My significant other and I have been South Street fans for many years. Always one of our "go to" places for tasty food, good atmosphere and cocktails on a sunny afternoon. This was not the case on our trip this Saturday, 3/3. My SO ordered a bloody mary and had to wait for a bit while the bartender made the mix. The bloody was not worth the wait. Way too tomatoey, not enough spice and ratio of vodka. SO politely declined the drink and ordered a glass of wine instead. I ordered a side house salad for a starter. One of my big pet peeves is core pieces in a salad. This is the part that I would toss in the trash at home. This salad was completely white and yellow pieces of "lettuce" hidden under mounds of cheese and cucumber. Not a green piece of lettuce in sight. Think the cheese and cucumber was supposed to cover up the nasty lettuce. We both ordered the pulled pork plate which used to be served over a crispy cornbread pancake. They have changed the menu and it is now served over cornbread triangles that were hard as rocks even after sitting under juicy pork. The pork was the best thing on the plates and it was even mediocre. My baked beans were served cold with way too many chunks of scallions in them. The tater tots that were usually the highlight of the meal were undercooked and lacked that creamy inside to crispy outside ratio that weve always loved. What happened to our South Street? Extremely diappointed and will have to change our "go to" lists of Nashville standard restaurants, mainly removing South Street. So sad :(

Ate here with my mother in law pretty late on a Saturday night, maybe 10:30. It was pretty slow in the dining area of the restaurant. Our server greeted us quickly and she was friendly and pleasant, though her shorts seemed a little inappropriate. They were basically very short, cotton boxers. Mother in law ordered the fried shrimp entree with fries and hush puppies and said she enjoyed everything. I had their cheeseburger with the sweet potato casserole. There wasnt anything necessarily special about the burger but it was cooked to the right temperature and was pretty tasty, I nearly finished the whole thing. The sweet potatoes were good too, similar to Ruths Chris style with nuts mixed in. Only frustrating thing was that the mayonnaise for the burger is brought out in little packets and neither one of us could get any of the darn things open! It does get a bit hot in the dining area, especially on a warm night when they keep the doors open, but we knew to expect that. The restaurant could definitely use a little TLC, walls and ceiling are a bit shabby but it doesnt affect the dining aspect. Overall it was a good experience and I look forward to trying some of their more unique menu items in the future.

The service is mediocre and the food is disgusting. I orderd fried green tomatoes and they came out soggy, slimy and the breading was falling off. I also ordered the Rockville Oysters which sounded and looked great but tasted old. I ate most of them hoping each one would get better and added Tabasco to help but it didnt help at all. I eat at local places when I travel and love casual spots and appreciate their good meals. This place is far from a good meal

All meals come with complimentary bread and coleslaw--- both were really good. I ordered the pulled pork plate @ $10.95. The sauce was great and the pork had a good flavor. The cornbread was dry. Our waiter was excellent... Great personality. Also, we were seated right by the fireplace which was nice on a cold evening. If youre looking for a good seafood spot, this place is worth a try!

I liked the seating downstairs with the windows being open. The fresh air coming inside was nice. The staff was friendly and attractive. The food wasnt that good and overpriced. I hated the chips and salsas. The veggie burger was decent but dont get the tater tots. Theyre usually my go to but these were more like mac and cheese bites than tater tots I thought.

THERE WAS A BIG A** RAT IN THERE. And when I told the bartender and server that acted as if it wasnt a big deal. He was just like "yeah I know".. Gross! And I mean the rat was ENORMOUS, as if it eats there often. I was so grossed out I walked out, no not walked RAN out... never will I ever eat there. Im pissed that I even drank some water out of there.

Stopped in for a quick dinner. The seafood is pretty good, fresh and prepared nicely. The BBQ on the other hand was very plain lacked overall flavor and I didnt care for the BBQ sauce. The staff was very friendly and attentive and the prices were fairly reasonable. All in all not a bad place but stick to the seafood.

Loved this place. Its has a two story outdoor balcony for dining which is just a wonderful place to have a meal. The food was delicious (very impressed) with a wide variety of items to choose from. The staff was very courteous and the prices moderate (you get a lot of food too for the money).

The atmosphere was great! We were seated at the tree house table! Our waiter was very knowledgeable and friendly. Th food was ok, it was kind of late on Sunday evening. The ribs were very tasty but overcooked and dry. The shrimp were huge but over battered for our liking.

Great service, southern foods and more. A little breeze helped even though it was 90 outside and we were in open air but shadowed. Problem with an order brought out the head cook and alternatives given by the staff on food, resolved brilliantly.

This place is consistent, we used to live nearby and went there several times in the past. Recently went back when visiting Nashville and took friends here. It was as remembered. Unique space, good service, good food - tasty BBQ, great value.

This is a great place. Ive always enjoyed my visits here. The food is good, the atmosphere is nice, and the service is great. Looks like urban development is not going to be nice to this place. What little parking there was is now gone.

Pretty good food and decent beer selection. The main reason to go here is the awesome happy hour during the work week. Also, the upstairs bar is pretty cool to look it over midtown when they open the windows in the spring and summer.

Neat atmosphere, pretty good food for price... two people -$34.84. We had shrimp and grits and an oyster poboy; both were good but not great.. waitress was very helpful and friendly... everything a dive bar promises! Glad we went.

Was SUPER excited, for this recommended BBQ. Came with high hopes that fell as flat as the meat was dry. Doesnt help that they were out of 2/3 beer selections we asked for. It wasnt "bad", but we wont be going back in anytime soon.

my wife and i wanted to try something new. i will never go back.cold inside building, spent 37.00 for 5 chicken tenders and 7 shrimp. tenders were so small as if they had been cut in half, we were both still hungry when we left.
