Good food, a little pricey. Lunch specials help a little bit with that, bringing the price down on most dishes to 8-12 dollars, which generally include a choice of soup/eggroll and steamed/brown/fried rice. Keep in mind, items such as Pad Thai (which is great and plenty by itself) and sushi do not get those extras. Speaking of sushi, it is decent, but prices for those range from 5 to 20 for one roll so it can get quite expensive. Of course, if youre a big sushi fan, youre probably used to those kinds of prices. Fyi, spicy salmon/tuna/butterfish is 6 if you like those, and the sweet potato roll is surprisingly great. Service is generally good, the waiters are nice and check on you relatively frequently--when its not too busy, at least. Not sure how it goes when the place is packed. The restaurant itself is clean and is quite cozy with a dark color scheme and some nice mood lighting. Some of the tables are next to the large windows overlooking the parking lot (if I remember correctly), and although its not the prettiest view, its still a decent plus to have. It also opens up the restaurant a little bit and lets it breathe, if that makes any sense. Overall, its a nice place to go to if you want a slightly higher end Asian restaurant than whats usually the standard. Good place for a casual date or a somewhat important but not too important occasion (e.g. familys in town).

Worst service I (never) received in a restaurant in my life. On Saturday April 26 we went to the Sesame Inn North Hills (711 Brown’s Lane). We were seated promptly upon arrival with no wait. The restaurant was about three quarters full. The greeter/seater delivered the menus then noticed that my wife’s water glass was dirty and immediately brought her a clean one. She then did the same thing for mine. Five minutes later, nothing. Table next to us seated. Ten minutes, nothing. Fifteen minutes, nothing. Table next to us ordered their food. Twenty minutes, nothing. I went up to the front of the restaurant and spoke with the greeter and she went off to tell our waitress. Five minutes more, no waiter/waitress. We stood up and left. I stopped at the front/take-out desk and informed them of what had happened. They acknowledged that it was not right, but never even attempted to apologize. The worst part? For almost a decade we loved the SI in Station Square. We haven’t eaten at a SI since we moved a decade ago. We were in Pgh. for a wedding and drove 25 minutes out of our way just to go to Sesame Inn. We will never go back.

Best Chinese in the area! We did a comparison of all the places nearby over a couple months and found Sesame Inn to have the most flavorful and consistent food (for the dishes we like to get at least). The pork fried rice is delicious and is so flavorful we actually started mixing in some of the free white rice they give just to stretch out the leftovers. Their General Tsos chicken also is very flavorful and the Amazing Chicken is a tasty, slightly sweeter variation of the same idea. Another thing that we like is their sweet and sour sauce, its got just the right taste. Note: they do pour the sweet and sour sauce on the meat when delivering, so you make sure to explicitly ask for it on the side if that bothers you. Their beef lo mein is good, but its not anything special (every place we tried had good lo mein). The only complaint I have is that their pricing is a bit higher than other places nearby. I would take off a star, but they definitely have the best food and give good serving sizes so you get what you pay for.

Sesame Inn is my favorite Chinese food in Pittsburgh. I have mostly been to the one in the North Hills and I can say that it has a nice atmosphere and friendly staff. The prices have went up a little over the years (inflation) but are on par with a nice place that isnt in a shopping plaza etc. Actually, they could be the same price as some places in shopping plazas, so not too bad. Lunch still comes with an egg roll or soup and their egg rolls are some of the best Ive ever had. They also have soup dumplings now if youre into that...so good, and makes for a great ap! Even during peak times they fill up but Ive never had to wait more than 10 minutes for a table which is great. If I could pick one thing Id change it would be that they add an outdoor seating area but that might be hard to do with their location.

Ive been eating at sesame inn forever! Ive been very please however the past few times I visited the sauces tasted very sugary and watered down? Also the Egg Rolls arent crispy when you get take out. Im still rating this place 5 stars because I usually get the lunch special and understand things might get busy or whatever. Anytime Ive gone to dinner here I get HUGE portions and everything is fresh. My main concern is the change in the sauces. Especially the Amazing Chicken. (take this as a constructive comment not a bad one) Im not sure what changed but I hope my next experience is better! Its hard to stop going to your fav spot to eat.

Absolutely amazing food. This place has been here since I was a kid in grade school and it still is delicious. The number one thing on my list is the amazing chicken without spice. If you go during lunch you can save yourself some cash with the lunch specials, you get the same amount of food as the dinners, just cheaper. Its definitely worth the trip and I havent found any Chinese food better elsewhere. It truly a beautiful interior, robust with umbrellas on the ceiling and lights for the mood. This place is the best Chinese North of Pittsburgh.

Ive eaten here and been pleased however the last time was not one of those cases. Number one tip do not get the crispy duck. The description says pre-seasoned, marinated and steamed, then fried until crisp. It was more like seasoned, steamed until no water is left in the duck and then put in a fryer to insure that the only thing good is the skin. Luckily our second dish the sesame chicken was good however it lacked the fried bean noodle garnish as described on the menu so that left just a bunch of chicken on a plate. Luckily th

Sesame Inn is my and my wifes favorite Chinese restaurant in Pittsburgh. Were about 45 minutes from this location, but we make the drive every so often when we want EXCELLENT Chinese food. The quality of the food is unmatched. The diverse menu is full of great and unique dishes (any of the poultry choices are outstanding) and its rare to find ANY fat on any of the food - an annoyance at so many lesser-quality Chinese restaurants. The staff is polite and professional. Highly recommended.

What a gem! I have a client down the street. He suggested Sesame for lunch and said, "Its the best." And he said it with a lot of enthusiasm. I thought . . . well, well see. Im from NYC. It was/is off the hook. Excellent sushi. Lunch special was more than I could eat and just $11. Great service. Very nice and comfy inside. Client was right
