I hate to do this but I must sadly trash this restaurant! It has so much potential :( What just really confuses me is how a restaurant that is so all about gluten free could have a team of workers who have no idea what food allergies are. I thought that was the point but apparently this restaurant is all about the fad. Instead of actually being a part of the change, they have become part of the problem. If the staff, management, and/or owners of this restaurant truly cared about its customers they would know about 20% of people who are Celiac are also allergic to corn, other grains, or dairy! My partner has been poisoned by cross contamination several times after eating here. After the last episode, we brought the issues up to the server and she could have cared less. She was rude and suggested that we never come back. SHE even REFUSED to PROVIDE me WITH A RECEIPT for PAYMENT of OUR MEAL. I had to go in the next day and get the manager to print me a receipt! When we brought the issues up to the management and owners they suggested that we smelled like pot and asked us to leave...LOL... Nether of us smoke pot and this is Austin! I was also sad to learn that an LGBT couple who are friends of ours were discriminated against by two of the servers waiting tables here just last Sunday! I CAN NO LONGER RECOMMEND THIS PLACE TO ANYONE! I think that the owners and management feel that they are the only game in town and that families who suffer with Celiacs have no choice but to put up with bad food and discrimination. Well, not my family and friends! We are fortunate to live in Austin where with just a little research one can find many other places to eat and not just Gluten free foods but great tasting Gluten free foods. Most of these other locations have a staff that is knowledgeable, friendly and does not discriminate against others who may be of another race, religion, and or sexual orientation. Sadly it hurts me to say this but RIP WILD WOOD BAKEHOUSE.

Horrible service, very disorganized. A shame since the food is great, breads and pastries are good. My family took me there to try their pastries because my birthday was close and I am gluten free. We just waited there to be seated for a while. The guy at the front was so bored and almost annoyed to have people that wanted to eat there. We finally sat outside and ate. The food was excellent, love all the gluten free pastries and breads, even took some home. We decided to go ahead and order a pumpkin cake for 15 people. The pumpkin cake was so good that day, we figure the sheet cake was going to be the same. Well, what a surprise when we got a call from them, they had some trouble and they could not complete the order on time but they would have it ready and hour and a half later that same day. When I went to pick it up the same guy at the front desk did not even apologize for the late delivery, did not even open the box so I could see the cake. So rude, handed me a pen and paper to sign the receipt and walked away. A LITTLE TIP , at least say "Thank you for ordering with us, hope you enjoy, let us know if you like it" awful costumer service!! The decorations were nonexistent, it said happy birthday and it looked like it was written by a 6 year old. I had to redecorate it at home and make it decent. Figure it was OK because after all the cake was good, well it tasted horrible. It was so moist it felt they took it earlier out of the oven and was not completely cook. We tried to contacted them to complain but guess what, they never answer their phone and the voice message is full, we assume tons of people leaving their complaints! So, if you can pass horrible service go ahead and eat there, their food is great! But do not order cakes you will be disappointed and end up with your cake in the trash like we did :(

User profile picture thumbnail Kathryn 5 ratingJune 30, 2013 We went there last night and Ive got to say everything was AMAZING. Theyre a little pricey (but what GF food isnt?). We chose them because my husbands parents were in town, and between them and us we had a lot of dietary restrictions to worry about and they seemed like they would have something for everyone. (Im vegetarian with various food allergies, my son is GFCF, and his mom is Celiac). As we had hoped, everyone was easily able to find something they liked: My husband ordered the steak (which he said was the best hes had in years), his parents both ordered the BLT (and both said they really liked the bread - which is a big deal since his mom generally hates GF bread), I ordered the mushroom and spinach enchilada plate, and my son had the chicken strips and fruit. We also tried the dairy-free pumpkin cupcake, the GF strawberry shortcake, and one other CF and chocolate desert. My husband thought he wouldnt like the shortcake bc it was GF but it was downright delicious. My only complaint was that their childrens menu had an awful lot of dairy in it - if they added some more dairy free options to it, wed be in heaven with this restaurant.

We ordered 4 dozen cupcakes at $38 a dozen for our gender reveal party. They were vegan cupcakes, the chocolate flavor they have. I would have been satisfied with the not so tasty, not so chocolatey cupcakes if only they were not so sloppily made. Since it was for a gender reveal party they were filled with blue icing, which revealed the gender and was a complete surprise to everyone except for the baker. Unfortunately, while we were plating the cupcakes we saw a string of blue icing sticking out of the side of one of them, completely ruining the surprise. It was extremely disappointing to pay over $150 for such a let down. For that price, I would have expected they would have checked to be sure the surprise was concealed. To make matters worse, when I let management know about the issue they promised me they would be calling back the next day after they spoke to the owner. They never called.

We were given a gift certificate to this place. I hate to say the service was horrible. They tried to give my wife a sandwich without avocado. When we asked why it was missing after going back into the kitchen to check the guy said oh we ran out, do you want something else to substitute for the avocado? The tomato was the butt end of a roma so it kept sliding out of the sandwich. We took a loaf of bread to cash in the certificate and then saw that it was molding on one side. With the exception of the ding dongs the whole visit was a disaster. This was the end of August the AC was out of order and it was hot in there. We didnt say anything because We thought they were conserving energy had they said that they would have at least one star. Will never return and have told as many persons as I can.

If you have celiac disease, great! If you have celiac disease and other food allergies.....not so good. I have a shellfish allergy. While ordering, the kitchen staff were helpful and explained that they had a single communal fryer (if I eat anything out of that fryer, I will have problems). Thats fine, I adjusted my order to something else......and when my food showed up, it came with sweet potato chips fresh out of the communal fryer. They did not make the connection between "cannot eat out of the fryer" with "where did these chips come from?" The staff did take the plate back and fix it, but attention to little details matters when dining out with an allergy. Otherwise, the burger was very average, nothing bad but nothing special either. Baked goods were decent.
