Well we went there and was recommended frog legs and the mussels. Both had horrible flavors and the frog legs were just disgusting and i love frog legs. The tomatoes in the frog leg dish were good. When the waiter asked how the frog legs were i said it was not my favorite and he responded, "yea i dont care for the way its prepared here either, i like them fried". Then why recommend them in the first placed? For the entree we had the steak and the roasted chicken. I attempted to cut the steak and it wouldnt cut, so i figured it was the knife. I ordered medium rare, so should be fairly easy to cut if grilled properly. The steak was easy to cut in other sections, so it was definitely cooked unevenly. The chicken had a lot of salt on it, but cooked perfectly. Overall all the vegetables used were really good. As for the hype...i dont see it. I understand this resteraunt is compared to resteraunts in LA, NY, and CHI but thats a disgrace to compare it to them. I have eaten at all those locations at similar resteraunt concepts and live in Chicago, so this place is garbage.

Im disappointed that Ive been in Nashville for two years and yesterday was the first time I dine at Margot. Im usually not a fan of restaurants with a daily changing menu as I do not eat many food products and do not like to be surprised with a menu that has limited items for me to order from (given my dietary restrictions). However, Margot offered all sorts of dishes that would suit everyone including pescetarians and vegetarians. The Tile fish that I had had to be one of the best fish meals Ive ever had. Just really tasty and flavorful. The seating area was also very nice as the restaurant is in a old house that has been converted. The atmosphere is romantic, but also makes you feel at home at the same time. Will definitely be going to Margot more often, I hear they serve great brunch!

Wife and I were really excited to eat here - daily menus and high ratings. Food was just so-so, there was a decided lack of strong favors in all the meals. The cheese appetizer with apple spread was not well seasoned, the apple spread had very little flavor. The salad was fine, but to be fair how hard it is to make a salad? The steak was also good but not special in any way. Overall the food was "ok". The service however was just rotten. Our primary waitress seemed to dislike us the moment we stepped into the place and did not smile once the entire evening. Everything was prompt and the service was on-time, it just felt like she would rather be doing anything than interacting with the table. Not the best first impression for sure.

Service was top notch, thank you Adam. Food was perfect, all 4 courses. Atmosphere was very nice, decor, a lovely building with 2nd floor seating, which we had. Was in NSH for our daughters 26th birthday with 2 friends. We landed here after her 1st choice said its a 90m wait to eat on a Saturday night. We went right to Google, found this spot 10 mins away, and were seated within 15m of our discovery. Margots will never be our 2nd choice again. And while I expected a huge bil, as we had wine (a very nice pinot noir)and Bloody Marys, also a treat, it was a very reasonable tab in the end. Therefore, Margots gets 5 Stars for our wonderful evening there. And I dont normally write reviews, but will make an exception here.

Not impressed. Menu was limited, food bland, and service rude. No s&p on table. Husband asked server for s&p. Server questioned him as to why he needed it. Weird and kinda rude. He reluctantly brought it to the table...and still felt the need to suggest the chef prepared and seasoned the meal as it should have been. Basically, he implied the problem was my husband not the food. Really rude. But here is the issue...he did not complain. He had no problem but felt his dish would be better with a bit more salt and some pepper. The defensive reaction to a pretty basic request crossed the line. We wont go back ever. Food is not impressive or original enough to put up the attitudes

My husband and I came here for our "nice dinner night" on our honeymoon. Couldnt have been happier. In such a cute part of town. It was a Tuesday night and it was perfect. The server was amazing and had recommendations that fit our taste perfectly. The menu changes every day but you can tell the chef puts a lot of love and thought into each dish. The wine list was abundant and my husband enjoyed one of their specialty cocktails! Would totally recommend for a quiet, fresh and fulfilling dinner if looking to get off the busy streets of down town Nashville. We took Lyft from our hotel and it was only a $6 ride. So happy we made it over there!

My wife and I werent impressed, especially at the price point. We had reservations but sat in a covered porch area with exposed electrical wiring and flies circling. The bread and oil was good as well as the corn chowder, but both of our entrees were bland and my steak (ordered medium rare) was very difficult to cut. The service was good but the food just didnt match the final bill. If you sit inside and catch the chef on a better night you may have a better experience, but I believe you can get much better food in the Nashville food scene for your money.

We have been to margots several different occasion over the five years weve lived here and feel it does not live up to its reputation. Weve never had a bad meal, but simply feel that it nothing weve ever had has blown us away. We went here for our five year anniversary this weekend, and everything we ordered was less than desired. My salad was drenched in dressing, my husbands ribeye was not medium, and our cake was very dry. We also had other courses that night, but nothing to write home about. Next time well go to Chadwicks.

We have had dinner at Margots twice in the past 2 years and were disappointed both times. We live in East Nashville and were hoping things have changed but they havent. The food was nothing special (honestly, i could have cooked a more interesting meal in my own kitchen) and were charged about $150.00 per couple. The server was somewhat rude and didnt seem to care. We notified Margot about our experience but never heard a word...oh well. Much better alternatives out there for the price in my opinion.

A wonderful menu, a warm and intimate setting, and one of the most amazing restaurant staffs in Nashville, I simply cannot say enough good about Margots place. This little place is almost enough reason alone to move to 37206! If you have a dear friend or loved one in town, and you are looking for a perfect setting to dawdle over french toast and coffee, or a cheese plate and some amazing strawberry preserves as you talk about life and enjoy one anothers company, try Margot Cafe.

Beautiful space, menu and wine, but it has changed from an amazing Nashville restaurant to a place that is too good for its guests. The last time we went, the manager was polite only for a moment before becoming off-puttingly rude. We were seated and moved, then told by the manager "I dont have time for you". Sadly, we walked out after that comment, missing out on what could have been a wonderful meal. We want to love the place, but it needs to remember its roots.
