Iama Critic Rating - Copper River Grill - 4 stars 775 Haywood Road, Greenville, SC Overall: Some entrees too pricey, but manages to eak out four stars! But the flounder platter is too die for! Order an optional bun and make the biggest flounder sandwich ever! $3.79 Side Salad - 2 stars Side salad came with a heavenly croissant, honey mustard and a warm dish of onion chutney. Sadly the salad looks nothing like what they advertise on their website and did not come with chopped egg or ham and with so little tomato that I suppose they could make 6 salads per roma tomato. And the vast majority of the salad is not chopped greens as advertised on their website but rather chopped iceberg lettuce, which is bollocks! A truly sad side salad! $5.99 She Crab Soup - 4 stars Costs you a hefty $6.00. Thankfully it is very good. Not the best, but good, and not good for you either, as there is lots of fat in this silky smooth soup, but you should try it once. $15.95 10oz Sirloin Steak - 4 stars This is the CHEAPEST steak at Copper River Grill and it will set you back $16.00. For that kind of money you have the right to expect better than average. The presentation was sub-par as my steak was almost cut in two and bare on the plate. I mean throw something on the plate beside the steak. A little parley, a drizzle of sauce, anything! And who cut my gorgeous steaks like that? However the flavor did not disappoint. The mashed potatoes were very nice and slightly spicy and a decent portion. $4.00 side baked potato - 4 stars $3.49 side of grilled chicken breast - 4 stars I purchased the baked potato with the she crap soup for $9.50 and saved a buck or two. The potato came with some chives, bacon, butter and sour cream, so this potato makes it, if barely, into the "loaded" category. The potato was fabulously cooked, BIG and soft. and the chicken breast, although entirely covered in cheese, was tasty and moist. $15.95 Golden Fried Flounder - 5 stars The exact same fantastic flounder platter you can get at J.Peters and it comes with a pathetic side salad and one side item. I choose spicy mashed potatoes. For $16 this better be the the best flounder platter ever, and it is. I ordered an optional toast hoagie roll and made the worlds greatest flounder sandwich, and as long as Copper River Grill doesnt get skimpy on the two huge fillets you get, you will love it too. I am giving it 4 stars - it could be easily be a zero or it could be five stars but they need to fix some issues and they have some great things going too. They do have a great staff. The staff is nicely dressed and friendly and they know their menu. The place is warm and looks like an expensive ski chalet and has a big fire place that just brings warmth to the atmosphere. Prices appear very reasonable for an upscale tavern restaurant and especially for their steaks. Looking at those that had already been served the meal portions seemed huge! My husband and I had a very fast and attentive server. We ordered an appetizer right away and some drinks. We were told they were out of our appetizer (I forgot what it was) so we decided to just order our meals. My husband added a salad to his meal and the waiter left. He returned with a salad that was in ICE. The salad was not wilted on the top but was embedded into the ice when my husband moved his fork around you could see lettuce in the ice, also the melting water was not mixing well with the salad dressing. The waiter came back and we asked about it. The waiter said that the restaurant, freezes the plates to keep the salad cold. But because of how it looks it looks like "yesterdays" salad was put back in the freezer. He offered to get my husband a new salad but my husband just said asked to cancel the salad. Shortly after our food arrived. Our food arrived hot and SWIMMING in grease. Apparently dripping off from the skinning onion rings the waiter recommended. The grease pooled so much that it was covered maybe an 1/8" of the whole plate. When the waiter came to check on us he saw it (a minute later). Our sandwiches and sides were soaking and merging with the grease and it looked weird! He said he would send it back and gave it to the bus boy and apologized and walked to the front of the restaurant I am guessing to talk to a manager. As we waited we heard others complaining and different waiters handling different issues. When the waiter came back he told us it would be about 10 minutes. There was no offer of discounts of anything and none of the other guest were offer anything but very sorry waiters. Like others we asked if we could just cancel our ordered. He said yes and we cashed out and gave him a nice tip. IMO I think management knows that they have a bad kitchen and I feel really sorry for the waiters. I dont think I would go back nor would I recommend this place, but I do hope they fix their problems as I go to Greenville often.

On a Sunday when its known to be busy, they were seriously understaffed. There was a 25 min wait for a table so we decided to sit at the bar which we were told offered full service. It took almost 10 minutes before the bartender (only one working) came over. We told her we were ready to order. She took our drink order but didnt bother taking our food order at that time. She brought the one drink over but not the two ice waters we asked for. Then she left the bar area completely. When she came back, she proceeded to serve everyone else at the bar. After another 10 minutes of waiting, we went back to the hostess. Luckily, they were able to seat us, even though theyd taken our name off the list. We went to close our bar tab and we only had $100 bill to pay with. She said she would only have 1s to give us back. We left and went to our table. Our waitress took our order but it took quite a while before our food arrived. I ordered the potato soup, which is normally very good here, but was nearly all oil and very little potatoes. Sat without a drink refill for several minutes, even though she brought others in our area refills. Waitress seemed frazzled and needing help. Asked for our check and she slammed it on the table before heading off to another table, even though we were set to hand her our payment. Had been waiting for several minutes to get our change back and she came back with a complaint that no one had change for a hundred. This restaurant was packed and no reason they should have the change. Not satisfied with this experience at all and most likely will be my last visit here.

My brother came in from out of town for his 50th birthday, we went here in June because this USED to be a good restaurant. My family arrived before I did and unfortunately they didnt know the difference between being put in the "party" room and actually sitting in the restaurant where you get the full experience and ambiance. In between the terrible service, the food being sent back more than twice (nasty pre-made salad) it was a horrible evening. BUT to the end the evening I asked for a cup of coffee, luckily I use creamer otherwise I would not have seen the BUG in my coffee!! I not only paid for that cup of coffee I left it on the table. THE worst part of the whole thing is when I wrote in to the restaurant all they could say was "sorry, you should have asked for a manager" "well be sure to train our staff" training that should have happened when they were hired. They didnt offer anything to make up for that debacle, they seriously only care about heir bottom line. We spent as a table near $200 that night. Never again. What I should have done and will do from now on in the future is go to CHEESECAKE FACTORY across the street!!! Guaranteed service and QUALITY food without bugs!! We used to drive all the way to Charlotte for that wonderfulness but now its right here in Greenville! We used to be long time customers of CRG, but were never going back. No point.
