My wife and I traveled from Alabama to Charleston for a 3-day sight-seeing vacation and decided to stay at the Holiday Inn here. After an 8 hour drive, we were exhausted and decided to just dine at the restaurant at the top of the hotel. The experience was absolutely miserable. To begin with we were brought rolls by a gentlemen that basically threw them on our table, said nothing and walked off. Eventually our waiter came around and I attempted to order the Monte Cristo sandwich from the "fancy" menu, but I didnt want the rasberry jam on it. The waiter informed me that he couldnt bring it out that way and there are no substitutions. I was a little confused since every restaurant Ive ever eaten at has let me hold some sort of condiment. So I decided to just get a hamburger instead. I also ordered a soda. After about 10 minutes our food arrived. I never received my soda. Our waiter rushed off before I could even ask him for it. The quality of the food was abysmal. I have had microwaved burgers better than what I was served. The "steak fries" were just a bag of regular bargain-brand fries fried in grease. We ate our food, still trying to enjoy the experience. Since the trip was for my wifes birthday I didnt want to make a scene. NEVER did the waiter come back around to check on us. He checked on both tables around us and not us. I drank all of my water and even had to ask my wife if I could share hers since the waiter never came and refilled my glass. Finally after we had stomached what we could of the overpriced microwave food, the waiter came and picked up our plates and brought the ticket. Of course he had the soda charged to the ticket. I told him I never got the soda and he said hed remove it. Never once did he apologize for forgetting about it. Never did he ask how our meal was. To make matters worse, the table behind us must have had some bad food, because the manager came by and I heard him talking (for about 15 minutes) to them and kept apologizing and offering to comp that meal. Never once did he ask how we were as he walked off. I am just completely distraught by this experience. Dont bother wasting your hard-earned money at this garbage restaurant. The food is worse than McDonalds/Burger King and the service is too. Not to mention paying 4xs the price.

My wife and I have been doing the Brunch thing here in Charleston at several different places around town in preparation for all of the visitors/family members we have visit who want to experience a Charleston SC brunch. In our hunt for hidden gems we decided to check out the Harbor View Restaurant atop the holiday inn on the Ashley River. The experience started with an awkward 5-6 minute wait for the elevator, of which there are only two to service all of the vacationers who are shuffling through the small lobby to check in/out. Once we got to the top floor we found that the view is absolutely awesome, however the $10 buffet was the most disgusting slop i have ever had in my life. The eggs were powdered and foul, all of the bread including pancakes, croissants and danishes were dry and crumbly. The sausage was greasy, hash browns were the frozen kind. The only thing i could eat was the bacon which was still pretty low quality, fruit (the only real saving grace) and the coffee. This is what you expect from a free breakfast at a hotel but absolutely not up to par with the rest of Charleston. Note to Holiday inn: you have a great location and view figure out a way to serve a quality breakfast and youll have a winner. Note to Foodies: until that day comes stay far far away; go to the Glass Onion, Triangle or the Bear E Patch instead.

Seriously bad. Tried this twice in a row Bc I was staying at the hotel. Its an absolute ripoff that breakfast is not included with your room first of all. But even if it was, Id go elsewhere. The breakfast buffet eggs tasted like cardboard despite looking appealing. The servers were poor and did a good job of playing favorites with the tables. I ordered off the menu the second go around and not only did my server completely ignore what I said for my order, the kitchen failed at making eggs over medium. I ordered three eggs... Thats three chances to get it right! Fail. If you are staying at this hotel I highly suggest visiting Callies on King street or Three Little Birds cafe in West Ashley(very quick&easy drive).

What was great? The view! Just dont bother eating breakfast here. Took 10 minutes to get seated with only 6 tables full. But... Eggs had no flavor, powdered and overdone. Sausage was undercooked. Took 10 minutes to finally get a cup of coffee. Then there was no real cream for coffee. Only gross non dairy creamer. No one looks you in the eye. Theyre all too busy to engage any customers. We will go somewhere else next time.

The view makes it worthwhile. Had dinner with my girlfriend. Food was good, not exceptional, cocktail was just right, not watered down. Service was very polite, friendly and attentive, perhaps a tad slow. Price was perhaps 10% higher than I would expect. If you want the best seafood or value, there are many others in Charleston, but we will go back for lunch one day when the skies are blue.

The view was amazing....theres a lot of great restaurants with waterway views but I have never seen the lowcountry marsh from a birds eye view cloaked with the cotton candy sky while the sun set. Dinner was good...nothing out of this world out of the ordinary, but the view....did I mention the view!

Went for the breakfast buffet, $10 dollars and the eggs were cooked to a soft but crisp consistency and the rainbow of fruits were a nice quality. They also had pancakes, pastries, meats, yogurts and much more. The waitresses were very kind. Beautiful view.

Very beautiful view, you could come and have couple of drinks, but do not eat here! We have had very bad experience with the food, especially meat and veggies

I have called room service twice and after being asked to hold. The phone was paid down, not out on hold and hung up 30 seconds later.
