This was my first visit to a Half Pint Creamery. I was visiting Gettysburg for the day. I wish we had one of these at home! The young woman who waited on us was very nice and answered our questions about some of the many, interesting flavors that were available. I chose a cup of Almond Joy ice cream. It was very good! It was a base of chocolate ice cream, with coconut and almonds already mixed in. The cup was served with a triangle of waffle cone stuck into the ice cream, near the edge of the cup. I really love ice cream and this was good. The texture was very smooth and rich. The coconut was the kind you would find in an Almond Joy bar, rather than the crunchy, toasted coconut that appears in some other ice creams. I believe the almond pieces were toasted. They added a lovely and flavorful crunch. There is no seating inside the shop. However there is a counter along the window where you can stand. There were several, round, picnic tables outside the shop, which is where we sat to enjoy our treat. This shop offers pints and quarts packed to go. I would have loved to take a few of those, but I had more than a 90-minute drive home. I will definitely visit this shop the next time Im in Gettysburg. Maybe next time I should bring a cooler with dry ice!

As a local, I know that Gettysburg is not short on ice cream establishments. However, as a local, I will say that the best ice cream in town (and out of town) is Half Pint. Now, Im a savory kind of guy, but when my wife was pregnant, we would get ice cream on the regular. We went everywhere. However, based on taste and selection, Half Pint is head over heels any place in town. And that is is the one sad part of Half Pint, they are not located in town. Just about 2 miles North. But that is also its charm. Those of us locals and those who have been fortunate to experience reliable word of mouth know where to go. Recently my wife (who follows Half Pint on Facebook) made us go so she could try a limited edition flavor "Marry Me?", which just do happened to have a cute story to go a long with it. It truly is real people making good ice cream that makes us go back for more. Best ice cream in town, straight from a locals mouth.

Im not gonna lie, Id like to keep the fact at how good this place is quiet, so it doesnt get too crowded. The owner learned her craft from Penn State from the same program B&J did. The ice cream is rich, the waffle cones are homemade, and the flavors are unique. Picnic tables outside to enjoy your frozen treat. OH, and they sell treats for fido too.

We are from SC visiting family in Gettysburg. My took here to get ice cream. Its the best homemade ice cream. So many flavors to choose from. It was hard to pick! There waffle cones are homemade too. Its clean and very friendly employees!!!

If we are in the area, my husband and I love treating ourselves to Half Pint. The flavors change depending on the day and season and every scoop comes in a waffle cone. Not the cheapest ice cream but delicious nonetheless!
