Not sure how to review this since we never got to the food... I called before leaving the house to see if I could make a reservation (even though it was a Tuesday). I was told there were no reservations available, but 75% of their seating is walk-ins anyway. After arrival, we requested an outdoor table and were walked past quite a few open tables by the "hostess" (who should probably be fired immediately) until we were sat at a table so far in the back corner, that it was in front of an exhaust fan from the adjacent condo. We couldnt hear ourselves talk over the fan noise, and it was blowing hot air on us, so we kindly asked the "hostess" for another outdoor table. She proceeded to tell us that the other tables are for reservations only. We calmly walked away from that trainwreck of an experience next door to the Carolina Crab Company, where we were immediately seated in the middle of their outdoor seating, which coincidentally was no more than 20 feet from Black Marlins hostess stand, and I had a great crab stuffed flounder while listening to a very good selection of live music. The service was amazing, even from the trainee who was shadowing our waitress. While we had our dinner, we witnessed exactly 2 couples walk up to the Black Marlin host stand, one who sat indoors and the other seated outside at a "reserved" table. Not sure who all those other empty tables were reserved for. My suggestion would be to stop at the host stand for Carolina Crab Company first before wasting any more steps going to the Black Marlin.

9/2012~~Saw the reviews on Google Maps and decided to give it a shot. We were on our way home to PA and stayed at the Hilton Head RV Resort. It was a Thursday and jammed but we did get a table right away. Dont quite understand the two restaurants side-by-side. Made a mistake and went to Woodys first and before we were seated realized our mistake and the hostess had a fit...LOL. Did not have a water view as there are condos in the front (glad I dont live there). Husband had the low country boil which he liked and I had the crab legs with roasted potatoes. Very good. The table next to us demanded that the staff turn huge fans on to ward off the flies which come at sunset. The fans blew right on us and I thought I was going to get an earache. Asked one of the managers to turn the fan down which he did...no problem. Well, the table next to us had a fit and complained. The waitress blamed the flies on my crab legs. That was a hoot cause the flies werent really bothering us...crab legs and all. The other table had a bunch of flies around them. Had to laugh the whole thing off. (were older so not much bothers us) Drank my first mojito which was very good. Pricey but what do you expect for Hilton Head...it aint gonna be cheap. Would go back...before the flies come out...lol!

The Black Marlin Bayside Grill has the BEST food EVER! ALL the staff are great and the atmosphere is super comfortable! Did I mention our waiter Jake???? Jake is AMAZEBALLS! He went above and beyond to make sure we had an awesome brunch experience! My Baby Gucci, might be just a dog anywhere else, but not here! Jake even asked what did Gucci want to order and made sure the Chef made Guccis bacon crispy but not burnt exactly the way Gucci loves it and a big bowl of water to top it off!!!! We will definitely be back! Can I have a shipment of those hash browns mailed to me???? I can eat them everyday for the rest of my life! I thought the truffle fries at Guy Fiere restaurant in Vegas was the most amazing food Ive ever had until I had the hash browns at Black Marlins!!!!! I take my hat off to the Chef! Customer for life here!!!!! M N Pearson

Between 4:00pm until 5:30 pm on Monday to Sunday early dining $15 selected menu!!! For the price my selection was fried shrimp, regular cut French fries, slaw and a house salad. My spouse ordered the flounder and shrimp, fries, slaw and house salad. Also a beverage is included with the meal. Our choice was iced sweet tea. A basket of hot yummy bread served while awaiting the entrees. Entrees were hot hot and delicious. Fresh seafood. The helpings was hefty. We left full and happy. Also, the manager visited our table twice. Waiter was cordial, efficient, and accommodating to our culinary needs. We did not get libations but there were plenty to choose. We are returning and next time I will order the white chocolate cranberry cheesecake for dessert!!!

This was my first trip to Hilton Head, my Wife and I are time share owners, we were shopping and asked about a good seafood restaurant in the area, two women spoke up at the same time " go to the Black Marlin Bayside Grill". A few hours later we received a coupon for the Black Marlin and decided to go to dinner there. I and my Wife both love seafood alfredo, Note: We have had this meal probably at 15 to 20 different restaurants, this was the BEST SEAFOOD ALFREDO We have ever eaten anywhere! Thanks to a few locals and a coupon we know where to go to enjoy a good meal, reasonably priced, good atmosphere and GREAT SERVICE! Enjoy people enjoy!

I cant rate your food because our party of 6 African Americans was refused service . I am an African American our party made reservations and was refused to be served. We were ther with Annual School Board Convention. This was dishartening and cold blooded Racism. We made reservations and for 45 minutes we watched at least 15 parties that went in front of us and when we told the manager of our disrespect of not serving us the employee had no answer for not serving us.. Terrible experience I will never return to Hilton Head again the history is still present. I will pray that God removes all of your hatred of African Americans.

What not to order, Well the fried sea food platter, just lacks seasoning. PERIOD. The broiled platter is the absolute best between the two. The kids size cheese pizza was a great hit with our daughter. The bread and butter that was served at the table for a complimentary appetizer was off the chain, just awesome. The atmosphere was great. The price is a little on the higher end , but not to high, It cost almost $100 for two adults and one 2 year old ... So basically,. prices are high, but with the atmosphere and the lay out of the shops that abound, well worth the money and well worth the trip.... We had a great time..

Very very bad it was. I had the scallops which were served with a horrid sauce that tasted of vanilla. On the side, there was a Mexican combination of rice, black beans and corn. And Im sorry, but that just doesnt go with ocean scallops. If I had to come back here, I certainly wouldnt. The waitress didnt seemed to be bothered whatsoever with her job. She lazily walked about the restaurant and was borderline disrespectful. My friend Dave ordered the seafood platter which was served cold and was also very bad. The lobster tail was god awful.
