This is what happened during our breakfast today: we stood inside the door for about 5 minutes before anyone acknowledged us, a waitress then nodded to a table that was still full of dishes and not cleaned and said we can sit there. We sat down with a good attitude and actually cleaned our own table- no big deal, they were busy. Another waitress finally took our order and said something about us deserving a discount but that she couldnt do anything about it because the manager wasnt in. Our food was almost cold but the omelet was good. The waitress said again during our breakfast that she was going to give us a discount because some others nearby saw how we had to clean our table and suggested that we get a free breakfast. Thats not what we were expecting though, just a discount because she said she would give us a break. We got our bill and it was full price. Got to the counter with my card and had to run across the street to get cash and the girl at the counter wasnt pleasant at all. We paid the full bill without an issue. Just a bit disappointed.

Being in the car for 3 hours straight causes my family and I to be nearly famished. Obviously, we assumed this place would be the right decision because of the appealing decor and crowds of people WAITING. Being nearly starved to death still didnt make the food taste like a four star restaurant. Let me add, if the staff was at least bit inviting and serviced us well, it would have made up for the horrible food. I dont know if there was only one cook, but, the food nearly took an hour to get. The Caesar salad was basically tossed in MAYO. My beef and horse radish wrap was so horrible. The beef was nearly like rubber. Our order of mozzarella sticks were nearly burnt. The teenagers working there need to be TRAINED on how to be a server. OR ATLEAST know how to have TEAMWORK. Our server was sweet and was basically busting her ass trying to make sure things were OK. Never ever ever considering THIS PLACE AGAIN.

Service was reasonably friendly. The establishment seemed clean. We liked the simple, kid friendly atmosphere. It looked like it was exactly what we needed... The kids were happy with their milkshake and tasty French toast. We did not get as lucky with the eggs Benedict. It was absolutely drowned in something that only vaguely resembled hollandaise. Even after scraping off as much as we could, we could barely choke it down. The eggs were also a bit overcooked, but poached eggs are touch and go at a lot of places. I would go back to this Café, if I had no other options; but we found plenty of places after the fact that were equally kid friendly and looked capable of serving a meal for adults that wouldnt leave them feeling ill.

My salad was served on a plate that had a big chip in it and a crack that went all across the middle (you can even feel the crack underneath the plate). Unfortunately, when I told the waiter, he thanked me for telling him since he might hurt himself on it when carrying it later (umm, what about me?). Later, I asked for a manager and got a rude lady who insisted that the crack and chip were sanitized and hence safe. She saw nothing wrong with eating off a broken dish (even if the crack is sharp and the plate is splitting). She then snapped at my wife--whats wrong with YOUR food? My wife said "nothing," and the manager scoffed.

Stopped here for a quick dinner after our bike ride and we were pleasantly surprised! Friendly, fast and knowledgeable service by Erica made the amazing food even more enjoyable. My boyfriend had the cream of potato with chicken soup and the home-made meatloaf. He loved it. I had the sweet and sour fried tofu and it was perfect. Delicious mix of perfectly cooked veggies, noodles and tofu that was actually not over or under done! This was our first visit, so we cannot attest to the history of restaurant, but we can say it was definitely worth the visit!

We ate here today after a nice day in Jim Thorpe. While the place is visually appealing, the service was not friendly. The food was not tasty. The cream of potato soup tasted horrible and not one potato was found. 3 of our 4 meals were just edible. My daughters buffalo chicken wrap (that was ordered mild) was so spicy that my sister who loves spice ...could not eat it. We had to go to the counter for our check after waiting patiently for a long period of time. We will not be back again.

Service was fine but the food was just terrible, the Cesar Salad was wilted, yellow greens, processed chicken and mayo for dressing, the pot stickers were dry and flavorless and the gumbo tasted like cheap intant and was cold. This is the kind of place that knows its location and goes cheap and cares little just because they can.

Yikes. Fiancé ordered chicken parm. Chicken was a really bad cut of meat, fatty, rubber like, and cooked poorly. Tomato sauce is obviously canned, lacking color and flavor. California chicken sandwhich that I ordered came with frozen strips of chicken and no avocado. Water tasted like soap water. Poor service. Bad food.

Lovely spot to have a light meal and watch tourist walk along the main Street. Friendly service and great ice cream, however making anything more than sandwiches and soup seems to lead to disappoint. It does have two separate family/unisex bathrooms but no wheelchair access. Larger dinning area in the back past bathroom.

Very accommodating. We came in with a large indecisive group. Half of us left and then came back. Erica, our server made it really easy for us to put our orders in. We got our food out in good time. I ordered the chicken risotto. Really hit the spot after a long hike. Everyone was happy. Even our vegan friend.

I had a late dinner here yesterday. Waitress couldnt have been more friendly, food was piping hot, quickly prepared and very good. Very nice, clean place. Prices were in line with most local offerings. Only reason that I did not give 4 stars was I was just very picky about the menu items.

The service is horrible. The meal arrived a hour late. Only one cook in the bsck. The waitress need to be in uniform. They look sweaty and struggling to get the food out on time. They take hours to clean the table. Needs new management to someone who knows what they are doing.

The staff was wonderful, Restaurant was clean, very nice location with view of Broadway. But the food was hit and miss. Hubby said his Ruben sandwich and fries were very good but my meatloaf left a lot to be desired as it was lukewarm and drowned in marinara sauce.

In late April 2017we had the pleasure of dining twice at Bear Appetit. We were served by Erica who was so personable and efficient. The food was good and the service was too! thanks! The country music didnt hurt either. : )

Great food in a small town! Sandwiches and kids meal were great and filling! Waitress needs a lesson in customer service, the whole meal she only came back once. However, for the food we would return!!!!!

Weve been coming to Jim Thorpe for many years. We always try to stop in for a bite to eat at Bear Appetite. Weve eaten everything from breakfast to dinner to take out and have never been disappointed.
