My boyfriend and I ate here on a warm Sunday afternoon. He had been before and really enjoyed it the last time he was there. This time we went, we had a horrible experience. The waitress was asking us why were were outside and wondering if we were hot. It was our choice to sit outside in the fresh air, so it should not have been an issue for her. Secondly, my bfs sandwich bread was incredibly hard toasted. He waited for about 15 minutes for her to come back out. Then he finally got up and went inside to have someone attend to him. Then, they brought the sandwich out, which was fine, but no fries! (since by this time his fries were cold.) He requested fries, but the waitress never came back to our table. Ever. Another waitress brought our fries out about 15 minutes later.. the same waitress who had been waiting hand and foot on the people right in front of us who were also sitting outside. (thank you alternate waitress.) Then to top it off, our trusty waitress came to the window beside our table, and while standing inside the building, tapped on the window to get our attention to ask us if we were ok.. using the "two thumbs up" sign language. I was done at that point. She was obviously inconvenienced by the warm weather and could not attend to us the way that she would have if we were sitting inside, in the air conditioned restaurant. Furthermore, when we told the gentelman at the counter when it was time to pay for our food, he told us that we were a lesser priority because we were sitting outside. Mind you, we were watching the table in front of us (outside) being served hand and foot by a very attentive waitress who was not given to tapping on the window to get their attention. The man at the counter took up for this kind of service, which is unacceptable on so many levels. I just dont know what else to say. You can have your Vittles. One horrible experience has erased a perfectly good experience, to say the least.

My wife and I came here to eat a few months ago. My food was ok. Nothing bad, nothing amazing. A little expensive. Today my wife talked me into giving it another shot. I wish we wouldnt have. I ordered the porkchops. I received two small pieces of meat, probably 4 oz each that had not been seasoned in any shape or form. Truly the worst pork chops Ive had. My wife got the roast beef. Hers was way too salty. The waitress was nice, but I believe new. She did not mention any specials at all. We heard the specials through the waitress serving the table next to us. That happens. But then we got to the counter and paid $30. That is way too much for VERY sub-par food. I honestly felt like they could care less about the meal. The place is awkward and so are the managers who work there. It seems like they have to force themselves to say hello to you. Maybe I just look funny, Im not sure, but either way I will not be going back. The food is not good either in seasoning or in quality (the pork chops were also very fatty and only about 1/4" thick), the atmosphere is awkward, and the management doesnt seem to care. Maybe Ive caught them on two bad days, Im not sure, but that was why I gave the place a second chance. No thanks. Ill go to Jeffersons instead and pay half the price for twice the quality food.

This is my first and last visit, I stopped in for lunch on a Saturday, I was really attracted to the outside seating and the southern comfort food. I guess I took too long to decide what I wanted so the waitress told me to come back inside the restaurant to tell her my order as if it would be an inconvenience to come back outside and check on me to see if I was ready to order. I went into the restaurant and ordered the chicken dumplings corn nuggets and cabbage with a different waitress she was much friendlier. When she brought my food out to me, there was a hair in the dumplings so I requested a new bowl. When the new bowl was brought out to me after many apologies I tasted it and it was cold as if it was just brought out from the refrigerator. It would have been good if it were hot but by then I was too unsatisfied with the order to send it back again. The second waitress took it off my bill and I still tipped the second waitress for her friendliness. I will not be returning or recommending to anyone.

If you like deep south cooking (or great food in general) you will LOVE this place! I ate there today and it was great as usual. Since my mother and I moved here to Nashville we quickly noticed that the city has great music & entertainment ,however, we had a bit of a culture shock with their food with us coming from the deep south (Mississippi, Alabama, Georgia, Louisiana, etc.) where cooking is a sport and flavor is a must. This place has been one of the very few with both great food and service! I dont eat anyones vegetables other than when my family cooks them because others either dont put seasoning in them or they just add sugar for "flavor" (I cant stand that); Vittles turnip greens, cabbage, and all other vegetables have great flavor and seasoning! My mother is very picky about her catfish being cooked like she wants and they ALWAYS do a great job; they fry it hard like she asks and the seasoning is delicious! Check this place out, it is one of the best in Nashville!

Horrible service. I got a half salad or whatever to go, yet still tipped and told the hostess that I would be eating there until I had to leave (hence to go). While I was sitting there, struggling to eat my salad whilst holding my squirmy baby, a waitress curtly asked me if I would be eating there because she noticed my Togo box. I said yes, and she proceeded to tell me I needed to move to the other side of the restaurant because she needed the table. I understand not wanting to clean up after someone who you arent serving directly since Im not sure if my tip would get to her, but she was very rude about it. There were only 3 other patrons in the restaurant and two of them witnessed the interaction. I was very embarrassed and left in a fluster and finished my salad sitting in my car. For $6, the salad was lazily made and minuscule. For the $2 tip, the "service" was atrocious. Will never pay those people another dime, and will never recommend to visiting clients.

We went for breakfast. My food was good. Eggs, grits, sausage and biscuit. My problem is with an individual thats works there. There was a man working and Im not sure of his position there. He seemed to do a little of everything. He worked the register, cleared tables and was in and out of the kitchen. His demeanor was pleasant I assumed he may be the manager however I witnessed him handling a customers food with his bare hands which violates the health code. Had I not finished my food I wouldnt have taken another bite. Im sure things like this go on in the food service industry all the time but I prefer to not have to see it or know about it.
