My wife spends a lot of time on Eastern Shore and always has such nice things to say about the Cape Charles Coffee Co, so when we went out and visited on Memorial Day weekend, I was looking forward to their delicious breakfast sandwiches and coffee (since I am a barista myself.) When we entered, it was obvious that they were extremely busy. We empathized and were fully prepared to do a little waiting. We tried to get in line to order... but there was no line. Many potential customers were milling about, looking confused. A couple of us tried to ascertain by "polling the audience" whether we were standing in the right spot, but no one knew because the workers behind the bar would not even acknowledge the customers. Im not insinuating that, when you are absolutely swamped, you must take an order when your hands and brains are currently moving at a million miles an hour... but I should think that you need to at least affirm that there is a customer there, so they know that they are waiting in the right area to give an order. A "Hey, we are busy right now, but if you wait a bit, Ill take your order," or an "Ill be right with you," or "I see you," or even a grunt in the customers direction can often suffice. Instead, the 5 or 6 people behind the counter said nothing. After one of the people we were milling about with said he was going to leave, my wife protested, "Oh no! Wait a minute! They are just really busy! Ill go up and ask if we are in the correct area to place an order!" No sooner had she eaked out her question at the bar than one of the people behind the bar (I presume the owner) basically shouted her down. He hurled several gruff questions at her, rolled his eyes, and mumbled stuff under his breath as she walked away, stunned. Some customers thanked her for asking. A waitress came over and pulled us "out of the way," briefly apologized for the mans behavior, and asked us what we wanted. We ordered two breakfast sandwiches and a cappuccino. I knew when I saw my drink being haphazardly/loosely tamped that this was not going to be a stellar drink. But again... hey, theyre really busy. 10...20...30 minutes passed. After about 45 minutes of us standing off to the side, waiting for our to go order, we (gingerly) asked if we should maybe sit down or order another (non-coffee) drink. It was then that the waitress told us our sandwiches had not even been started yet. We asked if we could cancel our order, she said ok. We said that we did not feel comfortable paying for a couple sips of the poor cappuccino, she said ok. We left empty handed after over an hour of waiting. We were both pretty unimpressed, not so much with the poorly made beverages or the suspiciously lost order... but with the awful, awful attitude exhibited by the man behind the bar. When we got into the car, my wife made some excuses for the experience. She said we should try to go again on a weekday. But I can safely say that I will never set foot inside this establishment again. As a glutton for punishment, she might be able to look past what happened this Sunday and return. But as someone who works in, respects, and loves this business, I cannot.

We went here today for lunch. Someone sat us down and said they were only serving breakfast, which was fine with us. We sat at the table and were ignored by three different waitresses for 15 minutes. I finally went up to the counter to ask if we were supposed to order there and I was rudely told the kitchen closed at 1 and a waitress chimed in "I am NOT serving anyone else!" Why did you seat us then and told us about the breakfast? We would have met your 1:00 deadline if you hadnt ignored us for 15 Minutes when we got there. To the old waitress with long red hair-Im sorry youre having a bad day but dont take it out on me and my family. Oh and by the way- you should probably consider a change in profession because you have the personality of a mashed toad.

The coffee was average, nothing special, but it is probably the best you will have in cape Charles. The inside is very nice, with a mid century wooden parlor design, two levels that feel inviting for a morning bite and cup of coffee. The good times stop shortly after you walk in the door though. Staff is very unfriendly, and honestly soured the experience greatly for me and my girlfriend. We felt very unwelcome. The place could be great with a staff overhall, but man those people were not very nice, and they make the customers feel like outsoders. Come for the coffee and the food, but dont expect to be treated nicely.

Went over Thanksgiving weekend and the place was packed. The meals were very tasty. Amazingly, the food arrived quickly, as did the drinks and even the silverware (this is not always a given here). Unfortunately, the crabby waitress with the red hair scraggling down her back served us. As usual, she had an attitude: she was doing us the favor. When asked if the lunch menu was available (at 1145) she literally snapped the nose of the customer with her curt "NO". Seemed a reasonable question to me. Is good help really so hard to find in this area where the unemployment rate is around 26% ?

If youre in a huge hurry, then go ahead and grab a bite to eat at the gas station, but if you want to take a moment to enjoy lovingly prepared food served by really nice folks in a beautiful space, then stop in to the Cape Charles Coffee House. The scones alone are worth the trip, and the menu features great healthy salads & wraps as well as a couple of more decadent options. Miss Roberta also makes cakes & desserts for any special occasion & they certainly dont mind if you make yourself at home for a while to read the paper or chat with the locals. Added bonus - Free Wifi on site.

One of the highest points of my visit to Cape Charles at the end of September 2016 was this coffeehouse. They do not only serve coffee. They serve breakfast, lunch and dinner. It does not appear to be as a spacious as it is. It has a fantastic ambience and the servers are very nice and kind. Service is fast and very efficient. They have a very simple menu but everything is really delicious. This is a must when you are in Cape Charles. It is fairly close to the beach, about a couple of blocks and there is plenty of parking right across the street.

Annette waited on us today. We tried the clam chowder which was delicious, a turkey Reuben, a turkey wrap and a crab cake sandwich. Wonderful lunch with friendly staff. For desert we split a piece of decadent chocolate cake with half a plate full of whipped cream. Lovely staff and extra seating in the outdoor area as well as upstairs dining. We will be back!

We called several times from Colorado Springs Co looking for some catering service. Each time we called, we were told they didnt have the time to talk to us about catering because they were too busy. This was a RED flag for us, if you cant handle a phone call, how can you handle the demands of catered events.
