I was relocated and try to find a reasonable place for Chinese food knowing that I am in Dallas, nt LA or SF or NY City, I keep my expectation low. o I went to this restaurant today for lunch/Dim Sum and here were what I have ordered and, halfly eaten. 1. Chicken feet - The worst chicken feet Ive ever tasted, I only ate two of the five choped pieces, and felt like vomitting afterwards. 2. Steamed pock rid with black-bean sauce - The worst ever of the kind I have tasted in my life. There was only pieces of pork of rubber strength, regardless, no tastes at all. It was certainly made and cook by a rouke who starts to learn how to cook Chinese food. 3. Steam rice roll with beef - Again is the worst i ever ate, the rice rool was tough and the ground beef had a deep-black color, unlike all the other freshly steamed that look a little pink, and of course, no taste, it was not "Chinese" food. 4. A bowl of rice soup (congee) supposedly with pork and preserved duck egg。 There was no pork meat, only low-rated ground pork, and the preserved duck egg was unchewable while it should have been soft and smoothy. And my total bill was $19.1 excluding tips; it is on the very hign-dned side as comparing with LA, SF, or NY City where Chinese food are really Chinese foods. The service is mediocore and passive, but I still left them 15% tip (I in general give out 20%) that was much more than deserved. Just dont know why so many of you gave them 4 or even 5 stars, this place should only deserve some minus-star points but I give it a "one start" rating becasue this is the lowest I could find from the scale if I want to write a review. By the way, I never write food reviews unless the worst comes up.

Not so often do I ever get dim sum cravings but today was one of them. My usual spot is Kirin Court which has been for many years. I did some research and found out about Hong Kong Royal which is close to my work area. I decided to try it since most of the reviews on here were very good. We arrived at the restaurant to the usual decor for chinese restaurants that cater to weddings and dim sum. So thats no big deal but then we started ordering our dim sum. Everything on the menu looked fine to me but then one by one we started to receive our food. Lets just say I might of came on the wrong day or something because everything looked not fresh and microwaved. To confirm, I saw the man microwave our bbq pork which to me just wasnt the best start to our meal. I usually order the same things I do for dim sum like pork dumplings, shrimp dumplings, spare ribs, and etc. Everything I ate seem like they just microwaved a bunch of leftovers. I dont think I will be coming back here anytime soon. Ive had dim sum in all parts of the world and I would have to say this was one of the worse ones. If you really want the best of the best in Dallas...I would suggest going to Kirin Court. They serve better dim sum everyday of the week.

Tien Hong in Austin closed recently, so weve been trying to get our dim sum fix in dallas. Maxims, Kirin Court, Arc-en-ciel - none are as good as Hong Kong Royal. Dumplings we ate - steamed shrimp, shrimp pot stickers, steamed shrimp/green onion, pan fried shrimp/green onion, pork shu mai. Also had BBQ pork pie, baked pork bun, steamed pork bun, curried chicken pie, egg rolls. All were great. The pork pot stickers were not as good as some weve had in Dallas, but the other dishes were much better than you can get anywhere in the area. When were not in San Fran eating at Ton Kiang, we can get Hong Kong Royal to tide us over. Service is great too! Dishes are between $3 and $5 for most stuff. The four of us had tea, cokes and all the dim sum we could handle for $45.

First off disregard the review below where that person got "real authentic chinese food" from KANSAS CITY. Thats like saying the best sushi youve ever had was in Idaho. This place wont be in the Michelin guidebook but it does not disappoint either. The orange beef is flavorful and wasnt overly breaded like most places (looking at you First Chinese BBQ). The Hu Tieu with beef was just as great. The serivce was a but slow but when its only a husband and wife team manning the restaurant so I cant fault them too much. Very good food, reasonable prices and attentive service will have my family and I coming back again and again.

This had to be the worst authentic Chinese Dim Sum restaurant. We just moved from Kansas City where we frequented an authentic Hong Kong style Chinese restaurant where the food was always fresh and hot....there would be lines waiting to get in. Not the Hong Kong Royal...it was dirty, smelled like fried food and the staff were not friendly at all. Then to top it off it was absolutely the most over priced restaurant....I have spent less at 5 star restaurants! I will never come to this place again and will never recommend it. Horrible food and service.

Service was good but could be better - husband and wife trying to cook and serve and be hostess. Serving sizes were very large but quality was lacking for chicken dishes. Pot stickers were excellent and Crab Rangoon as well. Garlic sauce chicken was delish but sweet and sour chicken was not good, chicken was over fried. Will not likely return. Entrees are $10 each and 2 egg rolls were $2.70, 3 pot stickers were $3.50 - decent prices for serving sizes but wish the quality was better - maybe beef or pork is the better choice.

Good DimSum menu. Not as many options as Kirin Court, or Maxims. I ordered their BBQ Pork Pie, Curry Chicken Pie, Stuff Bean Curd Skin, Pork Dumpling, BBQ Pork Fun Roll, Baked BBQ Pork Bun. The ambiance wasnt the best Ive experienced. Place was empty but many people were coming and collecting orders to go. Service was quick. Staff were polite and hospitable. Didnt enjoy the taste as much as Maxims or Kirin Court, but the food was quite good none-the-less. Easy to find a place to Park.

I have been searching for a dim sum place since I moved to the area almost 3 years ago. This whole time this place was right down the road from work. I had a co-worker bring me here for lunch and that was when I discovered they had dim sum. I hit them up for lunch at least once every week now. Even if you dont like dim sum, the lunch menu is delicious and very affordable. I have all my co-workers addicted to this place now as well. Love the fried taro pies!

Hong Kong Royal is simply the best Chinese food in Dallas Fort Worth. We love it because it is clean and nice while have a very friendly staff which can all be fairly rare in the Chinese food world. Tack on to that the authentic food and the awesome dumplings, and you have a definite winner. As referenced in another review you cant miss the Shrimp and Spinach dumplings, they are great and authentic Hong Kong style Cantonese fare. Very very good.
