My party of four arrived promptly for our 7:45 reservation. By 8:45, we were tired of standing in the cramped front of the restaurant, waiting for our table. We left and went around the corner to Stella where we were seated promptly. After waiting for over ten minutes for someone to acknowledge us (the bartender and three different servers saw us standing there but ignored us), we had to flag down someone to tell them wed arrived. A few minutes later, someone came over and told us that our table wouldnt be ready till 8:15. By that point, wed already been there almost fifteen minutes, so what was another fifteen? Well, the fifteen came and went. A table of four that had gotten there AFTER us were seated. We heard them say that their reservation was at 8:00 (remember, ours was for 7:45). Meanwhile, an empty four-top with a "reserved" sign sat in front of us. They told us they couldnt seat us there because a party of 11 was coming in soon. The 11 didnt arrive the entire hour we sat there waiting, yet they wouldnt seat us there. Then, they looked at us again and said "Oh, there are only four of you? We thought there were eight of you. We couldve sat you at that other table" (where the 8:00 reservation sat down). For the next half hour, they checked up on us every five minutes. "Just a few more minutes," theyd say. But still we sat there. We finally asked to see the manager. The hostess disappeared in the back and never came back out, at least not for more than five minutes. By this time, wed been there for a full hour, so we left. Good riddance. Ive never seen such a level of inattention, miscommunication, and ineptitude. I will never, EVER return to this place. Its a joke.

Better than the food I had while touring Mexico. Absolutely fantastic. The quality of ingredients is obvious and when accompanied by expert preparation you are destined for an excellent dinner. During our visit, some menu items were not available. This does not disappoint me as it shows that every little item is fresh and there is turn over of groceries. There are so many incredible items on the menu that, if this should happen to you, your second choice is bound to be equally fantastic. The menu, dining experience, and prices are a step above your run of the mill chimichangas, tacos and quesadillas. The most complex tastes and flavors I have ever experienced with Mexican cuisine.

The service was exellent, and the atmosphere was even better. I started off with the Chalupitas Xochimilco. This was an excellent first course to start with. Very fresh and flavorful, but not too filling. For my main course, I had the Cochinita Pibil. I would not recommend this dish. Ive had this dish prepared many times, at many different places, and I can honestly say this was the most bland take on this dish I have ever tased. Overall though, I was impressed enough with everything else the restaurant offered, I will make a return appearance in the future.

Service is decent. They were very helpful. I had my stroller and six month old. They were really helpful is setting up a chair and finding a spot for his stroller off to the side. The guacamole was fresh, but didnt have a lot of flavor. The entree portions are quiet large. Chicken Verde enchilada was absolutely delicious. Great tart flavor and tasty chicken breast pieces. Would definitely come back just for another taste. Food took a bit to come out, but it was a party of 11 and it all arrived at once, so we ate from hot plates.

Great decor, ambience and service. Delicious margaritas. The food was mostly very good. They have a buffet on Sunday that is a great way to sample the menu. The cafe ola is a very unique and awesome variation on coffee. I ordered the pork pibil which was under salted but other wise good. The accompanying plantains and beans were on point. Would love to go back and try other dishes. Update: visited again and had the crepas poblanos which was extremely delicious.

Service was horrible! Sat outside and had to keep going inside if I needed something. I had to ask for the drink menu twice. Eventually walked inside to get it. We felt forgotten about sitting outdoors and it wasnt packed. They probably need another staff member. The waitress seemed to be making the drinks as well. I wouldnt go back, but the food was decent. A bit pricey for the lack of service. Overall the experience was very disappointing.

My friends and I really wanted some great Mexican food and stopped by here after reading some reviews online - really glad we did! Food is AMAZING and the service was very friendly (the bartender gave us free shots!) The food is not cheap, but you very much get what you pay for. We came for happy hour when they have $3 beers and cheap margaritas which were very strong. I will be definitely coming back here again soon.

One of my favorite mexican restaurants. I have been numerous times and the food is consistently good. Many of the dishes are packed full of flavor with good quality incredients and delicious sauces. Highly recommend the meat dishes but my vegetarian friends also enjoy the veggie enchiladas. Service also good. Mixed drinks are a disappointment so I recommend beer or sangria.

my favorite Mexican restaurant in the city!!! A place I have frequented many time; each & every time the food has been outstanding!! the Tortilla Soup is a favorite!! I have yet to try something on the menu that I didnt love!! Very is an friendly& attentive staff. The decor is an homage to Mexican Cinema, quaint & cozy. Great place for a date or any other occasion!!!

Absolutely incredible food and menu. Innovative drinks (chipotle margaritas!) and the menu has both traditional and contemporary mexican dishes. If you like quiet and relaxed, go during the week. If you enjoy the loud, fun South Street atmosphere, go on the weekend. Either way, the food is amazing! This was my second visit and I highly recommend!

Service is very slow, I do not blame the servers, I was watching them, and they have to do everything in there, busser, hostess, bartender, phone, pick ups, etc... its impossible to offer a good service like that, I would give it 5 stars because the food is very very good and the price is good too, but service sucks, Ive been there four times.

Thank you Ms. Clark for your recent review. All reviews help us to better serve the public. As I promised when I telephoned you, I have investigated your credit card incident. The server has been with Las Bugambilias for over a year, offers an apology, and assures you that it was a mistake. Also as promised we have refunded your card $ 18.

Las Bugambilias is hands down my favorite mexican restaurant in Philadelphia, or anywhere for that matter. The food is absolutely delish, authentic, and consistent. The staff are friendly, although sometimes the service can be painfully slow. The prices are good, and the portions are definately enough. The tortilla soup is amazing!!!
