Been a loyal customer here, going about 4-5 times a year especially on special occasions. I remember when this place first opened and I was so glad to finally have a Japanese hibachi style restaurant, with a grill and performance to make our food. It really makes me upset what happened, and I wish the managers even cared in the slightest. I dined in, and ordered the lunch special bento box with Teriyaki chicken and substitute fried rice (You have to request and pay an up-charge on most meals for fried rice). My meal finally came out, and it was just Teriyaki chicken and WHITE rice. I know I ordered specifically correctly because if you dont say the lunch special you pay more for a Dinner sized box, and I know I ordered fried rice because the waitress repeated it. The waitress dropped the food on my table and left immediately without saying anything, and I had to tell this other worker cleaning the table beside me the order was rice was supposed to be fried rice, and he acknowledged me but said nothing. Then I realized I didnt even get the Bento Box, so I had to get up and tell the waitress that my order was wrong, and she started to ARGUE with me about how I ordered wrong. I told her I carefully requested the Lunch Special and she continued to argue with me over it. So she walked over to the register to talk to her co-worker and began to POINT and yell across the room about how she believed I ordered wrong. Ive worked in the food industry and I understand the frustration but that is absolutely absurd how this waitress handled this. She went to another co worker and yelled and threw a fit about this, and then I felt unwelcome and had to request to get the order to go. In the end, Im disturbed at how bad customer service could possibly get, and Im never dining at this restaurant ever again.

Asukas has changed ownership recently, and it shows. Poorly, Im afraid. This used to be one of my favorite restaurants in Spring Hill. Really good sushi, and a decent selection of actual Japanese food, when youre not ordering from the hibachi. I should say, the hibachi is pretty good. Not the best or most entertaining Ive sat through, but still very tasty. Hibachi aside, the Sushi is really good. And they have a really good lunch special. That at least, hasnt changed. The special sushi rolls though, are much more hit and miss. Ive had some really good ones, and really dull ones. The biggest change is the actual entrees (and maybe the hibachi. I havent eaten it since the deterioration in food quality). My girlfriend, being as adventurous as she is, always orders the Chicken Teriyaki. The thing is, this staple dish of stereotypical asian cuisine has been completely different the last 3 times weve been there, each time being worse and worse, with less chicken and inferior taste. The last time it was nothing but chicken and a ton of mushrooms. The last time we were there, I ordered a Tonkatsu Don. It couldnt have turned out worse. Ive had the donburi there before, and they used to be delicious! Colorful, with lots of vegetables, and a well cooked pork cutlet and omelette that made the whole thing juicy and tasty. The last time I ate there, it was just a bowl of white rice, with an overcooked pork cutlet on it, and a single, overcoooked egg on it. It was absolutely terrible. I mean, disgusting. I scared our poor waitress to death when I asked to speak to the manager. She said he wasnt there. We havent bothered returning since. The lunch special sushi isnt worth supporting that trash. Go for sushi, or maybe hibachi, or dont go.

Been here plenty of times, both hibachi and non-hibachi. The decor is beyond beautiful, the restaurant is creatively laid out almost like a work of art, and the food is reliably delicious. Id consider it a gem in the rough needing badly to be discovered. The sushi is a very good quality, and probably the best youll find nearby (barring Franklin). The hibachi and bento are about what youd expect from a good restaurant, with only one happy exception. Asuka has the best fried rice I have had in my entire life. This is a bit of an odd thing to focus on, but I took it as the norm until I tried some other places while travelling. Nothing came close. Even when its made on the grill in person, they get just the right amount of sauce, they fry it for just the right time, and it comes out in the perfect mix between soggy and dry. This is what keeps me coming back. Unfortunately, this is not the place to go for Authentic Japanese. They serve the staple dishes of a Japanese restaurant in the US, but their menu could use a little more oomph for the traditional dishes. The service could use some work too. If youre a heavy water/soda drinker like I am, you may find yourself having to flag down a waitress even when business is ordinarily slow. Also, theyre only open for lunch on Friday, Saturday, and Sunday, a poor business decision in my opinion. The hours on Google arent fully accurate, so visit their website for a better idea. Overall, its worth trying out, but if you have a terrible experience then it may not be worth a second try. Get the fried rice, its always amazing.

I ordered over the phone. When I got there, my order was wrong. So I waited for them to correct it. I paid as I was waiting but again my order was wrong. So I waited again. Thinking this time it was right, they charged me again! The manager required me pay the remaining balance after their mistakes. By the time I got home, my order was STILL wrong. I brought the food back and asked for a refund but the manager haggled with me about it for 10 minutes. Will NEVER go again.

The food was good and the hibachi chef was great. The only problem was the, I guess manager. He hovered over our table. It was creepy and odd. The wait lady who took our order totally forgot we told her it was my sons birthday. They put the appetizer order in wrong and forgot or steamed rice. The only reason Im giving this 2 stars is because of the chef. He was amazing.

Asuka is priced just as high as any other hibachi in Nashville. The quality however is lacking. My wife did not like her chicken, and my food was ok. Scallops were great, but shrimp was overcooked. We went on Valentines Day and definitely felt like we were being rushed for the next seating. All in all an OK experience that was priced at a great experience rate.

The food tastes good! But the hostess made us wait for a long time, 30 min+ before even telling us when a table would be ready. The chef just cooked the food, no real show. And fried rice costs extra! Others at our table ordered Sushi and it wasnt available until after our Hibachi meal was cooked and eaten.
