I went to Tsunami last week with three other friends to celebrate a special occasion. Everything was fine aside from the fact that our server accidentally poured my entire plate of teriyaki chicken, fried rice and vegetables into my lap. She apologized many times and brought out another plate, but at the end of our meal, she brought my check and I was very surprised to see that she had not discounted or taken care of my meal completely. Im not one to look for excuses for free meals, so I didnt say anything, but I personally think that having my dinner poured into my lap is a good enough reason to receive some sort of compensation. I also had no manager or supervisor come to the table to apologize, check on us, or even offer a free dessert. My assumption is that our server didnt tell her supervisors so she wouldnt get in trouble - or at least I hope thats the reason a manger didnt come by to make sure everything was smoothed over. The next day, I emailed the restaurant from the contact information on their website to let them know what happened. Its been almost a week and I havent heard back. Needless to say, Im not in a hurry to come back to this restaurant. With reading these other reviews, its clear customer satisfaction isnt a high priority.

Do not recommend! Poor Customer Service, tables available but unable to be serve due to staffing issues, which was understandable. There were 2 sits available at the bar unattended and we ask the guest that were sitting there if someone was sitting there and was told no. The bartender came to us and said someone is sitting there and they are on the way. I told the bartender Tsunamis do not hold tables based on what the greeter told me. The bartender had no valuable explanation and walked off I then requested to speak to the manager. I spoke to Evan which apologized and told me we could sit there, and that the only people that were sitting there was employees but they had left. Evan handle the situation in a professional manner but I declined service due to his unprofessional and rude staff. If you want Tsunamis try the one on Harbinson .

My friends tell me that my experience was rare and they have never had as bad of service, but I struggle to give this place more than 1 star. The only things giving this 2 stars is the lovely female bartender (I think erin?) and the food was pretty good. The service was awful though. We were sat at a horribly wobbly table, told to handle it ourselves with our waitor, waited 10 minutes for someone to come to our table, waited just under an hour after ordering to get one of my friends entree, and i had a hair in my sushi. I was told that this only happened because of a brand new staff so I may give it another shot, but Im not totally sure.

Ive been to Tsunami a few times. I usually go for one of two reasons, the 3 rolls of $9 or if I want some Zipang sake (which Tsunami is the only place with it that I know of). It certainly isnt the best sushi place in town as far as taste, but for the price it is worth the trip. Im not sure about what happened to one of the other reviewers and the dress code, but every time my friends and I go we are in cargo shorts and t-shirts and have never had anyone deny us. All in all, if you have a big appetite and love sushi (like me), Tsunami is a great place to go (during happy hour at least) for a good 6 rolls of sushi on the cheap.

This establishment is unusual. For a place which serves sushi its interior is humongous--high ceiling and ample table spacing. Im accustomed to eating sushi in confined settings. Yet with all the spacious interior, availability of unoccupied tables around mine, and no television turned on, the place was loud due to accoustic noise, I suppose. There were numerous college students eating here, and it seemed to serve as a hangout. The food was okay, nothing special. Unfortunately the sushi was cool, not cold, but I didnt become ill. This restaurant seems suitable for college students, not business visitors. Service was mediocre.

Dont even think about going to eat at Tsunamis in Columbia, SC unless you are dressed to the nine! We heard such great reviews about this restaurant so we drove downtown payed $5 to park and it was a complete disappointment! They wouldnt even let us in the door said that we couldnt eat there because we were not dressed appropriately and kicked us out of the restaurant. Last time I checked Columbia, SC is no were near Hollywood status! I mean come on they still have a Piggly Wiggly in town! Better off going to Saki! Dont waste your time or money at Tsunami Sushi !

Website said they opened at 4:00pm on Sundays, arrived there at 3:55 doors were open we walked inside nd we ignored for about 10 minutes while hostess was surfing on her cell phone at the bar. Then we were told that we would not be seated until 4:30??? Whats up with that? You advertise you are open at one time but wont seat untill a 1/2 hour later? Wait staff was pleasent but management and hostess need remedial training in customer relations. Dont worry I wont waste any more of your time and you can be assured I WILL be sure to share this experience often.

The food is good but after multiple experiences with hostesses that are either untrained or dont care I will not be returning. On a Sunday night with an empty restaurant we should not have been told that a party of 8 couldnt be seated. We would have been willing to wait longer to be served since they were understaffed but instead were told our party could either be split or leave. We chose to leave. I wish this is the first time this had happened but instead this a regular occurrence. Hire more servers or lose business. Like ours.

Great Friday special, select sushi rolls 3 for $9. Pretty good sake selection at what seems like reasonable prices. Recently relocated, really nice new spot, nice atmosphere, good for friends, date, or group. Their fresh spring rolls are good but not exactly what I had expected, they are more of a sushi roll wrapped in rice paper minus the rice - only two ingredients inside (I think).

Service and food are horrible, we were shocked based on reviews. My wife"s drink arrived after the apps had arrived and I had to track down the manager to even get him to grab the drink for us. The sashimi was too thick and fishy and the rolls were bland. Dessert, green tea ice cream, was freeze burnt! Go elsewhere in Columbia, anywhere.

Good service, good food! Came in with a large group so food took a little while- I cant attest to the speed of food coming out under more normal circumstances! Tried the Apple Sake and actually wasnt disappointed. Recommend the Crispy Crab Wontons! (Side note- I didnt give 5 ☆ because rice tasted funny... could just be an off night.)

Our waiter was great and the rolls were absolutely delicious. I loved the feel of the old brick building with the contemporary Iinterior design. Its not a calm quiet place like many sushi joints, but my companion and I could easily have a conversation over our meal without any difficulty hearing each other.
