First, something needs to be made clear - this is NOT a place to go eat. It is a gun shop that has a food counter at the back of the store, and 2 picnic tables at the front of the store. There is a table with plastic utensils but they are the worst Ive ever used. Clearly the object is to get the food and go home, but you can eat there if you want. That being the case, the prices should be lower than they are - they dont have the extra costs full time diners have. I felt the costs were high for what was delivered. I should have also realized that most of the glowing reviews are ex military people, and they all think the "chow" is great. As I recall, my father always complained about how bad food in the army was, so were not talking about people with a high bar. In short the meat was bland, the corn cakes odd tasting and the beans just not right. As one review I read said, they are good people who came up with a nice idea, but they dont know how to cook. Go for the guns... and stick to the guns... and eat somewhere else.

My wife and I had Dinner at Chow Hall on Friday Night for the first time because my wife had smelled the wondrous aromas from their outside BBQ Pits earlier that afternoon. Being from Memphis, TN originally, we love our BBQ. We had a very pleasant experience. The BBQ was very good! We had the Beef Brisket and Pork Ribs. They have some different choices for sides like pineapple slaw and cornbread with maple syrup and nuts. Donna had the Memphis Greens and thought that they were really good. Tony who sat us was extremely friendly, our waitress was very good, and we really enjoyed meeting and talking with the young couple that owns this business. I was too full at the end of my meal for dessert, but I took their pecan pie home and ate it the next day. I was only going to eat half of it and then eat the rest of it later, but it was so good I could not stop eating it until it was all gone and I was wishing I had more! We are definitely going to go back and try some of Chow Halls other dishes soon!

Not only do they have a great selection of firearms and accessories, they also have very fair prices. My biggest gripe is the customer service, its not that theyre rude or unhelpful, but rather then asking if you need help, in my experience you have to approach them. That said Im a bit anal when it comes to customer service, I have high expectations. I expect southern hospitality like Im use to from my time living down south, and thats just something you dont get around here period. As for their food, its more of a take out place, but being a foody I gave it a shot. But taste in BBQ is purely subjective and Ive yet to find BBQ anywhere in Pa that comes even close to what Im use to below the mason dixon. Was it great in my opinion? No. It was good, but expensive. Definitely worth a try though!

How can you run a barbecue house and not have barbecue? I went here on May 28th around 5 pm and they were out of everything on the menu! My husband ordered brisket sandwich and when I went to order mine they said he got the last of it and the only thing left was pulled pork or kielbasi. OK so I ordered the pulled pork with their pineapple cole slaw....Oh sorry we are out of the cole slaw. So I got the macaroni salad and greens. Well lo and behold the server comes back and tells my husband they have no more brisket. With that we got up and left. HOW IN THE HELL CAN YOU RUN A RESTAURANT ON MEMORIAL WEEKEND AND NOT HAVE FOOD???? That was definitely a once and done trip for me!

Service is decent even though a lot of times I have to change parts of my order after I already paid but nonetheless its all about the food the ribs are phenomenal I think the best in the area the brisket does not disappoint the smoked sausage and kielbasa are also the best in the area the owner is a straight to the point guy which I like we always talk barbecue when I am in the ladies there are top notch some of the best service workers and I also respect there dedication to military veterans and there families overall I always have a good experience when coming in keep it up chow hall

Ate here for the first time and was very happy. I ordered "mess kit #2" with ribs, brisket, beans, and slaw, my wife ordered "mess kit #1" with pulled pork, greens, and beans. Both of us had food left over. The ribs were superb: large, meaty, tender, and *not* falling off the bone. The brisket had good flavor but was a bit dry. The pulled pork was also quite good, but I didnt have more than a taste. Second-best item on the plate were the beans, which were spicy without being overwhelming. Looking forward to my next lunchtime in Emmaus.

The BBQ is pretty good. Ive had everything on the menu at this point. I find that the prices are a little high and the size of the sides are a little small compared to other to-go places. The beans need more smoke, they taste like canned beans. The brisket is routinely a bit fatty. I like mine untrimmed, but this is a little too untrimmed. The sausage is great. I like the wings. The bourbon bbq sauce is good. Its all good, just a little over-priced for quantity.

AMAZING EXPERIENCE! There BBQ sauce was sooo good, I got a little bit extra to take with me for my left overs and I actually added to my home pulled chicken recipe. I asked if they are selling their sauces online, they said a website will be launching shortly. I will be a return customer in person, and will order their sauces for summer BBQs!! I highly recommend trying this place out. I had given S/O a groupon and that is what prompted our visit.

If you want a real bbq experience check this place out. If you ever been to a bbq pit down south you will understand what I am talking about. BBq is an experience it should be a place that make you feel like your at home with friends . This guys brisket is outstanding and he isnt afraid to think outside the box with his menu. The staff is awesome. One other thing try the different tea"s they offer and do not miss the corn bread

There are no words to describe how satisfied I was with Defcon-1. I ordered the bunker buster and needless to say it was hands down better than any other BBQ sandwich I have ever had and that includes 8 separate tours of duty in Austin, TX which is the home of BBQ. If you have not tried this place yet, you are missing the boat. NOM NOM NOM
