We stopped in Akron looking for pizza and discovered Brickoven Brewpub. Akron is a college town with no shortage of pizza establishments so the high marks it receives on Yelp helped us make our choice. The dine-in area is small, but what it lacks in size, it makes up for in food and service. Everything from the sauce, to the dough, to the cured meats are done in-house, and the pizzas are cooked in a wood burning brick oven. I would have loved to try a deep dish pizza, but we didnt want to wait the hour for it to cook, so we went with the regular Sicilian style pizza with pepperoni, sopressata, Italian sausage, hard salami, onions, garlic, mozzarella, and parmesan. It was fantastic. I loved the spicy homemade sauce. We didnt drink any beer, but they also have 4 beers produced in-house. Its no wonder Brickoven gets such high marks.

Ok, so heres what you need to remember about this place. Its a great atmosphere, awesome people, great food and great beer. Is the wait long? Yes. Check for the least busy times and go then. Is the food awesome? For sure! Ive tried the deep dish pepperoni, the BBQ chicken pizza. Oatmeal stout, PBJ, and Cream Ale. All delicious. Wait times for pizza are a little long (deep dish cook time 1 hr), is it worth it? Every damn time. Seriously, if you have sometime, enjoy yourself. Enjoy the atmosphere and remember to be nice when it comes to wait times.

The manager was so unbelievably rude, she made a huge scene in front of eveyone that worked there and all of the customers because the pizza she made for me made my stomach upset, she wouldnt give me a refund and tried to embarrass me in front of the whole restaurant, she should not be working with people, she has zero customer service skills, this was my first time here and i will not be back. The server Amanda was wonderful despite the terrible experience.

Would give zero stars but have to give one. Stopped in at 8:00pm Saturday night and was told that they were not taking any more tables because they were out of food... When I pressed and said what about just a beer, was told they were out of that too. This place is on the #summitbrewpath, guess I wont finish the path because I wont waste my time going back. Its even more disappointing that the Summit County CVB would choose such a poorly run establishment.

This place has amazing deep dish pizza and several other tasty menu items. The hand-crafted beer was surprisingly delicious for such a small brewing setup. I docked a star because when we went, they had run out of many sizes of dough and menu items, which appeared to be a common occurrence when they get busy. Will definitely be frequenting again!

I would put zero stars if that was a possibility. The servers were very polite but the food was disgusting. It made my girlfriend very sick and the chicken on our pizza was gray. & to top it all off the manager was very hostile and rude, and wouldnt take it off our bill. This was our 1st experience here and it will most certainly be our last.

The staff were friendly and attentive. The pizza is baked in a pizza oven on site and several "speciality" pizzas are offered. The pizza is ok. Its better than Pizza Hut and the like but it does not hold a candle to Pavonas. The beer was nothing to write home about. No obvious off flavors, but kind of bland and unremarkable.

BEST PIZZA EVER!! This pizza is incredible! All the pizzas are made in a wood burning pizza oven. This is a labor of love! We appreciate your hard work!! Homemade crust that is so good! SO GOOD!! We CRAVE this pizza. Everything is made fresh and I cant explain to you how great it tastes! AMAZING!!

The food is amazing and much of the ingredients are made in house. Even the peanut butter. New specialty pizzas are written on the chalkboard wall often. And then theres the beer. Also made there onsite. The beer is worth stopping by on its own, but have some pizza while youre there.

This pizza is unreal. Every element perfect. At worst tied for the best pizza I have ever had and probably the best. I was eating to much pizza to drink much beer, but the few I had were good clean solid brews, I am a big fan of this place. Service was great as well.

Very good beer and excellent pizzas. Unfortunately, they were out off all but two(!) beers when I and a few friends visited. This is a very small place, so getting a seat can be difficult, but it would be worth it when the brewpub actually has some brews to offer.

Went there on the 28th of May. Checked their website and their Facebook, before going, to check their hours. We drove out of our way to get there, and they were closed at 6 pm on a Sunday. No postings online, or at the door. Thought the place closed down.

I eat a lot of pizza and this was the best pizza Ive ever had. Because of time restrains I was not able to try the deep dish, so I ordered the thin crust supreme. FANTASTIC! The beer was sub par but the pizza was so good I didnt deduct any stars.

The pizza is some of the best pizza I have ever had. I was really surprised and was not expecting that here. Much like Chicagos best. I highly recommend going here. Also have great sides to go along with the pizza. You wont be disappointed.

The pizza rolls were cold on the inside and questionable if they were raw. There was a terrible odor in the place and the dough in our dessert pizza was uncooked. Finally, our stamp for the beer passport was the worst stamp of all of them.

The best pizza I have ever had. New weekly special pizzas that surpass expectations in strangeness or uniqueness, yet have now become some of my absolute favorites. Its strange to go to a "normal" pizza place after being a regular here.

Not only do they brew their own beers, their dough is made with love, baked in an oven made of brick (REAL BRICK!), and fired by the tastiest hardwoods in the land! 11/10; Im taking my growler next time for more of that sweet sweet IPA.

Wow. Fantastic pizza. Ive had New Haven pizza, so I know wood fired pizza. These pies are legit. Great topping selection, and that great bubbled crisp crust make for a fantastic pizza. If youre a meat lover, try the Sicilian.

Hot, fresh, tasteful ingredients on homemade bread dough. Not greasy. Love the weekly pizza specials. Everything on the menu is delicious. Homemade beer on tap made by the owner himself. You must try the flight of beers!

The calzone I had was very tasty. They brew their own beer, but only had 5 kinds on tap. It takes about 45 mins to make the pizzas and calzones because its made to order. Will go here again. Fair prices.

The deep dish pizza is worth every minute of the hour wait it takes to cook. Enjoy some of the fantastic creative beers in this cozy place while you wait. Get there early because they do sell out!
