After four years of walking passing Alba, on my way home, last night I decided to take my family for dinner after my daughters elementary school concert. I thoroughly enjoyed the ambiance, very clean, its design is unique to the area, great bar section with tables, service is very good, the staff and servers are knowledgeable; so, those were the high points of our experience. The food, seriously was unremarkable! Our bill came to $94.00; it consisted of two main courses, 1 wine, 1 beer, and 1 dinner plate from the bar menu. The portions were good, but over loaded with so-so vegetables. My lamb was bland, cooked on/over wood, and the polenta accompanying it was overbearingly smokey. My recommendation is to directly go to the bar, and order off its bar menu. Or enjoy the ambiance by just having a drink at the bar with a group of friends. The main restaurant can be avoided, along with its over priced and unremarkable main menu items. I did offer my thoughts to the server, and it was also jotted down in the comment section that accompanied the bill. This is a truly honest review; also, I rarely write them, on average about two a year.

Had an excellent dinner this past Saturday evening made with fresh locally grown food. The server was knowledgeable and efficient without rushing us through our meal. There was one major disappointment however. When confirming the reservation, the restaurant told us that they now have a wine list besides it being BYOB. We were told that if we bring our own wine the corkage fee was $7. What they did not say was that it was $7 per person!!! Therefore our table for 4 was charged $28 to share one bottle of wine. For us, this is a deal breaker, and we will not return until the policy comes in line with other establishments most of which charge a maximum of $10 per table.

We had a wonderful waitress, the atmosphere was nice are meals were good my only disappointment was the price of the specials. We ordered the special appetizer and that was per person 14 dollars for a thin slice of salami with an olive, a fried scallop, a bite of salmon and 1 piece of bruscetta. The entre special which was a rib eye steak was 38 dollars.... the steak on the menu was 26 so we were really surprised.... It would of been nice if since their specials are so expensive if they had told the price when they went over the specials..... Again our server was wonderful and it was nice just too expensive.

Was there for lunch and ordered salad with tuna. Fortunately the people I was with were wonderful, but my lunch was literally a big pile of greens with a lot of stems, with what seemed liked canned tuna just mixed in and not all that flavorful. I have eaten in the bar and always love the Bruschetta and other appetizers, but I would have thought the salads would have been a little more than just greens and canned tuna. The best part of the meal was the bread.

food is a small notch below vetri – really, the difference is consistency. we had a poached salmon on top of a crostini covered in apple creme fraiche that was absolutely amazing. the bruschetta with porcini mushrooms and fresh ricotta was just as good. i liked the papardelle w. wild boar ragu better than the scallops w. black truffle risotto – the rice was a bit undercooked. the apple crostata a la mode we had for dessert was also great.

The meal and service were very good. I really enjoyed the menu - good selections. Very nice Italian wine list. Cramped quarters in spots but noise level okay for conversation at the table. Pasta dishes wonderful - we had the rabbit and wild boar Pappardelle. Rabbit pasta tasty (drank the sauce) Boar a little light. Trout very good. Duck too though the dark meat not as much as the breast meat - which was killer. Will go back for sure.

Weve been to Alba a few times and enjoyed each visit. This is a gourmet level restaurant that doesnt carry the pretense of some main line restaurants. The owners are the chef and the hostess. They are friendly and accessible. Their food is excellent. We are planning another visit this evening. Make the time to go there. They just added wine to their menu although they still support BYOB.

Nice setting in middle of downtown Malvern. Friendly hostess and waitstaff. Food was unremarkable. Wine was wonderful if a bit expensive -- though it was nice to be served wine in this BYOB friendly state. Room was very loud -- all hard surfaces except for the cushion on the ceiling?

You can tell that Chef Sean was trained at the CIA and learned from chefs like Thomas Keller. The food is nothing short of awesome, the ambiance is warm and welcoming, and the service is excellent. This is five-star farm-to-table cuisine in your backyard. Vetri has nothing on Alba.

Had dinner last monday in Alba. The food is really good quality, the wine was good as well. Its good to take your time, they dont rush, and you shouldnt! The room was a bit noisy, in turn it gives you a lively atmosphere. I liked it a lot

Just a special cozy romantic restaurant. It has a country feel. More importantly the food is a bit special, good for a special occasion. Small enough to make it feel a bit more exclusive.

Definitely overpiced for the quality of food, preparation and menu options. For the price level rocking tables are unacceptable. Nice interior and staff is more or less professional

One of the best restaurants in the Philadelphia area. The octopus is a must have. Also, any of the boar dishes when they are offered. A bit expensive, but you get what you pay for.

This restaurant is unique, offering a wood grilled selection of fresh local food. The menu is Italian-structured, but thats where the Italian ends. Pricey and worth every penny.

Excellent service! Just had a burger to go, and the chef separated the bun and the burger to avoid the bun absorbing all the grease! Above and beyond! Thank you.

This place is probably my favorite restaurant in the area. A bit pricey for my budget, but worth every penny when I splurge. Excited to try the new bar menu

Fantastic food, hidden away in downtown Malvern. Definitely a foodie establishment, great wine list, and the ever-changing antipasto is always amazing!

Good food, solid service. Sometimes a little cold inside. They have a full bar, but also allow you to byo for $20, but no corkage fee on Monday.

Terrific Italian food, very farm to table with friendly knowledgeable servers. All 3 courses on this visit were terrific!
