I know restaurants can get busy on a Saturday night, especially Sapporo East. We had a larger (10+ people) party, had called ahead for seating, we were assured that a table would be ready at a certain time (they do not take reservations, per se). Everyone in our group brought their own alcohol, wine, beer whatever it was. We waited and waited and waited.... They didnt combine any tables to accommodate our group (though they easily could have), after about 45 minutes we even asked to be seated separately. At this point they had seated everyone else who came in after us, about 12 - 15 people. Basically they kept telling us to wait till another group (that was celebrating a birthday party) had left. For the next thirty five minutes they kept telling us "that table will be open soon, they are leaving" despite the fact that there people pouring glasses of wine and chit chatting but not eating any food. My pregnant wife had a seat at the sushi bar after standing an hour+, and after 2 minutes the waitress came over and said she needed the seat my wife was sitting in. ARE YOU KIDDING ME SAPPORO EAST!? you cant sit us, now you want my pregnant wifes chair!? Finally having had enough our party left, as we were leaving the waitress kept begging us to wait, saying that the other table would be open soon HAHAHA! In summary I was prepared to wait, but the staff was rude & made no attempt to accommodate our party.

Eh, So So. My husband and I go out to eat a lot, and Sushi is probably our favorite. We ordered the TNT, Sapporo, Rainbow and Jungle rolls. The rolls separated and fell apart easily. By far not the best sushi Ive ever had. If you like Sushi go to the Asian Bistro on Union Deposit Rd. on Sunday for half price, youll receive better service as well. The waitress left after bringing our sushi without saying anything, just stared at us on the way out the door. We had to flag someone over to take our dinner order and there were only two other tables seated at 2:30 on a Saturday, not busy at all. Dont get me started on BYOB either. I cant understand this concept and never will. The portions were generous and we both asked for a take home box, but now I will be reminded while eating my left-overs why I will never return, if I dont just pass it off to my children.

Sapporo East – what can I say. It is a cute place, small, cozy and what you would typically want in a simple Japanese sushi place. There is not a good selection of great Japanese restaurant’s in all of Central Pa. Sapporo East has to certainly be amongst the best of them. Compared to New York or Philly – they really don’t rate, but for Central Pa they are about the best you will get. The menu hasn’t changed in a while and is a little stale in my opinion – and I think they need to source some new sushi/sashimi fish options. However the quality is always very good and the service is excellent. Since it is SO small it is often packed and parking can sometimes be an issue. I do like it here and I do come often and have been for years. – it’s the best place in town.

Nestled back in from the road with stunning hospitality, warm atmosphere, amazing sushi, what more could you ask for? I stumbled upon Sapporo East by chance and I am still raving about how great my experience was. The waiters are very friendly and helpful, the chiefs follow suit with kind smiles and fair wells as you reluctantly walk out the door. The food is amazing, and when I say amazing I mean it. I can truthfully say Sapporo East has served the best sushi Ive come across. And I will definitely be back for more!

Great Sushi! Sapporo East is a tiny place, but the atmosphere is great, even on a busy Friday evening. Id highly recommend the seared tuna special appetizer. The combination of cajun seared tuna with crab, mango and wasabi sauce is incredible. The fish was very fresh and the portions were extremely generous. If I had to fault them in any way, I think they would do well to make their rolls a bit smaller -- some may find them hard to eat in one bite. Overall, good sushi for almost anywhere -- amazing sushi for central PA.

Seriously AMAZING! Best thing I tried was the tuna tataki, seared and perfectly seasoned, if you love your raw fish like I do this place is great! I do not believe they serve drinks with liquor or beer, I think its a BYOB place, but call ahead. This is nice if you are looking to save a little, as the prices arent cheap, but well worth a nice date with someone special. Clean, nice decor, very busy, hard working staff. Good portions on the soup!

Very cool place to eat and hang out. Reasonable prices delicious food. Very clean and well run. The owners actually care about the quality and service. Nice decor. My only complaint is that the sushi I ordered was served at room temperature which made me nervous. The tempora is outstanding great presentation and the fish soup is out of this world.

This place used to be decent...the service was never anything to write home about but it was tolerable. Yet, in the last few months I have had consistently bad sushi. The fish is just not fresh and leaves a bad, queasy feeling that makes this sushi lover unhappy :( I would rather drive the 25 minutes to Mt. Fuji in Carlisle than go here anymore.

Pleasant staff, cute interior but I had to ask 3 times for a fork. My sons sushi/sashimi combo was wonderful with nice presentation but my Teriyaki steak (?) and shrimp was only mediocre. No plates were cleared from the table. Server was biting his nails as we left....I wonder if he washed his hands.

Excellent service and sushi. Small place but with a great atmosphere; portions were generous. I wish I wasnt just here on business so I could come back. Byob is interesting I wish i had thought of bringing in some Yuenglings to enjoy with my meal. Would absolutely recommend this place.

Absolutely phenomenal food as well as service. Didnt wait at all to be seated& got our food within 15 minutes of sitting down. Awesome atmosphere and delicious sushi. Seafood fried rice was to die for. Super friendly staff. Best place to go within 30 miles without a doubt!

It was a cute little place, ate there with my sister. We had 2 rolls (the sapporo, and the caribbean). They were both delicious. I dont like fish, but the salmon in the sapporo roll didnt have thay "fishy" smell, and was seriously so good. Cant wait to visit there again!!

Great atmosphere, friendly staff, and the food was delicious. Only downsides I would say were the music was very loud where they sat us in the corner. The sushi rolls were not as big as we would have liked for the price but everything was still delicious!

We love coming here. The place is small though, so getting a table might be a wait. The parking lot is tight too. But the sushi is perfect, the staff is great. I like the ambience. Perfect date spot. Hard to find from the road though.
