They even asked us to move for them. When Bartender finally brings the wine He says, "We had to press the grapes." The food was beautiful and delicious. The staff ruined it all. My message to them: I realize you have a tough job. You deal with drunks, creeps, weirdos, lonely saps and sometimes a combination. I work nights in the Emergency Room of a hospital. Multiply your scene by ten, and youve got MY job. Please put your pretentious attitude in a small, dark and uncomfortable place.

This was a cool place two blocks from my house. It turns out the bartender doesnt know how to make a double Makers on the rocks or an Old Fashion with Makers. We thought the ice was tainted, but our wives drinks were fine. When we tried to explain to the bartender that the two whiskey drinks were terrible, he acted as if I had never had Makers and my buddy had never had an Old Fashion. We didnt bother explaining that he orders Old Fashions everywhere he goes and that I recently visited the Makers distillery and have three bottles of it at my house. The only reason I ordered Makers is because, other than that, their whiskey selection sucks. This guy reminds me of the food service people on California - incompetent and defensive. Despite its proximity to my house, I dont intend to return.

Love love love this local pub. Great in the winter when you want to hunker down for a pint and some great food. Speaking of which - the food here is unbelievable! Their menu is fairly sophisticate especially for a little pub - from mussels to cheese plates, burgers to escargot. Im not much for snails but their pork chop is hands down one the best meals Ive had - and Ive had it there many times. Their food is consistent without fail. The beer list has a great range of local, craft and old standards. Finally the staff is friendly and fun. Totally a great place!

While I like coming here because the food is good, it is a little pricey for what it is. The last several times my friends and I came here for a couple beers before dinner, the service was slow at the bar and on the floor. I know a lot of regulars go there, and sometimes they take priority, but waiting for 20 minutes for someone to even come by and greet you is bad business. Ive been disappointed because of this the last 3 times, so now I am turned off from wanting to come here any more, even though its walking distance from home.

Absolutely wonderful dive. The food is fresh gourmet chef quality and the kitchen is open until midnight! This place reminds me of the guest houses in Germany. Its a very intimate venue. Far from generic. The Cock and Bull is a hidden gem that I will always revisit!

Great spot for drinks or a bite to eat (or both). Good burgers; the Italian Sausage pasta is good, and the service is great. It has that perfect cozy bar feel to it, which can be difficult to find in Dallas.

This is the absolute best "hole in the wall" restaraunt in Lakewood. The food tastes like it comes from a 5 star kitchen and the staff is amazing. I can not say too many good things about this place.

The lightings just right for the end of a long day or for brunch after a long night. Decor hasnt changed in the last 10+ years but the menu can change from week to week. Its a Lakewood staple.
