Ive not spent time in China, so I cant comment if this food is a reflection of what youd find in that country. However, I lived for years in northern Thailand, which has a large population of southern Chinese immigrants. The food from Ocean View was about the same as Ive eaten at Chinese-owned venues in Thailand, which is excellent. Theres a perfect balance of flavors to the sauces (which are just the right consistency), the meat and seafood are cooked exactly right and the produce is clearly very fresh. I highly recommend the food, which comes in extra-generous-sized portions. But, the night I ordered the chef was acting like a prima dona and the hostess was rude repeatedly, to the point of being just plain contentious. Also, they didnt answer their phone and werent open when they advertised and even though I called ahead 45 minutes, my takeout food wasnt ready until 15 minutes after the agreed upon time (they dont tell you how long it will take but instead ask you when you want it ready. After some back and forth, they agreed to have the food ready in 45 minutes). They dont accept credit cards. Its quite expensive. So, if you have a lot of patience and arent sensitive to being treated like theyre doing you a favor allowing you in the door, you may be very happy with the food at Ocean View. Its unfortunate that this quality of Chinese food, which is widely available from friendly, prompt vendors in other parts of the world, comes with the price tag of severe aggravation in South County.

I called and tried to order the Oceanview fried rice he said we have vegetable and shrimp fried rice the only other things that were in the ocean view fried rice with chicken and pork youre telling me that the place doesnt have any chicken and pork and then he says maybe you should try somewhere else and hangs up the phone I called back and said did you just hang up the phone on me when I was trying to make an order no answer I said hello are you there and then he hung up the phone again on me absolutely shocked by the horrible service and this was a place I just wanted to try for somewhere new never getting my business again !

This is an AMAZING Resturant. There is a wait for your food, but it is SO very worth it, a BYOB fresh made for you Chinese food Resturant. No combination plates, but food so fresh and truly so SO delicious. Give them a try (definitely bring your favorite drink) and you wont rerget it. I promise you.

The food was good but there were a lot of things that were on the menu but not available and there was only the cook no wait staff or hostess the person i was with said it felt like we were in the twilight zone.
