I really wanted to like this restaurant... great location and all. But, the food was very mediocre. On a scale of 1-10 I would give it a 5.5. The biggest problem is lack of flavor. My wife and I had a cheese plate for an appetizer. As cheese plates go it was a 7. Greenville restaurants just cant figure out how to offer a good cheese plate with three or four wonderful cheeses along with fruit and chutneys that make you want to come back for more. It is like no one has ever ventured out of South Carolina for a decent meal. This cheese plate was one of the better ones in Greenville, but it still lacks the style one would find in a bigger city. Well keep looking. For our "mains" we had the potato and smoked salmon croquettes along with the Root Vegetable Pot Pie with Salad Alsace (added chicken). The chef split the dishes for us and went above and beyond to prepare our meals in a beautiful fashion. But, as lovely as the meals were presented, sadly, they were extremely bland. Root vegetables are not the most flavorful and the pot pie needed herbs and seasoning to enhance their flavor. We gave both of these dishes a 5. With a bottle of wine our bill came to $95 including gratuity. For that price I would expect to receive a much better meal. I doubt we will return for dinner. We might give Passerelle Bistro a chance for lunch in the future, but not before we try many more restaurants in the Main Street area. I doubt it will still be there when we finally come around to giving it another try.

I have eaten here twice. Once for brunch and last night for dinner. We were not impressed with brunch but after a year we decided to give it second chance and try dinner. Still not impressed and after a $50 tab we left hungry and went and ate somewhere else. The coffee was horrible both times. I give one star for fabulous views and location and one for our server was very friendly and attentive. I started with the cheese plate and the brie was good but the other cheese was absolutely disgusting! It smelled and tasted like rotting vagina! So much so, I had to go wash my hands afterwards. It also came with 4 sugar coated almonds and three candied figs and a scoop of smoked salmon which was blah. Then I had the shrimp which were huge but floating in some kind of tastless orange oil and the shrimp tasted like a fish tank. My dog enjoyed them. My husband had the root pate which consisted of rutabagas, sweet potato, and carrots and quinoa and spinach. The cubes were not consistent so many of the roots were raw! And that so called gravy was something aunt jamama would serve over her biscuits. Just nasty! For some reason the waitress decided to give us a free slice of sweet potato cake....yea she could keep it. I dont know how to describe my disappointment in this cake.

I have been here several times. The last two times, the experience has been consistently bad so I decided to write a review (one bad experience in 5 or 6 isnt a trend, but two in a row is a problem). interestingly enough, the last two times I went, I went alone. I got seated at the chefs bar; the server didnt even ask if that was okay even though there were plenty of tables available. Then, I sat.....and sat...and waited. I was the only one at the chefs bar. The kitchen staff (who was in my face) didnt acknowledge me. The expeditor didnt acknowledge me. I sat for 5 minutes and no one ever approached me at all, no greeting, no water--nothing--although servers buzzed past me numerous times. No acknowledgement and barely one from the host(ess who essentially dropped my menu and disappeared. I got up, and left out the front door, still with no acknowledgement. The last time this happened, I stayed until I was served against my better judgement. It appears they have a problem with single diners. Maybe the service staff thinks the check wont be a large enough to make the tip worth their time. Im a very good tipper--usually 25-30% if the service is good. Probably wont go back (alone or in a party).

Wow, avoid at all costs. Not French whatsoever. I was there with my wife on Thursday Jan 28th, 2016. My wife had the Baked Goat Cheese appetizer, which was very, VERY greasy. I had the Garlic Shrimp… which was sitting in some orange colored oil, not butter. The Chicken Paillard was beaten to resemble a flat piece of cardboard and over fried. The capers sprinkled on the top must be the ‘french’ part of the recipe, but the cheesy lemon wedge on the side of the plate was just that. My flank steak was okay, although very rare and not medium-rare as requested, plus it was slightly under seasoned but the fingerling potatoes were WAY TOO SALTY, and that comes from a guy who loves salt (REALLY love salt). The Crème Brulee was not a crème Brulee at all, it was an egg custard (I love Crème Brulee and order it everywhere, I know what I’m talking about). The apple pie was okay. The wine was excellent (they didn’t make that) and the service was attentive and pleasant. Oh… one last thing… none of the photos you find online reveal that there is a flat screen TV in the dining room. Had I seen that, I would have avoided. That’s a dead giveaway of unclassiness.

TERRIBLE overall. The bread, butter, and radishes, while classic French, were abismal. The butter seemed like it had been in the freezer for hours. The butter paired with radishes is supposed to be creamy. Also had the pork rillettes, which was even worse. There was a layer of duck fat covering only ONE FOURTH of the dish. While the toast points served were well-done (but, is it really that hard to toast bread?), the rillettes, like the butter, was half-frozen and made the toast point break off when dipping. Apps were so bad, we didnt even bother ordering mains. Furthermore, the service was almost as bad as the food. For instance, our waiter opened his first bottle of wine in his life for us. It got all over me when he pulled the cork out, ruining my pants. Never, I repeat, NEVER give this place your business.

My girlfriend and I were seated very quickly so that was nice. After that it went downhill. Our server filled our waters and that was the last time during the evening that it happened. The server forgot my girlfriends drink until I reminded her. The sweet potato soup was decent and came out in a very reasonable amount of time. The food came a decent time after that. She ordered the Rillettes and it was alright. I had ordered the mussels and it tasted extremely fishy, so I only had a couple. After waiting about 10 minutes, with empty waters and fishy mussels, we gave money to the hostess and left. I typically have about a 50/50 experience at Passerelles. I love the atmosphere and French food, so I normally take the risk of bad food/bad server, but after this last time, I wont be returning.

First I need to start off by saying that Im a chef and I was trained by the French, now with that being said, dining at passerelle made me remember why I miss working for the French, the food was just as I remember from my chefs, outstanding....we had a 6:30 reservation, although the waitstaff was buzzing around with the business of the restaurant, and it was somewhat loud, the waitress was attentive and was sure to take care of my sister who is celiac, the food came out in a timely manner, I ordered the chefs rillette and summer cassoulet, my sister and mom got the flat iron and my dad got the lamb, the cassoulet and rillette was spot on, it brought back many memories of my time working for the French.... Excellent...
