I ordered the bento box and it was terrible. The food was bland, spring rolls were complete mush on the inside and the chicken teriyaki was dry. My wife ordered the chicken teriyaki entree because she wanted something easy that would be hard to screw up. Well the chef at Umi found a way to screw it up. The chicken was dry and bland. We had to shred the few chunks that werent completely dehydrated and submerge them in soy & teriyaki sauce. We finally gave up and didnt eat the majority of our food. Im not a food snob; this is actually the first restaurant review Ive ever left. Our experience was so bad I felt compelled to leave this review. Save your money, go to Zushimaki instead. The service might not be the best but at least the food is excellent.

Great find in the Berry Farms area! I recently moved to the area and was in search for a great sushi restaurant. I was very lucky to find Umi. Upon entry into the restaurant, we were promptly greeted by the hostess and seated quickly. We first ordered the "Avocado Bomb" appetizer and all I can say is Wow! The avocado was at a perfect stage of ripeness and the crab/tuna inside was excellent. We next ordered a couple different rolls all of which were great. Have returned a few times since, with each visit having a similar wonderful experience. The staff is very friendly and very prompt in bringing food and drink. 10/10

Wow! This little place is the best kept secret for Japanese in the area. VERY clean place. The servers are friendly, I never considered a Japanese woman with Southern sass before & its extremely entertaining. The food really is beyond reproach. We had teriyaki chicken but it want chicken & vegetables cooked together, smothered in teriyaki sauce. It was light on sauce & the vegetables were cooled separately with a grilled flavor. The TJ Roll was crunchy & delicious. The Rainbow Roll was fresh & topped with an atypical spicy mayo sauce I havent had before. You really owe it to yourself to try this delightful place.

Very clean, nice, family owned restraunt. Plenty of options for non sushi eaters, although they have some of the best sushi in town. Lunch is very cheap with prices around $6-10 for most items. Be sure to get the salad. The ginger dressing is to die for. Great place to meet up with friends or take to go. Well kept up and service is always great. Best Japanease food in town for sure.

Seated quickly. Very nice staff. We both got beef teriyaki cooked medium. It was definitely a low quality cut of beef and cooked well done. My husband felt it was dry. Most of the veggies included was the majority cabbage. Not a variety. Neither of us finished our meal. Maybe theyre more known for their sushi. We likely wont go back.

My wife and I heard about Umi, so we thought we would try it for lunch. Wow, wow and wow. From the soup to the pork egg role, to the steamed shrimp dumplings, just to start. The Katsura and teriyaki that we shared, was in incredible. We really cant wait to go back for dinner.

We ordered takeout from here twice now and have to say it is delicious! We never thought that moving down to Tennessee from New York wed be able to enjoy good sushi but I have to admit this is just as good as it was on the coast. You wont be disappointed!

Very professional staff, cozy atmosphere, and amazing food. I love sushi, but I got the bento box for lunch. It comes with california rolls, which I dont really care for, but somehow they made them delicious. If they can do that, they can do anything.

Miss K! her and her husband own this place. Theyre super friendly. Good sushi. Fresh fish. Sashimi, good portion. Salmon Skin HR...MMMMMmmm... helpful staff, lots of orders to go. Udon, tasty! Lunch plates...well for lunch. Two TVs at the sushi bar.
