These guys couldnt care less about earning repeat, loyal customers. This was unfortunately our first and LAST visit to East Bay Deli. First off, the food is mediocre at best. I ordered the buffalo chicken wrap...and did not expect that by "buffalo chicken," they meant cold, sliced deli meat - not the warm, sliced chicken breast like virtually EVERY other buffalo chix wrap Ive ever had (besides fried tenders/nuggets). Yuk. The cheddar broccoli soup was literally a solid. Enough said. Poor food quality and descriptions aside, the customer service at this place does not focus on actually pleasing the customer. When they brought our food out, the server said that they were out of cookies, so the kids meal for my 2 year old would not receive one. Of course, this girl must have had no children because my daughter heard the "C" word and immediately started asking for one. I asked if they could sub for something else (such as the cookies in clear view on the counter). Her response was "Sorry, I wish"and she walked away. Hmm...so after our meh meal, I gave them a chance to redeem themselves and asked who I guessed was a manager for a substitution to the cookies they were "out of." She started yammering on about "Sysco missing a delivery" or whatever and ultimately was not willing to give my kid one of the "other cookies!" Man, those kids meal cookies must have really been the cheap stuff if they cant swap for another type of cookie or the many cakes and dessert options right in front of my face at the counter. The moral of this story: Practice some customer service if you expect people to come back and spend money with you. We will not be back and hope an owner of this establishment has a long talk with his staff on the basics of serving customers.

The service here at East Bay Deli in West Ashley was horrible. They lack in customer service as well. We placed our order ( french toast and hash browns with cheese) at 11 am, and there was no problem placing the order at first but I did ask how long for delivery and she said 30 minutes. The cashier then called back 15 minutes later and told us that meat and eggs came with the order but we verified that we were still getting our hash browns twice and she said ok. We didnt get our order until 12:05. We immediately checked our order but the delivery driver had already left and we noticed that we had not gotten our hash browns. So we called back and the cashier who answered had an attitude and put us on hold for 5 minutes then the manager Delani got on the phone, I told her the issue and she tried to charge us again for hash browns. I told her that the person who took our order already charged us for it and called back and we told her again twice what we wanted and the manager then got an attitude with us and told us that we were wrong and that she would charge us after we had already paid for exactly what we wanted which was even displayed on their online menu, although we ordered over the phone..... We never got our hashbrowns and the food was cold. They did not seem to care about customer service or pleasing their customers. However we will not be eating from this disgusting, unprofessional establishment again.

Wasnt thrilled that I had to eat my food out of a to go box because the cashier assumed my food was to go without asking. Luckily, I caught onto the fact that she didnt hand me a number and since I was sitting outside, I decided to wait by the pick up area. I also disliked the fact that my hot food sat in a box for at least 10 minutes because the expo was too lazy to bag it up and hand it to me; instead she put the boxes to the side and a food runner finally got the sense to bag it up and hand it to me. It was a busy day, maybe on a slower day the service would be better. The food was okay; the portabella wrap didnt have much flavor and the chicken caesar wrap was dry and needed more dressing.

So I ordered a chili dog without slaw and pickle spears and a sweet tea. When my food was finally delivered, I received hot tea with no ice what so ever and a cold hot dog with slaw. The receipt clearly says no slaw. Had the cooks paid attention to the receipt, I would have gave 5 stars. It had already taken an hour for the food to get to me and I didnt want to wait another hour for them to remake my order. So best thing to do is scrape the slaw off, heat up my hot dog, and put ice in my sweet tea. Including a tip I paid $17 for this though. Thanks to the cook that prepared my food. The young lady that I spoke with as well as the delivery driver was very polite and professional.

Terrible. I placed a to go order in person at the register. Waited almost 20 min and was then asked what I was waiting for by a very rude, eyebrow pierced short haired blonde that looked irritated at me standing there. After a snippy comment about how the printers werent working and she was having them make it now I mentioned some sort of an apology would have been nice, she responded with a rude snippy response about how she was going to. Im still waiting for the apology and for her to enjoy her job. If shes working I would turn around and walk out of this location. Sad when people in service dont serve customers the same way they would like to be served. I

This disaster does not belong in Avondale. Decided to give them a chance last week. Menu is overwhelming and shows lack of focus. Asked for recommendations; servers highly recommended the reuben and baked potato so I ordered them. The reuben was unspectacular and expensive (Parson Jacks is 100x better), and the baked potato was clearly reheated (it had a crust under the skin!). After bringing the potato situation to the attention of the establishment, I was told that this is common practice for them.

Food was ok. Locals have said this place was better years ago and gave you larger portion sizes. I could definitely see that. They boast about being the best deli in Charleston and at 5$ hot dogs and 9$ sandwiches I doubt it. Their food was ok and you basically serve yourself. No hype here. Average deli at best. Expected more when I moved down here. You can eat here but youre not going to be blown away. I hade the citadel club it was ok. Nothing to rave about. Decent deli but overpriced.

I dont understand why someone would complain about the food here, My wife and myself spent a week in Charleston and East Bay Deli was by far the best deli in Charleston, We loved the food and the service, This place is the best, We even stopped at the Folly beach location and it was great too! and the price of the menu was a lot better than most of the low end fast food joints, So if you are looking for a better chose for a Deli this is the place !!!

Stopped by here for lunch and it was surprisingly good. Clean restrooms albeit not enough. Ended up having a chicken caesar wrap which was good, plenty of chicken just a tad too salty. Managed to get a coupon off a guy giving them away on the street which made the deal that bit sweeter. Busy vibe so not a place where you can sit and talk comfortably but would eat here again. Pretty wide range in menu.
