I have eaten in and twice catered using Keystone. The in house experience is solid if you like stick to your ribs cooking and want to stuff your face which I did that day. The food was hot, relatively tasty, and the selection kept me going up for more. Even though canned ingredients seemed to be everywhere, I admittedly wanted more and more but I also rarely go out to eat so that may be why I ate so much. It was a decent meal though and the server was timely and polite. The catering experience was okay the first time. Lots of food, prepared promptly for pickup, and so on. All parties liked the meal enough to warrant catering through Keystone again. The second meal, however, lacked flavor overall and seemed overpriced. The beef had an off taste after being stored properly in the fridge. The gravy was strangely too gelatinous to the point of having an odd mouth feel. The roasted vegetables were a joke...yellow squash, carrots, yellow peppers, and onions. The squash and carrots worked but they were cut into large coin shapes. Too large. Also, there were too many peppers and way too many onions both sliced into rings. In my world, roasted vegetables are cut into like sizes for cooking and presentation purposes or in this context, ease of eating. I will not bother to mention the many vegetable choices that would have made sense over so many peppers and onions. Overall, the meal was a bust and I do not think Keystone will be on the menu in the future.

Good at first,,,but so typical of buffets to lure you in and then jack the price up and give you poor quality food....Visited weekly before this final trip. Paid $13.25 per person for buffet this Sunday 4/19/2015. I always go here looking for the roast beef, usually done well but is normally pull apart and tender. This was like beef jerky instead. Very disappointed. THen tried the turkey,,,it was really dryed out..So what i got for my money was an expensive chicken dinner.. I told the owner that it was bad...he said he hadnt gotten any other complaints(hard to believe). I said sometimes people eat it and are disappointed in quality and dont say anything about it,,,,but they just dont come back again..EVER...He said there is nothing he could do to adjust my bill,,,knowing that we come there weekly and that he knows he is serving crap!!! I am very irritated by his attitude for sure...GO SOMEWHERE ELSE TO EAT ...even a good 4pc.broasted chicken dinner at another restaurant would only cost you ..$9.00 per person...RIPPED OFF>

The building, the store, the staff all fantastic and warm. Home style country food. I was surprised to see tater tots instead of home fries. No grits or biscuits and gravy. No country ham. The slade bar and pie areas were visible and had paper signs taped up telling breakfast customers they were for lunch and dinner only. More prep food for lunch and dinner than hot food for breakfast. Unfortunately that you can do so much right and the 1 thing thats average or below is the food. The buffet had lids you couldnt see through on everything which kept it hot but holy $%@ hot! Customers were all shaking off steam burns from trying to get to the food and they put the tongs on top at both ends so when you lift your side you get burned and spill utensils onto the floor. Really like this place but the food part is still lacking... which is what we are there for.

After reading numerous poor reviews, I was a little hesitant to use Keystone Family restaurant for my tour group. What a very pleasant surprise. The food was good, the service was even better, and the manager catered to our every need. We are a group of retired school employees from Central PA, and we try to make the food a part of every travel experience. My group prefers good solid home country cooking, and that is exactly what they got. Plenty of vegetables, cooked well but not mushy; very tasty well-seasoned, and well-done fried Chicken. Even hog maw, a country specialty. And dont even start me on the deserts - they had every pie imaginable. Double and triple kudos.

Went up for breakfast buffet on mothers day but they decided to change their buffet schedule just for mothers day. That sucks but ok so we ordered off the menu biscuits and gravy with home fries. It took about 30 minutes for for the biscuits and gravy and we received hash browns not home fries. The buscuits and gravy were barely warm and the hash were to hot to eat. We were told it took so long because of a "big order" that was ahead of use. When we pulled in there were only about 8 cars in the parking lot. So i believe they put us behind setting up for the lunch buffet.

I love this place for the fried chicken, and homemade yeast rolls.. Yum. We usually get the meals from the menu, but ,have also gotten the buffet, which is very reasonable and they have SO much! There are a variety of meats, fish, chicken, and vegetables, hot homemade rolls and real butter.. delicious pies, cakes , puddings and icecreams. Sodas, milk, juices and delicious Iced teas available for your drink choices. The waitresses and staff are real friendly, too. Pleasant atmosphere.and great prices. You just cant go wrong ,here.. And,you wont go away hungry.. :)

This restaurant is sister to Mountain Gate Family Restaurant in Thurmont, Maryland. Keystone is the smaller of the two but both feature a large buffet that most people order; its Pa Dutch cooking, all homemade. Ive heard many say these restaurants serve the best fried chicken in the area. They also house make almost all their foods, including dessert. A menu is also available. Staff is very kind, caring, and thoughtful.

So disappointed, should have walked out right after seeing the menu. $1.00 extra for cheese, $1.75 to share, $ to take out an item, $2.35 for fries for a sandwich dish that already costs over $6, and only one free refill on certain drinks... This menu is absurd and is enough to piss me off. Not only that, but the food was extremely bland and the service was slow. Not pleased and will never return

The male waitresses harassed my girlfriend. She felt very uncomfortable getting food and barely ate any. She shouldnt have to feel harassed when she is trying to eat. I believe that if you have a job you should keep a certain integrity while on the job. But staring at a 15 year old girl while she is getting food is disgusting when you are on the job and 19 years old. The food was good tho.

This place was terrible. Absolutely no gluten free options. It wasnt very busy and it took them about 40 minutes to cook a plain chicken breast that came out overdone and under seasoned. The whole restaurant felt dirty and employees werent attentive nor friendly. Definitely will not be returning.

The waitresses are kind and attentive, but the cooks and the food are despicable. This food tastes worse than cheap processed groceries. The desserts all tasted rubbery and the entrées were not worth the $13 buffet price. All on top of the flies. Yuck. Go to Mountain Gate.

Awesome experience! Warm friendly atmosphere. The waitresses are super nice and they aim to make their customers smile. If youre looking for a hot home-cooked style meal then this is the place to be. Very affordable with a large variety of food and desserts to choose from.
