My husband, son and I tried Metro for the first time this weekend (1/29/17 around 1-1:30). Intrigued by the positive feedback we heard from friends, we decided to give it a try. The pros--The hostess was very friendly. The server was happy to put my sons order in right away while my husband and I looked over the menu (no one likes a hungry cranky toddler!), which we appreciated. Everyone elses dishes around us looked delicious. The portions are huge and for the price, you get a lot of food. The server can swipe your card on a tablet so you dont have to wait to pay for your check. I liked that it was so quick to check out. Unfortunately, that is where my positive feedback stops. Cons--When we were seated, there was still tip money and syrup on the table from the previous customer. The hostess removed the servers tip as he had yet to pick it up, but left the syrup there. And, I wasnt happy that they didnt think to wipe the table down were the money and syrup had been sitting, especially because that is where they placed the highchair for our son to eat. I wiped it down with a baby wipe. The fries looked and tasted as if they were either double dipped or cooked in old oil (same for the home fries). You know that dark, over cooked, burnt tasting experience? The Greek vinaigrette tasted completely like oil, hardly any flavor to it at all. I ordered minodore or minacore (something like that word) clam chowder. It was supposed to be like a spicy Manhattan clam chowder. It was the worst soup I ever had. It had bacon in it that tasted burnt. I am the type of person that believes everything is better with bacon... not. Also, the clams were over cooked, having the texture of hard rubber that broke apart in my mouth. There was no spice to it at all, instead reminding me of bland, plain stewed tomatoes that came out of the can. Neither my husband nor I could finish any of our dishes because nothing was appetizing. While you get a lot of food for the money, it was not money worth spent because we couldnt eat any of it--$35 is a lot to spend at a diner for two adults and a toddler. We are not the type of people to ask to send stuff back, or take stuff off a check. So, to be fair, we did not bring any of our issues to the establishments attention and I have no idea how management would have handled the situation. They may have refunded everything, made new food, etc... We didnt give them the chance to find out.

First time here.. Our waitress was extremely short with us, she didnt even greet us before barking, "drinks?!". We waited at least 25 minutes for an omelette and a fried fish sandwich. Normally I dont mind waiting that long, but the manager and other staff were just standing around in the expo area while the cooks meandered around, with absolutely NO sense of urgency. While we were waiting, I watched the POS screen at the expo station start to fill completely with orders but no one seemed to care. When we got our food, her deep fried tilapia sandwich was so oversalted, you couldnt taste anything else and there was no moisture from any dressings to combat the dry fish (why would you deep fry tilapia, its such a firm fish?). My veggie omelette was (and Im not kidding here), the worst attempt at an omelette I have ever seen in my life. The egg was cooked separately and tasted like that gross premixed egg you can buy for cheap from food suppliers. The vegetables were precooked and in huge, totally unseasoned chunks that they obviously just spooned onto the egg from a hot well. Needless to say, we could barely even eat the garbage. I absolutely love vegetables, but I ended up only eating part of the egg because I was famished and needed some protein. All I can say is that if this is how all Metro Diners do it, Guy Fieri needs to learn more about food.

We had breakfast twice on a Saturday morning. Each visit we were seated quickly but we had to wait for a server. People who sat after us were waited on sooner. Our first visit on 2/11/17 the waitress was friendly and our food was terrific. The hazelnut coffee was especially wonderful and the portions were bigger than expected. The second visit on 2/18/17 was a disappointing experience. No one waited on us again. We had to ask for someone. When a waitress came she was not friendly. And continued to be inattentive. We had to seek her out and ask for coffee refills. Food was not as ordered. Sausage gravy was cold. My eggs were cold. The experience tainted our interest in the place.

Today was my first trip to Metro Diner and what an amazing experience it was! If i could give them 10 stars, I would! The food was excellent but what really made the experience so great was the service. Our waitress was Amy S. She is an absolute sweetheart and I highly recommend requesting her for your trip to Metro Diner! The manager, Jeremy "Mack", is a veteran and not only is constantly making his rounds to help the staff with dishes and etc. tasks but is also checking in with customers to ensure their experience was a positive one. You dont find this kind of service anymore so I highly recommend anyone reading this to go to Metro Diner for some awesome food and amazing service!!

my meal was good but my sister ordered the fried chicken and it was raw. the manager did check on us and have the kitchen make her something else she ordered a burger but they still charged for the burger and offered no coupons or discounts. working in restaurant industry as long as i have when you serve someone raw food you do more than just take it and bring em something else. raw food can make people very sick and i dont feel they took this issue as seriously as needed.

I really enjoyed this place. We went when it was less, busy which is just my style. Every entree was super delicious especially the corned beef hash! Our waitress was very nice and the manager on duty was also very nice. He welcomed every table and checked on every table. I have a food establishment myself so I am a stickler on cleanliness. The open kitchen was clean and shiny. Floors were clean along with tables. We will be back!

Im here at metro diner now with my companion and I am not impressed. My boyfriends egg omelette looked like space food, as if they were cooked in the microwave. I ordered the mahi mahi sandwich (fried) and the batter was incredibly salty I had to take it back. The coleslaw is blan, im not even going to attempt to try it. It The only thing I enjoyed was the soup. Also the server was pleasent, no complaints about her.

Finally !! A really great place to eat in the West York area. OMG what a superb breakfast. The specials included "The Works" pancake which was as big as a steering wheel (no kidding) My sausage gravy over biscuits with home fries was waaaaaaay more than I could eat, so I took some home for another meal. What you may think at first, is a pricey meal, you get totally astounded by the quality and quantity. TRULY
