Masa…what can I say? – This is a solid Sushi place. York can be a difficult place for food diversity – but that is changing. First off, this is York Pa – not New York – or Philadelphia. The food offered here is good for York – not what you would come to expect in a major metropolitan area. The menu is large – too large, it is cumbersome and hard to understand, menu items are all over the place. If you are fussy or uncertain of items, it may take a visit or two before you can grasp everything on the menu – it might be helpful to look it over in advance, you can find it on their Facebook page. There is a bar – they make decent drinks, not awesome drinks – but decent cocktails. They have a decent selection of Sake as well - bottled beer only. I am hard pressed to think of nary a single sushi bar in the entire Harrisburg metro area that serves alcohol; York has 2 within a mile of each other – go figure. Masa has a huge assortment of cooked and raw rolls and sushi of every shape and form. They have teriyaki, hibachi, soba, ramen – udon, bento and more! Me – I typically enjoy sushi nigari…and preferably sashimi. Just the fish. The quality here seems very good – the fish portions are very large…very large, I can barely fit one piece of sashimi in my mouth they are so huge – the sushi nigari is equally as large! I take my girlfriend and her kids here and they are really new to the experience – they seem to like it, we keep coming back. You will find rolls with a lot of asparagus, cucumber, mango, avocado with lots of other interesting ingredients – mostly the sushi rolls here are Americanized though. Personally, I would like to see something more spicy with new and special rolls and creations that they innovate and change periodically – but that’s just me. York Pa – sushi, cocktails – solid…nuff said

I lived in Japan for a year. Japanese food is my favorite food and I eat at Japanese restaurants often and cook some Japanese food like kare rice. I have been eating Japanese food frequently for over 25 years. The menu at Masa has a bad selection as though they have no real Japanese cooks on staff. I suspect their cooks are not Japanese but Mexican or Chinese or somebody else who does not know how to make Japanese food. Their sushi chef might be Japanese (I dont remember because I didnt have sushi there) but I am 90% certain the cooks are not from the menu and the food I had. I tried their sukiyaki and it was nearly inedible. I didnt eat much of it. The meat was tough and in large pieces. Sukiyaki meat is supposed to be extremely tender and finely sliced. Also, they served me mostly broth with almost none of the glassy noodles. The mushrooms tasted off somehow as though they were very old (previously dried type). Also, the broth did not have any sweet taste at all. Sukiyaki is supposed to be a little sweet. Whoever cooked it cannot be Japanese and does not know what they are doing. And they charged me a lot! Why is the Asian food in York so bad!!!!

Will never go back. During lunch special hours, which is the only time you should ever go because the prices are too high for the quality of food, I ordered 4 orders of rolls. Which should of been half price, they took the reciept off my bag which i thought was strange but didnt think much of it. I realized when I got home why. I was overcharged and did not recieve my salads. Upon arriving at home I called and asked why I didnt get the lunch time price and no salads, he said because I didnt asked specifically for lunch time price on the order, which makes no sense. I then said, so you charged me more for less food and took advantage of me even though Ive ordered the same way, the same fasion, since its been open. He laughed was rude and said Correct sir. I told him I wanted my salad and they could keep the overcharge, and he said yes but Id have to pay for the salad they OWED ME. I told him Ill never eat there again, besides there is multiple japanese resturants in the area close by which Ive discovered tastes better and has cheaper prices, and the help treats customers like customers, not like people they are ripping off.

After reading all of the glowing reviews on Masa I decided to try it today. I typically frequent Fujihana for sushi when Im in the York area, but decided to give Masa a try. I ordered the sushi and sashimi platter along with an eel avacado roll and a tuna roll, my lunch also came with miso soup and a salad. The salad was ok, but the dressing was a little bit more bitter than Im used to with ginger dressing, the miso soup was actually pretty good (better than most places). My sushi and sashimi was pretty good, it was apparent that the quality of fish used was very high. The eel avacodo roll was one of the better ones Ive ever had, it wasnt mushy like most other places make it. Overall this was a good dining experience, the service was very good and all of the employees were very polite. One downside of this place is the bathroom, that thing was hideous!! In my opinion, Masa isnt quite up to the quality of Fujihana but its a decent alternative in the area.

Let me save you some time reading and tell you just to go to Ocean San Sushi on Queen St. All the rolls here taste eerily similar and it was just ok. This place can get by because it is York county and expectations arent so high here. The service was splendidly horrible. The waitress forgot one of our rolls, which wasnt so bad. What killed it for me, was apparently, the server put the wrong price of two of the rolls on the bill and after we paid and went to our vehicle, she chased us down. She made it sound like we were stealing from the place and we had to go back in to rectify THEIR mistake. I wouldnt have minded if it wasnt presented like we were in the wrong. I wont be going back for subpar food and Robert Irving himself couldnt convince me to give this place another try.

I placed an order today. Upon returning home I noticed that there was a mistake with my order. I called back to inform them of the mistake. The woman who answered was very rude. She told me she didnt have time to talk about it because she had to close the bar and to speak with someone about it tomorrow. I believe its more important to at least come to a conclusion than to close the bar up that very moment. I almost didnt believe it considering Ive been going there with my family for a very long time. The main reason I am commenting about the situation is the fact that while I was beginning to say coming in tomorrow would be alright, she actually hung the phone up on me while I was in the middle of speaking. Not happy at all.

This is one of my favorite places to go for sushi, and Ive tried every place open in York thus far. The menu is extensive, so its sometimes hard to choose, but they have it broken up in to sections and have great deals on getting two or three rolls from a section for a set price. I love that the deals are all the time, not just a lunch special like most places. The fish tastes fresh, the spicy rolls have a good kick but arent super spicy if thats your thing. I keep going back here because its good quality food with great prices, and they are always quick and friendly with their service.
