DO NOT RENT A BOAT FROM THIS MARINA!!! Their boats are not fit to be out on the water. I rented the 30 ft. pontoon boat for some friends for my 30th birthday. I was embarrassed once we stepped foot on the boat. It looked like it hadnt been cleaned in years: dirty and ripped seats, algae covered boat and hoses, broken water slide, and spider webs all over the boat. This wasnt even the worst part. Nothing on the boat worked except for the throttle, including the gas gauge. I was instantly concerned and asked the employee working there how far will a tank of gas get us. He gave us a very vague and unrealistic expectation of how far we could go. We subsequently ran out of gas.. twice! The first time we were on our way to another marina to fill up based on his recommendation and ran out of gas in the middle of a thunderstorm. There were no paddles on board for us to paddle to shore, there was no horn for us to sound to alert nearby boats (this is actually illegal for a watercraft not to have some sort of emergency alert system), no flashing light system to alert passersbys (also illegal to have after sunset) and not enough adult life jackets (we were given 10 adult and two children life jackets even when we expressed that there were no children on board for 12 adults). I called the office for help and the employee told me there was nothing he could do and I would have to figure it out on my own. After sitting in the middle of the lake in a thunderstorm for almost an hour we finally got someone to tow us to a nearby marina to fill up. On the way home we ran out of gas again and had to have the marina some and tow us back. It is unacceptable to rent a boat out where the driver literally has no idea how much gas is in the tank. The tank was black and there was no way to look inside to see how low we were on gas. I felt robbed of my money and it ruined my birthday. Unless you want to rent a dirty boat that does not make it to any of the worthwhile places on Percy Priest I would pay a little extra and rent from Elm Hill or Four Corners Marina.

DO NOT RENT A BOAT FROM THIS MARINA! The pontoon boats are in terrible shape and ours actually reeked of urine. It was disgusting and I was embarrassed for my friends who I invited to go with us. Also, upon pulling away from the marina, I noticed the gas gauge was on empty. I called the maintenance person to ask about it and he said, quite bluntly: "It dont work." This, in addition to the aged and smelly condition of the boats, did not inspire much confidence. The boat hand told me he would be calling at 4:30 to make sure we were in by 5pm. We got turned around on the lake and, of course with no gas gauge, I was concerned about finding our way back and NOT running out of gas. He never called at 4:30, nor did he answer the phone the 3-4 times I called him to get directions back to the marina. We finally found our way back by asking for directions from other boaters. We complained to the owner and told him of the urine smell and poor condition of the boats. He comped us the $24 for gas that we owed. Appreciated, but not much considering the steep price of the rental and the reason I used even that much gas was because they did not return my calls about directions back to the marina. Very disappointing. We dont expect rental boats to be in top shape, but we do expect them to be clean and free of ripped seats and urine smells. Oh and the gas gauge should work. Kind of important safety stuff there. They seemed pretty ambivalent about the whole thing. Its a shame for the owners because theyve spent some money fixing up the marina itself. Now they need to work on their boat maintenance and customer service.

Weve been eating at the boat dock for over thirty years and the last three experiences weve had have been terrible! The food is always great but the service has become sub standard. We just left after an hour and a half of asking for our orders to be brought to us. Waitress forgot our silverware, salt and pepper, refills, and our orders were brought to us incomplete. When I asked the second time for my hashbrowns the waitress went back inside and after 30 mins the cook/manager/whatever she is came out with hot hashbrowns to go along with my cold eggs, cold sausage and biscuit.....and still no silverware. So, I explained to the lady that I have been waiting for the hashbrowns for 30+ mins. I asked her if they could reheat my food or make me me some more fresh. She said yes sir and walked away. 10 mins later the cook/manger/whatever she is came out very rude and unprofessional and declared loudly in front of other patrons that she has NEVER had anyone send food back. And turned around, never apologized for the incovience and quickly retreated back to the kitchen.....and I still didnt have silverware. My experience at Fate Sanders restaurant has left me with a sour taste in my mouth...and I will NOT be returning there until they are staffed and properly trained in basic customer service skills, as well as hospitality.

The reviews about the boats are spot on! DO NOT RENT A BOAT FROM THIS MARINA!! We have rented boats many times throughout the years from many marinas but this was the first time at Fate Sanders. We know that the boats that you rent are usually not going to be in mint condition but the boats at this marina are truly disgusting. The first boat they tried to give us had rips in every single cushion. Were not talking about small rips - there were so many rips I wasnt sure if we could sit on them. When I asked for another boat they said yes and gave us another boat that wasnt as ripped up. At first we were content until we got in and took off. Then the smell hit us - an overwhelming smell of urine. It felt like we were floating on a port-a-potty. Luckily we brought a lot of extra towels and sat on those. We tried to make the best of it - its not like we were going to get our money back. When we anchored for the first time in a cove and got out to swim we noticed that the overwhelming smell of urine was actually not just in the carpet but on the sides of the pontoon as well. We tried the best we could to get in and out without touching the sides. Not an easy thing to do. In short DO NOT RENT FROM THIS MARINA. I have never left a negative review in my life until now. It is truly that bad.

Marina Restaurant. Just renovated. Feels comfortable and a pleasant room with nice windows. However, with all the potential, the service is friendly but incompetent at the basics. Server has no training. The cook is a 17 year old girl with no experience. The eggs were over cooked, bacon charred. Coffee not so good. Wish i had gone to Waffle House where I wouldve spent the same or less. It is understood that this is not a fine dinning facility, but that doesnt mean it has to have not so good food. There is so much potential at this grill. I suggest getting someone who is a little trained in how to serve and make food. Make the menu simple and consistent. Get ingredients that most people like. Make it special and more people will enjoy it and at least come for the food. (Heard they had a great egg salad sandwich)
