Who the heck is running the McKenzie on Swedesford Rd??? From the entry into the restaurant to the presentation of my "$19.95" Steakout meal one word can only describe the experience--disaster! My boyfriend and I entered the restaurant to be greeted with a line to speak to the host. The host was on the telephone and the person in front of us was on his phone, of course. I couldnt discern who was being more rude. Not too long of a wait after that initial bump. We get to our table and are able to put in our orders. I intentionally went to McKenzies in order to try their steak dinner because it sounded like such a great deal. Got my free beer, which was not poured to the top. Got my wedge salad which had wilted leaves on the first two layers of it. Finally, my filet mignon arrives! What the heck? It is hacked up on the top and it is super small. Ok, let me open it up and see what it looks like because it may taste better than it looks. Ok, I am having some trouble cutting into it because it is all stringy, and the meat on the inside isnt cooked evenly. I asked for medium rare, and I got well done on the outer parts and medium on the inner, with one spot of pink on the inside. And the taste? It tasted like charred, burnt meat. What a travesty to do to what should have been a great cut of meat. Oh, and I got 4 onion rings and a baked potato with it. The waitress comes around and I explain how the meat is stringy, and it doesnt taste good. She says, "Do you want them to make you another?". Um, no. Why would I want the cooks in the kitchen who dont know how to cook a filet mignon medium rare the first time, do it again? I ate about two bites of the steak and said I cant do this to my boyfriend. The waitress noticed I didnt eat the meal, and she asks, "Do you want something else from the menu? We dont want you to go home hungry". How about you tell your manager that you have a dissatisfied customer, and you are bringing out inedible steak. The waitress brings the bill and doesnt comp the steak dinner at all. I dont know what kind of establishment McKenzies is but I will never go back, and I will tell everyone I know how horrible the food is. That waitress should have immediately comped the meal. And I dont mean with a gift card back to McKenzies. Who wants to go back to the restaurant that is crap? But maybe the waitress didnt have the authority to comp anything because there is no general manager working there. I dont understand when it became acceptable restaurant etiquette to let customers leave an establishment dissatisfied. McKenzies brewhouse is the epitome of bad chain restaurants.

McKenzies Malvern. Ive been to a few of these restaurants throughout the PA area and this one comes up short. Like most of them, the food and drink selection is good. Probably why we keep going back. But the service at this one will probably prevent us from returning. Website hours say 2am. Waitress says midnight. Cool, I get it. Business is slow and you want to go home. But being made to feel unwelcome at 9:45 is a bit much. That was just the first time so hey chalk it up to someone having a bad day. Happens a second time and Im starting to wonder if its us. But were not college kids being unruly. Just a few couples out without the kids. Here we are for the third time and boom...happens again. This time Im told that when ppl close their bill, mgmt is hesitant to let them reopen. But the porch was closing (10pm hour) and I dont know about you but it is standard to close so the exiting waiter can receive proper tip. 3 strikes and your out. Im really hoping this had nothing to do with the race card because again, we are nothing but well paying professional adults enjoying a night cap but being made to feel like we are unwelcome well before closing time means I get the picture and will be sure to let everyone know.

I will never be visiting another McKenzie brewing. This was the absolute worst dining experience Ive ever had. We waited over an hour for our food but it was a busy night so that was understandable. However, two waiters collided behind one of our guests and covered her in soup. They both just left without even apologizing. To make matters worse, I ordered a medium burger and it was delivered still Mooing and looking like it was cooked for five seconds on each side. Upon asking to return it the waitress copped an attitude telling me "well thats how youve ordered it". They then cooked the SAME burger on the grill (a bite was still missing when it came back) and I had the pleasure of waking up at 4 AM to let my toilet taste it. To top it all off, I was ordered a second beer by the waitress which I did not even confirm I wanted but ended up having to pay for.

Service was extremely slow. Had to ask for a beer refill twice before receiving. Fries were just warm, if that. Ordered a pork sandwich with rabe and received it without rabe (this is a standard menu item, not a special request). There was so much provolone on the sandwich you couldnt taste anything but. Dont get me wrong...I love cheese, but this was overkill. My daughter had a burger and asked for it medium. Like the previous review, it was mooing. She had an extremely upset stomach after eating it. This was the 2nd time eating here. First time was not impressive either. We wont be back.

went to mckenzies for the second half of the eagles game on 10/6/13 vs. the giants. brought my family and their children. 13 people. 2 tables. i wish i had read previous reviews. this place is the worst. orders wrong. mediocre food. terrible service. i spoke to the manager and he was unapologetic and rude. now i understand why the place was almost empty. there are so many other choices around there. they are all better choices than mckenzies. go somewhere else. i would never recommend this place and would never go back.

Stopped in late for drinks and a dessert with my wife. Service was decent. The microbrew sampler, while unremarkable was not bad. We tried the Choco Taco desert, because the picture made it look so appealing. But it was a big disappointment! We were expecting a warm shell and melted chocolate and caramel to contrast with the cold of the ice cream. Instead it was served almost frozen. It was clearly pre-made and had been sitting in a cooler for awhile.

Really had a first rate experience last Sunday. Stopped by around 6 and was seated in a very nice dining room and had an enthusiastic server who promptly brought our drinks -- love the brews. Ordered fresh fish -- mahi with a nice asian glaze-- cooked perfectly. My wife enjoyed the Key West Salad served with ahi tuna which was prepared rare as ordered. Great atmosphere and value would highly recommend.

I went here for a celebration of life event when a co-worker passed away. The staff was very friendly. The beer was good and there was a lot to choose from. You can sample all of the beer on the menu before choosing, which is really nice. Also, whatever food they served us, I dont know what it was, but it was amazing.
