This family-owned bakery has been a Newtown Square staple for more than 50 years. The cakes are excellent - the sponge is moist and flavorful, the buttercream frosting not overly sweet. Weve never been able to stump them with an odd decoration request, either. Weinrich also excels with traditional pastries, including Jewish/German specialties such as Lindzer Tarts and Hamentaschen. Expect to pay a premium over the grocery store equivalents, but the difference in quality is well worth the upgrade.

Friendly people, lots to choose from; cakes cookies, etc. The reason to really go there is they have the BEST Butter Cake anywhere. You typically have to go to North East Philly, but now those people should drive down here! If you never had Philly German Butter Cake, you need to try it. Spongy Danish pastry on the bottom, with a thick, liquid, gooey icing/topping. Its like nothing else & hard to find. Anyway, awesome bakery!

I have been a fan of Weinrichs for many years. On Thursday, I stopped in to get either a donut or hammentaschen (I opted for the donut) and saw something Id never had before, ginger cake. An almost pudding like cake batter with a light crust on the bottom and a thick layer of chocolate frosting on top. A perfect flavor combination.

I took a chance and ordered a mince meat pie for Thanksgiving. The family agreed it was the best crust and filling ever. Will come back for other desserts.
