Arrived here with family at 4:25pm on a Monday. Despite advertising an opening time of 4:00pm, this place doesnt actually start seating until 5:00pm. The host suggested that we sit at the tiny (and completely full) bar area in the front of the house. There is really no waiting area to speak of (heck, there is barely room to walk through the crowded entryway!) I suggested to the host that they correct their hours to reflect when they actually start seating and serving people, which was met with a condescending, "Thank you," after which he promptly just turned around and walked away. I HIGHLY recommend AVOIDING this place. This left me in a terribly awkward social situation amongst family, and it would not have killed the house to seat us (in spite of their misleading hours). Terrible experience. Rude establishment. Simply mismanaged. Unfortunate 0 stars is not an option.

We hosted my sisters bridal shower here on September 21st & it was such an awesome experience! We had booked La Calaca Feliz online due to us living in NYC....we are SO HAPPY we found this place! The staff was very attentive & went above & beyond what we ever expected. Zach (the manager) & Sam (our awesome waitress) were truly a pleasure! The food was phenomenal! We had so much fun with our fake mustaches & sombreros....if you are looking to throw a fiesta, this is the spot! We cant wait to go back to La Calaca Feliz the next time we visit Philly!

We hosted our daughter’s graduation dinner at La Calaca Feliz. The management was very accommodating, the pricing was reasonable, the advance planning was well executed, the food and drink were excellent and plentiful, and the service was very personal and pleasant. All of our guests had a great time there, as did we. Thank you to Zachary Bourne and his staff for a delightful evening.

Great spot for group dinners - just dont fall into the trap of ordering too little because one persons order. Just tacos are not enough. Share plenty of small plates with the group or youll leave hangry. Order the margaritas as well as they are pretty generous. Atmosphere is more authentic than most Mexican restaurants and there is a nice small courtyard in the back.

Food was good, staff fairly knowledgeable of menu, prices not too high but food portions surprisingly small. Drinks undersized (glasses weighted), its really just a last option for the pocket, but decent option for the taste buds. I usually preach not going where you cannot afford but the issue of fairness should be universal. Sorry and thanks.

We call this place "Waka Flaka Calaca" for absolutely no reason, other than it sounding straight gangsta. The drink menu is amazing - if anything, I would go just for the margaritta menu. The food is upscale Mexican, but not TOO upscale. It fits perfectly in the neighborhood and is a great spot for a night out, or a drink after work.

This was the third time eating at La Calaca. Surprised by the negative attitude of waitress and poor decision to take off the Fried Chicken Tacos. Staff failed in customer service and refused to honor bar prices (same food item $4 cheaper at bar then restaurant). Disappointed this time, will try someplace new for Mexican cuisine.

High quality food and service but that comes with a price. Can get similar food with worst service all over the city. I enjoyed the special cocktail and my squash tacos. Some people will complain that entrees dont come with rice & beans but they make this very clear and I liked it as I rarely have room for either.

I went with friends after work on a Friday. We were able to get a table quickly, staff was on point, and service was great. Everyone loved their food, including the super tasty salsa and guac. We scraped the bowl clean! My drink was so so good, and the happy hour prices were great. I will for sure be going back!

I love that this place is in my neighborhood. Unique spin on Mexican food, a sort of fusion beyond the traditional. They have a fantastic happy hour. They have a nice courtyard for outside seating when the weather is nice. Wide selection of tequilas. Good service. Taco Tuesday is a pretty good deal too!

Tasty good tacos both chicken and shrimp. The chicken tortilla soup was also good and tasty but it would have been nice to have more than 4 little pieces of diced chicken in the soup. It is called Chicken Tortilla soup for a reason. Expensive, I dont think Ill return.

A bit on the pricy side for this type of cuisine, especially with so many other options in town - but, everything is amazingly delicious. Check this place out at least once as it is really good. Recommend getting a reservation on the weekend and it is a busy place.

Ive been visiting La Calaca Feliz since I was in college and that was a while back...sooo, Id say this place has mouth-watering, addicting carnitas tacos. Get them with everything and add guac...best thing youll ever do for yourself. Swear!

We were ate around 4pm so they had a limited menu but it was fantastic. The fish tacos and carnitas tacos were superb. Best thing were the nachos...possibly the best nachos I have ever eaten. We will definitely return for a full dinner menu.

Wow! This place is insane. The flavors are unimaginable. Every bite is like nothing else. How could they get so much flavor into each little morsel of food. Very low pricing in general, especially for the city.

Delicious food, outdoor seating. The cevice, the carnitas tacos and the chorizo fondue were delicious. The watermelon gazpacho not so much. I liked that they have Dos Equis Ambar on tab too. Service was great.

never found this place to live up to the very good reviews ive seen in other places. while the food is just above average, i dont think it justifies the high price. i recommend booking a reservation ahead of time.

Good, but not blow out great. If you have some extra cash to spend its nice, food is not stand out for the price point- with so many other tasty and authentic joints in PHL . Great service and atmosphere though!

Tried La Calaca for the first time today for brunch. The food, service, and environment were excellent. My friend and I both had the Chorizo Fundido, the Huevos Rancheros, and the sweet plantains. Delicious.

Great mexican restaurant. I had the chicken enchiladas and they were pretty awesome. Great environment. Also a good location about a block from the eastern state penitentiary.

Great food, looks like a tiny place from the outside but its actually quite large. Prices are a bit high but theyre the best option for mexican food in the area.

Nothing fancy but solid flavor combinations and great menu selections. Fresh, local ingredients makes this place special. The margaritas are fantastic.
