Lick Ice Cream is decent--maybe above average--in terms of consistency and general ice creamness, but in terms of flavors, its the best Ive come across. Theyll have some fairly-standard good flavors, such as Mexican Chocolate, but also plenty of unique, weird-but-good flavors, featuring combinations such as goat cheese, thyme, and honey, or cilantro and lime. Some of them sound gross, but theyre all actually delicious (unless you have the cilantro-tastes-like-soap gene, in which case all but that one are delicious). The vegan selection is small, but notable for the fact that they have a vegan selection, and doubly-so for still including weird awesome flavors. Coconut and avocado curd? Hell yes! In addition to the standard normal and standard weird flavors, they have seasonal flavors that pop up throughout the year, so its essential that you visit often. Seems theres a sweet potato flavor right now that I have yet to try. The people there are super nice, even when you try half a dozen flavors before choosing one, or two, or three (because, really, who sticks to just one when you have choices like these?) Also, you can quickly earn a free cone by using your punch card, unless youre like me and forget it at home every time, resulting in a dozen half-filled punch cards sitting in a drawer. The ingredients are locally sourced (at least to a reasonable extent), so thats nice. The only thing that isnt perfect about Lick is that parking is limited, but youll find a spot, and any frustration from that task will quickly be forgotten from the shock of sampling beet and mint ice cream and discover beets can actually taste good.

So, we are from Portland, land of Salt n Straw, and I would say that Lick is on par or possibly even better! The ice cream is light and the texture awesome. We went three times while in town and I ordered Brown Butter, Cilantro Lime and Vegan Tart Toasted Coconut every time. Im not even a big ice cream person but these flavors are so freaking awesome. The flavors are delicate and done so well! My husband was obsessed with the Grapefruit with Champagne Marshmallow, Texas Sheet Cake, and Lemon/Gin. Wish we could bring Lick back with us! The only issues I will state are the that serving/scoop sizes are quite small for the price, the waffle cones are okay but not the best Ive ever had, and this particular location needs better seating options. Going with friends to have ice cream and a chat is tough when there are only a couple benches/stools and no tables. Even a bar against the inside window would be helpful! Thanks, Lick! Love you! Ill be dreaming of the Brown Butter Ice Cream!

Review is for the San Antonio location @ Pearl. The Pearl is a really fun area for a night out though the Lick is just a simple shop with a couple of table and about a dozen flavors. The flavors are all so unique and I appreciate that the ingredients all come from local growers. The ice cream itself is very rich and has more of a homemade texture rather than perfectly creamy. Prices are reasonable. My favorites were: - Texas Sheet Cake - Goat Cheese, Thyme, and Honey - Caramel Salt Lick Others that were interesting: - Cilantro Lime - Too Hot Chocolate (think spicy) - Roasted Beets and Fresh Mint - Dark Chocolate w Olive Oil and Sea Salt For an interesting tasting experience, definitely try ice cream from Lick.

Weve been going to Lick since its early days. The ice cream is the best in town- creative flavors, small-batch and fresh ingredients that are locally-sourced. While the latter two are important, its the unique flavors that keep us coming back. Fresh mint with chocolate chunks; goat cheese, thyme & honey; and pecans & cream tickle your taste buds with flavor combinations youve never tried before (who serves up mint chip with FRESH honey?) and still reinforces nostalgia for the old-fashioned ice cream shop? Finally, its a pleasure to know that the owners a two great guys who want to supply us with fabulous ice cream and be a strong part of our community!

Always fresh grass fed and amazing mixture of savory and sweet flavors. I love the Goat cheese, honey, and Rosemary. A standard on the menu and fabulous flavor. If you are looking to avoid the sugar shock you get from the nasty soft server. Give this place a try. It is in the back little mini mall so you cant see if from the street until you driven by. Parking is shared by multiple businesses and you are likely to have to wait a bit as everyone tries every flavor. They do take GO LOCAL cards and have frequent buyer punch cards. Payments are done via SQUARE on ipads so nice check out too.

Great ice cream with lots of unique flavors! Usually has a decent-length line, but I went there at 7:00 on Monday, 11/09/15, and there was virtually no line! The thyme, goat cheese & honey flavor is really good, and right now they have a hazel pumpkin pie flavor that tastes amazing! They also have benches right outside so you can enjoy the nice weather while youre eating. Summary: Lots of unique flavors which change with the seasons, will probably be waiting in a line during the spring and summer, really good if you want something different than your typical fudgesicle or bluebells.

Amys is superior. Hagen Dazs is better. Im just never especially impressed with the textures or flavor profiles at this place. The line is often ridiculous for a place thats only sort of decent. I appreciate their focus on local and unique flavors, but the ice cream just doesnt wow me. Ive given it multiple shots. Id rather go get dessert at a restaurant or bar, go grab some ice cream at the grocery store and make a fancy thing at home, or go to another local spot like Amys.

Long lines are compensated for by an interesting and fun selection of flavors. I like trying stuff I otherwise might not find elsewhere, so I recommend the roasted beets and mint or the lavender and lemon. The wait isnt terribly long but be prepared for it. The handmade waffle cones are also a great add on. My favorite thing other than the flavor selection is the consistency of the ice cream which is fluffier than any other ice cream Ive ever had.

Some of the creamiest and most creative delights in Austin can be found at locally owned Lick Honest Ice Creams. With a few standard cant miss regular flavors like milk chocolate to more adventurous rotating seasonal flavors, you cant go wrong with any selection you make. Indoor seating is limited, garage parking nearby. Located near Alamo Drafthouse, Caffe Medici and the Highball. Great little spot to cool down in the Austin heat.

Lick uses great, quality ingredients, and has some really inventive and successful flavor combinations. But the actual underlying ice cream, the base, while alright, isnt great. Theyre totally worth a stop at least one or twice to try them out and see what you think. Its by no means bad ice cream, but theres a couple places in town that make much better ice cream--though Lick does have them beat with their flavor combinations.

Tasty ice cream. Vegan friendly and they have rare flavors like "Fromage & Fig", "Carrots & Tarragon" or "Roasted Beets & Fresh Mint". They also have more traditional flavors, e.g. Milk chocolate, or salt caramel (great). Loved the "Tart Toasted Coconut". It has little pieces of coconut. Nice atmosphere. Theres not a lot of seating space, but its okay. You can also hang outside if you dont mind the heat in the summer.
