This place was awesome! I ordered a brat that was on special and it was sooo good! I was a member of the clean plate club, if you know what I mean. I dined alone and sat by the large window up front watching a storm pass by. They have many seating options if you prefer something more dark/cozy. Waitress was very friendly and helped me pick out a beer (Im more of a wine girl, myself). It is a little pricey but a delicious trendy spot to meet up with friends.

they make all theyre own beer on the premises... if you pay a little extra they will give you a big jug of it to take home with you, that you can bring back to get refilled! the look of the place is great, everyone is very nice. Awesome bartenders and wait staff will bring you some amazingly good food... a great place to just hang out, or to see some great music if you go on jazz night. they also get some of the most eclectic bands in town!

This quaint out of the way restaurant/brewery is the destination for good beer and good food. The numerous times I have gone I have only had one average food experience. The other times I would have to say either good or great. I have a rule though, get the specials! The quail dish (see utha m.) was an exception to the rule here. The place is an experience so dont go in a hurry, enjoy the drink, food, and atmosphere.

Outstanding decor, with a very warm feeling due to all the wood. I live all the fresh and local menu options. Something for every diet and every taste. My grass-fed NY strip was outstanding. The Mac and cheese is delicious. The salads are freshly prepared and crisp. The wait staff are very laid back and friendly. The sweet tea was truly southern. The prices are great and the location is easy to find. Sure to please.

Been here couple times, good selection of beer and sometimes a good band even. Tried out their burgers this time, my friend ordered a H-G burger and claimed it was the best burger shes eaten in Columbia, I got myself a backbean burger, whcih I wasnt too impressed with. It was too crumbly and unmanageable to eat. Although I absolutely loved their hash browns it was super yum!

Served a rare porkchop, cut it in half to show the waitress and sent it back. It returned with only half a porkchop and I was charged the full $17.95... Wasnt happy or satisfied. Will never return nor recommend. Very disappointed. Would give less stars if possible. In response to the reply: I wont be able to come in for that refund or gift certificate for another year.

My FAVORITE place in Cola!! From the drinks, to the amazing menu with FRESH specials. I have never left HG without feeling incredibly satisfied. The staff is just awesome. I always have one waitress (unsure of her name!) who has worked their forever and I truly love her. So sweet, attentive and funny. The atmosphere is original, cozy and low key. Keep it up guys!

First off, you have to put aside the "seat yourself", how packed it is, and the fact there is no commercial beer. What you have is exquisite food (pork belly with peach salsa for example), great environment, and house beer (recommend the bitter brew). It is a place that no one can go to unless they are in Columbia and it is well worth the trip.

Not a bad place! Tried 3 of their beers. Pale Ale, ESB (Extra Special Bitter) and High Gravity. Out of all 3, the ESB I liked the most. Ordered a cheese pizza as well to see how it performed. Did well to my high standards. If you are in the area, give them a try. You will not be disappointed!

The go-to place for everyone in downtown Columbia, and a good choice for vegetarians. The tofu marsala is a favorite of meat-eaters and vegetarians alike, and H-Gs beer is delicious. Hunter-Gatherer has a high attention to detail, and everything they serve is dependably good.

Pretty great place. They brew their own beer and have done so for years - theyre not just following a trend. The food is also solid. Great burgers and entrees, not to mention daily specials. If you happen to be there when they are offering the pork belly, get that.

Excellent food! The atmosphere is very cool very rustic building. The food is phenomenal, I tried the smoked chicken ravioli. Simply sublime. Just get there early or else there is a line. Fairly limited seating. But definitely worth going to if you are near Columbia.

The atmosphere, the food, & the beer are exceptional at Hunter Gatherer. However, the service and hospitality we received made us not wanting to ever go back. Every person we had contact with acted as though they were doing us a favor, if they communicated at all!.

Have been with a large group and the food was "good" but not up to the hype. When we went - just us two - it was better. Still do not think its on par with the one in Washington DC. Perhaps its because it has been a long time since we were in the one in Washington

Ive always had a good time at Hunter Gatherer. I enjoy a good beer but not as much as my fiance who is always talking about bitters and stouts and whatnot. The food is satisfying if not exactly fine dining, but weve never left upset.

Had dinner with my daughters and one if their friends - fabulous meal. Had interesting specials including chicken pot pie and tile fish. Prices were very reasonable. Microbrew was also very tasty. Will go back next time in town.

Very interesting-looking, simple place. No frills but who cares? Surprisingly delicious food. Great service. Not the largest selection of beer but good stuff nonetheless. Our new favorite spot for when we can get a sitter.

Small. 5 or 6 tables downstairs with a small upstairs overlooking the brewing vats, bare brick wall. Almost perfect, but not quite there. Gotta keep looking for the perfect place and come back frequently to double check. :)

Quick review: Great food, good beer. I enjoyed my dinner here, and I thought that the place has a good vibe to it. One note: the mustard sauce for the sausage balls overpowers the sausage balls.

Nice little brewery. Beer was good, but the limited daily selection made me kind sad. Wanted to try the IPA but they werent serving it that day. That aside, great place. Pizza was really good too.
