All you need to know about fresh food Golden Coast Chinese Restaurant ---------------------------------------------------------------------------- I think this place have one of the best Chinese food in town! After going there several years, I notice that you have to go at the right time. [LUNCH BUFFET: Monday-Friday PRICE OF $7.47 for water and tax included] At 10:45am is when they have fresh foods ready on the buffets. They slow down around 1:00pm to 4:00pm which they dont make fresh foods that comes out that often. If you ask kindly they would make certain dishes fresh only for you! [DINNER BUFFET: Everyday PRICE OF $10:47 for water and tax included] Around 4:00pm is when dinner starts and foods at that time would be fresh since they changed some dishes on the buffets. But around 5:00pm to 6:00pm they have less customers going there, so making fresh food would slow down. After that they would make more foods until they slow down again. I dont know why is everyone mad at them for not having fresh foods. You can always dine in, takeout, and/or get a deliver of fresh foods that they just made in the kichen! Only downside of that is you dont get the all you can eat buffet. If people can be smart about going there at the right time or ordering Chinese food you wont have a problem of food being not FRESH!! Last if anyone like a more traditional Chinese foods buffet, they have dim sum, soymilk, and boba tea check out there weekend lunch buffet! The price is a little higher [$12.36] but it is worth since they have some much more seafood and other dishes! This buffet also slows down around 2:00pm to 4:00pm and the food are limited since they only serve it on weekends.(sadly) Overall a good buffet just people dont get that they can order fresh foods and ask the people there for help.

This is the absolute worst place to eat in the entire country, not just the West End of Nashville. I walked in and could not tell who worked there. I sort of feel bad for the people who work there. How the heck are they able to be there all day and not be physically ill from the food-borne bacteria that is clinging to every single inch of the place. Rude wait staff, they didnt even offer me a menu to order from, so in desperation to have some soup, I walked around the buffet. The steam seemed to indicate that the food was hot and fresh - but my culinary friend - do not be fooled. This food was cooked HOURS ago and was ROOM temperature. I sat down and took one bite, and spit it out on my plate. Even the soup was not even remotely warm. I stood up and walked to the counter and said I am not paying and walked out. Do not eat here - please for all that is sacred. Go anywhere and eat, but do not eat here.

I hesitated to go with a friend and didnt order the buffet because Im pregnant. I ordered the bourbon chicken. It did not look or taste like chicken. We parked in the back so I used the opportunity to look in the kitchen, I saw poor hygiene guy wiping his face with is shirt and another guy cutting up some mysterious meet. I am a Chef and know standards and this place is not meeting the most minimum, once the guy with no teeth saw me looking into the kitchen he blocked so I couldnt see. I truly believe they are not cooking real chicken pork or beef, and I know they are not practicing good hygiene. I got home and threw up everything I could and thank god I didnt eat much. This place needs to be shut down. I plan on calling the health department first thing tomorrow.

Terrible customer service!!! The ice cream bar only had 3 options out of 8. I asked if they had more in the back and was told No More. OK so I thought maybe they ran out and then I saw new ones underneath so I told them and was again told No More. I said but there is a brand new one right there ..again No More. I called another worker out and they also said No More. I then started telling my husband about this and finally one of the workers came out and angrily tore off the lid of the ice cream freezer and started swapping them out. So basically they just did not want to do it even though I was paying for a party of five! I will NEVER eat there again!

Usually lots of Asian-Americans here, especially on the weekend, because they have a lot of better than average seafood dishes and some good Dim Sum on the buffet. The simple-minded who expected Panda Express will be disappointed, as you can see by the comments. Service is minimal, but also unobtrusive - if you stop eating and just sit there, yes they will come get your plate, sorry. Thats how buffets usually work in my experience. I agree food could be hotter, but how someone could criticize the selection is beyond me. Probably they only eat Orange chicken. This place has been here forever, so love it or hate it, they are clearly doing something right.

We ate there on a Saturday in August. The ambiance was lacking, the restaurant looked a little shop worn. Dont let that fool you. They may not have the glossy glitzy amenities of some of the up market places in Green Hills, but the food on Saturday was authentic Chinese, rather than the stuff made for anglo pallets. Delicious blue channel crabs, 1000 year old eggs that were creamy with just the right tang, even duck. From the number of Chinese eating there, it is highly recommended.

So my fiance and I have a love/hate relationship with this place, however I do recommend it. The customer service is lacking, and I had a personal event where unfortunately they did try and exploit the language barrier to charge us dinner fees with thirty minutes left on lunch time. However, we go back because, in our opinion, the food is awesome. If you can put up with kinda taking your own initiative in service, youll enjoy good food.

Bad experience! The food was "okay"- Ive had better, Ive had worse, though I expected a bit better for the price. My big complaints are that I ordered carry out and received the wrong item (mixed up egg drop for wonton soup) and when I asked the woman that took my order if the fried rice had mushrooms, because I dont like mushrooms, she assured me that it did not. My fried rice had mushrooms.

12/25/09 @ 8:30pm - dry rice - dry chicken - gummy beef the food was so bad, i could barely feed it to a pet. for dessert i tried something that is hard to mess up..jello. but i even had to chew the jello in order to swallow it. the only thing edible was the fresh lettuce..because they didnt process it otherwise. i was seriously thinking of not paying. not worth the $10.

Will never go here again. Save your money this place had no food on their buffet, and got upset when you asked for the buffet to be restored with more food. I can go on and on about my first time eating there but it was my last. The price you pay you think it would be great. The food was cold noodles yuck how can you mess up noodles the veggies gross and were half done.
